Information regarding the propagation media is typically gathered by conducting physical experiments, measuring and processing the corresponding data to obtain channel characteristics. When this propagation media is human body, for example in case of medical implants, then this approach might not be practical. In this paper, an immersive visualization environment is presented, which is used as a scientific instrument that gives us the ability to observe RF propagation from medical implants inside a human body. This virtual environment allows for more natural interaction between experts with different backgrounds, such as engineering and medical sciences. The ankle strategy is one of the postural adjustment maneuvers humans utilize when the support platform is disturbed. This paper presents a quantitative analysis of the ankle strategy. A three-link sagittal biped model is considered. The first link represents the two legs locked together. The second link represents the two thighs locked together. The third link represents the hip, the torso, the upper limbs, the neck, and the head. The dynamics, control, and stability of the three-link biped, under platform translation, are considered. The disturbance of the platform is represented as an input and the effect of the muscular system is reduced to a set of torques applied to the joints and across the joints. Two digital computer simulations are presented to demonstrate the behavior of the biped under backward or forward platform disturbance. The simulations are compared with experimental measurements of humans subjected to postural disturbances. It is shown that the effect of a horizontal disturbance at the ankle appears to be about 40 times that of the effect of the disturbance at the knees and at least a few hundred times larger than the effect of a disturbance at the hip. This means that, under translational platform disturbance, the ankle angle is subjected to the largest excursion. The knee and the hip angle excursions are relatively minor. Consequently, the biped, as a whole, appears to move as a single inverted pendulum. Major postural corrections are initiated by the ankle excursion. Further, when the available ankle torque is limited or nonexistent, the stability requires resorting to the knee or hip strategies. 相似文献

In the current study, graphene oxide (GO) was prepared using green chemistry with modified Hummer's method without incorporating sodium nitrate (NaNO3). Solvent casting was employed to fabricate GO-doped poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), that is, PEO/GO composites with various proportion of Na2SO4 and were then subjected to characterization via advanced spectroscopic techniques for different physicochemical aspects to estimate their potential applications as marketable products. XRD analysis explored that fabricated composites are more crystalline than neat PEO. PEO/GO/Na2SO4 composite films offered maximum crystallinity. SEM displayed the same trend. TG/DTA thermogram exposed better thermal stability than pristine polymer. FTIR studies confirmed complexation among hybrid's components. Elongation-at-break and Young's modulus displayed an enhancing behavior with an incremental loading of salt and filler. In terms of mechanical performance, composite of PEO with 0.37 wt % GO and 0.08 g salt was found to be an ideal composition during the course of study. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. In this study, the low velocity impact properties of rotationally molded skin–foam–skin sandwich structures were investigated experimentally since there is a need for a greater understanding of the impact behavior of these composites in service to extend the range of their applications. Polyethylene rotationally molded sandwich structures were manufactured at various skin and core layer thickness combinations and tested using an instrumented low velocity drop weight impact testing machine at 20–100 J impact energy levels, at room temperature. This allowed the identification of the impact response, failure mode, and the effects of the skin and core layer thickness on impact resistance. Force–deflection curves, maximum force, contact time, maximum deflection versus impact energy curves were analyzed. Samples were seen to fail due to the indentation dart piercing the upper and lower skins, with crushing and consolidation seen in the core foamed layer. Delamination at the core/skin interface was not observed. It was found that fracture initiates from the lower skin and then continues to grow to the upper skin via the foamed core layer. The impact resistance was noted to increase with increasing skin and core layer thickness; though an increase in skin layer thickness had a greater contribution than an increase in the core layer thickness. In this paper, the robust bounded-input bounded-output stability of a large class of linear time invariant fractional order families of systems with real parametric uncertainties is analyzed. The transfer functions contain polynomials in fractional powers of the Laplace variable s, possibly in combination with exponentials of fractional powers of s. Using the concept of the value set and a generalization of the zero exclusion condition theorem, a theorem to check the robust bounded-input bounded-output stability of these families of systems is presented. An upper cutoff frequency for drawing the value sets is provided as well. The numerical solutions of the upper-convected Maxwell (UCM) nanofluid flow under the magnetic field effects over an inclined stretching sheet has been worked out. This model has the tendency to elaborate on the characteristics of “relaxation time” for the fluid flow. Special consideration has been given to the impact of nonlinear velocity slip, thermal radiation and heat generation. To study the heat transfer, the modified Fourier and Fick's laws are incorporated in the modeling process. The mass transfer phenomenon is investigated under the effects of chemical reaction, Brownian motion and thermophoresis. With the aid of the similarity transformations, the governing equations in the ordinary differential form are determined and then solved through the MATLAB's package “bvp4c” numerically. This study also brings into the spotlight such crucial physical parameters, which are inevitable for describing the flow and heat transfer behavior. This has been done through graphs and tables with as much precision and exactitude as is possible. The ascending values of the magnetic parameter, the Maxwell parameter and the angle of the inclined stretching sheet cause decay in the dimensionless velocity while an assisting behavior of the thermal and concentration buoyancy parameters is noticed. 相似文献

A comprehensive computational fluid dynamic model has been developed using COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 software to predict the behavior of a membrane reactor in dehydrogenation of methylcyclohexane for hydrogen production. A reliable reaction kinetic of dehydrogenation reaction and a permeation mechanism of hydrogen through silica membrane have been used in computational fluid dynamic modeling. For performance comparison, an equivalent traditional fixed bed reactor without hydrogen removal has been also modeled. After model validation, it has been used to evaluate the operating parameters effect on the performance of both the silica membrane reactor and the equivalent traditional reactor as well. The operating temperature ranged between 473 and 553 K, pressure between 1 and 2.5 bar, sweep factor from ?6.22 to 25 and feed flow rate from 1 to 5 × 10?6 mol/s. The membrane reactor performed better than the equivalent traditional reactor, achieving as best result complete methylcyclohexane conversion and 96% hydrogen recovery. 相似文献
