A ferroelectric side-chain liquid crystalline polysiloxane (FLCP) containing azobenzene dyes as guest molecules for electro-optics has been investigated. The intensity and frequency of the Goldstone mode for the FLCP were increased remarkably after doping with azobenzene dyes. Larger fluctuation of the spontaneous polarization vector in each smectic layer under an applied electric field can be brought about with the addition of a strong dipole-moment guest molecule. This leads to a larger spontaneous polarization and shorter response time. It was found that the doping of a suitable amount of a strong dipole-moment azobenzene dye in the LC phase of the FLCP is helpful for the improvement of the electro-optical properties.  相似文献

CO2 reforming of methane was studied over modified Ni/Al2O3 catalysts. The metal modifiers were Co, Cu, Zr, Mn, Mo, Ti, Ag and Sn. Relative to unmodified Ni/Al2O3, catalysts modified with Co, Cu and Zr showed slightly improved activity, while other promoters reduced the activity of CO2 reforming. Mn-promoted catalyst showed a remarkable reduction in coke deposition, while entailing only a small reduction in catalytic activity compared to unmodified catalyst. The catalysts prepared at high calcination temperatures showed higher activity than those prepared at low calcination temperature. The Mn-promoted catalyst showed very low coke deposition even in the absence of diluent gas and the activity changed only slightly during 100 h operation. The tensile load bearing capability of adhesively-bonded tubular single lap joints which is calculated under the assumption of linear mechanical adhesive properties is usually much less than the experimentally-determined because the majority of the load transfer of adhesively-bonded joints is accomplished by the nonlinear behavior of rubber-toughened epoxy adhesives. Also, as the adhesive thickness increases, the calculated tensile load bearing capability with the linear mechanical adhesive properties increases, while, on the contrary, the experimentally-determined tensile load bearing capability decreases.

In this paper, the stress analysis of adhesively-bonded tubular single lap steel-steel joints under tensile load was performed taking into account the nonlinear mechanical properties and fabrication residual thermal stresses of the adhesive. The nonlinear tensile properties of the adhesive were approximated by an exponential equation which was represented by the initial tensile modulus and ultimate tensile strength of the adhesive.

Using the results of stress analysis, the failure criterion for the adhesively-bonded tubular single lap steel-steel joints under tensile load was developed, which can be used to predict the load-bearing capability of the joint. From the failure criterion, it was found that the fracture of the adhesively-bonded joint was much influenced by the fabrication residual thermal stresses.  相似文献

Geopolymer ceramics undergo a series of thermal phase transitions, progressing from an amorphous geopolymer gel to a crystalline phase, and eventually to an amorphous glass phase as the temperature increases. However, there is a lack of mechanism understanding regarding to the crystallization process and the subsequent thermal degradation. Here, we fundamentally investigated the kinetics of nepheline formation in Na-based geopolymer systems and its thermal stability up to 1400°C. Nepheline crystallization is controlled by bulk nucleation and three-dimensional crystal growth based on the Avrami factor of 4.64, where the activation energy of nepheline formation is 350.59 kJ/mol. High thermal stability of geopolymer ceramics is achieved due to the appearance of nepheline up to 1400°C with the Si/Al ratio ranging from 1.40 to 1.94, while melting and amorphous structure are formed above a higher Si/Al ratio of 2.22. The nature of sintering for geopolymer ceramics consists of shrinkage, expansion and shrinkage corresponding to dehydroxylation, crystallization, and densification, leading to a thermal shrinkage of 21% at 1400°C.  相似文献

Understanding the dynamic phenomena of viability loss of shear sensitive cells and bubble breakage and coalescence within airlift reactors requires knowledge of local, liquid-phase hydrodynamics. The laser-Doppler velocimeter (LDV) is a non-invasive instrument which may be used to obtain this information. Experimental procedures and software were developed to detect and measure Doppler bursts in two-phase flow in a split-cylinder airlift reactor. Off-line analysis of the data indicated a detection rate approximately one order of magnitude greater than that observed using an available commercial frequency tracker. Approximately 400 to 500 observations are needed for the ensemble mean to characterize the local mean velocity to within ±5% for a superficial gas velocity of 10.4 cm/s, the highest superficial gas velocity used in these studies. The limitations, prospects, and signal-processing options for LDV in this application are also discussed  相似文献

A surface diffusion mocel with diffusional interference has been presented for the analysis of multicomponent adsorption of phenols by activated carbon. Surface diffusion coefficients for multicomponent adsorptions were estimated from the relationship between. the surface diffusion coefficient of each species and the surface coverage. The diffusional interference coefficients, Wij, was determined from experimental counter-adsorption data. The numerical values of Wij were in the range of 0.4–0.9, which show that the introduction of diffusional interference is necessary to analyze multicomponent counter-adsorptions properly. The proposed model successfully simulates the behaviour of phenols-activated carbon system in a batch adsorber.  相似文献

Summary Miscibility of bisphenol-A polycarbonate, PC, with methyl methacrylate/cyclohexyl methacrylate, PMCHM, copolymers were examined by glass transition temperature and lower critical solution temperature, LCST, behavior. PMCHM copolymers were found to be miscible with PC at levels of below 4% or less of CHM in weight. Relatively small amount of the comonomer markedly raised phase separation temperature on heating. This result can be rationalized by intramolecular repulsion effect reported earlier.  相似文献

An absorption efficiency of packed column removing nitrogen oxides with water and NaOH solution under atmospheric pressure was studied. The efficiency and the acidity produced by absorption of NO, were measured in a packed column. The model developed that was based on the mass-transfer information for packed column and absorption mechanism accompanying the chemical reaction was compared with experimental results. Predictions using the model presented by the previous paper (part 1) was shown well to agree with from the experimental results (part II). The efficiency of NOx, absorption is largely dependent on the height of packing material and the partial pressure of NOx in the feed gas. The efficiency of NOx absorption decreases with the increase of the acidity produced by recycling of water as a scrubber liquid. For the recycle mode with an aqueous NaOH solution as a scrubber liquid, NOx absorption efficiency is shown to be constant until all of the COH- in the scrubber liquid are converted into CH+.  相似文献

Supported catalysts, one of the commonest forms of heterogeneous catalysts in practical use, consist of small crystallites of a catalytically active component dispersed in a porous support of high surface area. Impregnation of the support with an aqueous solution of a compound containing the appropriate catalytic component is an important and frequently used method of preparing this type of catalyst. A nonaqueous solution should be used if the sup port surface is hydrophobic or if hydrolysis of the support surface is to be avoided. In its simplest form, this impregnation method involves three steps: (1) contacting the support with impregnating solution for a certain period of time, (2) drying the support to remove the imbibed liquid, and (3) activating the catalyst by calcination, reduction, or other appropriate treatment.  相似文献
