Improved equations are formulated for the transfer of heat in flat-plate solar collector absorbers, including a shape factor accounting for details of flow duct designs, and developing heat transport in the ducts. Approximate, analytical solutions are obtained in terms of perturbation series, which are applicable to practical collectors with lengths much greater than the distance between flow ducts.The primary result of the analysis is a universal-type design equation, or chart, which determines the collector efficiency factor for any duct design, heat transfer development, or other absorber-plate parameter. Collector performance is stated in terms of an effectiveness/number-of-transfer-unit relationship. Ease of use and utility of the design chart is illustrated by examples.  相似文献

This paper studies topology optimization of convective heat transfer problems in two and three dimensions. The convective fluxes are approximated by Newton’s Law of Cooling (NLC). The geometry is described by a Level Set Method (LSM) and the temperature field is predicted by the eXtended Finite Element Method (XFEM). A constraint on the spatial gradient of the level set field is introduced to penalize small, sub-element-size geometric features. Numerical studies show that the LSM-XFEM provides improved accuracy over previously studied density methods and LSMs using Ersatz material models. It is shown that the NLC model with an iso-thermal fluid phase may over predict the convective heat flux and thus promote the formation of very thin fluid channels, depending on the Biot number characterizing the heat transfer problem. Approximating the temperature field in the fluid phase by a diffusive model mitigates this issue but an explicit feature size control is still necessary to prevent the formation of small solid members, in particular at low Biot numbers. The proposed constraint on the gradient of the level set field is shown to suppress sub-element-size features but necessitates a continuation strategy to prevent the optimization process from stagnating as geometric features merge.  相似文献

In intermediate risk hormone receptor (HR) positive, HER2 negative breast cancer (BC), the decision regarding adjuvant chemotherapy might be facilitated by multigene expression tests. In all, 142 intermediate risk BCs were investigated using the PAM50-based multigene expression test Prosigna® in a prospective multicentric study. In 119/142 cases, Prosigna® molecular subtyping was compared with local and two central (C1 and C6) molecular-like subtypes relying on both immunohistochemistry (IHC; HRs, HER2, Ki-67) and IHC + tumor grade (IHC+G) subtyping. According to local IHC, 35.4% were Luminal A-like and 64.6% Luminal B-like subtypes (local IHC+G subtype: 31.9% Luminal A-like; 68.1% Luminal B-like). In contrast to local and C1 subtyping, C6 classified >2/3 of cases as Luminal A-like. Pairwise agreement between Prosigna® subtyping and molecular-like subtypes was fair to moderate depending on molecular-like subtyping method and center. The best agreement was observed between Prosigna® (53.8% Luminal A; 44.5% Luminal B) and C1 surrogate subtyping (Cohen’s kappa = 0.455). Adjuvant chemotherapy was suggested to 44.2% and 88.6% of Prosigna® Luminal A and Luminal B cases, respectively. Out of all Luminal A-like cases (locally IHC/IHC+G subtyping), adjuvant chemotherapy was recommended if Prosigna® testing classified as Prosigna® Luminal A at high / intermediate risk or upgraded to Prosigna® Luminal B.  相似文献

The conventional way of determining the flammability characteristics of a material involves a number of tedious single-sample tests to distinguish flammable from non-flammable conditions. A novel test device and fuel configuration has been developed that permits multiple successive tests for indefinite lengths of thin solid materials. In this device, a spreading flame can be established and held at a fixed location in front of optimized diagnostics while continuous variations of test parameters are made. This device is especially well-suited to conducting experiments in space (e.g. aboard the International Space Station) where the limited resources of stowage, volume, and crew time pose major constraints. A prototype version of this device was tested successfully in both a normal gravity laboratory and during low-gravity aircraft trials. As part of this ongoing study of material flammability behavior, a numerical model of concurrent-flow flame spread is used to simulate the flame. Two and three-dimensional steady-state forms of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations with chemical reactions and gas and solid radiation are solved. The model is used to assist in the design of the test apparatus and to interpret the results of microgravity experiments. This paper describes details of the fuel testing device and planned experiment diagnostics. A special fuel, developed to optimize use of the special testing device, is described. Some results of the numerical flame spread model are presented to explain the three-dimensional nature of flames spreading in concurrent flow and to show how the model is used as an experiment design tool.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of impregnation materials di‐ammonium phosphate, aluminium sulphate, potassium carbonate, calcium chloride, zinc chloride on combustion properties of 3 ply laminated veneer lumbers (LVL) produced from Walnut (Juglans regia L.) using phenol–formaldehyde (PF), poly (vinyl acetate) have been investigated. The pressure‐vacuum method was used for impregnation process. Combustion test was performed according to the procedure of ASTM‐E 69 standards. During the test, mass reduction, temperature and released gas (CO, NOX, SO2, O2) were determined every 30 s. As a result, zinc chloride was found to be the most successful fire‐retardant chemical in LVL at PF adhesive. Since it diminishes combustion, the fire retardant of LVL produced from walnut using PF adhesive can be advised. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The phase of a signal at a plane is reconstructed from the intensity profiles at two close parallel screens connected by a small abcd canonical transform; this applies to propagation along harmonic and repulsive fibers and in free media. We analyze the relationship between the local spatial frequency (the signal phase derivative) and the derivative of the squared modulus of the signal under a one-parameter canonical transform with respect to the parameter. We thus generalize to all linear systems the results that have been obtained separately for Fresnel and fractional Fourier transforms.  相似文献

Following our previous review on Pinus spp. seed fatty acid (FA) compositions, we recapitulate here the seed FA compositions of Larix (larch), Picea (spruce), and Pseudotsuga (Douglas fir) spp. Numerous seed FA compositions not described earlier are included. Approximately 40% of all Picea taxa and one-third of Larix taxa have been analyzed so far for their seed FA compositions. Qualitatively, the seed FA compositions in the three genera studied here are the same as in Pinus spp., including in particular the same Δ5-olefinic acids. However, they display a considerably lower variability in Larix and Picea spp. than in Pinus spp. An assessment of geographical variations in the seed FA composition of P. abies was made, and intraspecific dissimilarities in this species were found to be of considerably smaller amplitude than interspecific dissimilarities among other Picea species. This observation supports the use of seed FA compositions as chemotaxonomic markers, as they practically do not depend on edaphic or climatic conditions. This also shows that Picea spp. are coherently united as a group by their seed FA compositions. This also holds for Larix spp. Despite a close resemblance between Picea and Larix spp. seed FA compositions, principal component analysis indicates that the minor differences in seed FA compositions between the two genera are sufficient to allow a clear-cut individualization of the two genera. In both cases, the main FA is linoleic acid (slightly less than one-half of total FA), followed by pinolenic (5,9,12-18:3) and oleic acids. A maximum of 34% of total Δ5-olefinic acids is reached in L. sibirica seeds, which appears to be the highest value found in Pinaceae seed FA. This apparent limit is discussed in terms of regio- and stereospecific distribution of Δ5-olefinic acids in seed triacylglycerols. Regarding the single species of Pseudotsuga analyzed so far (P. menziesii), its seed FA composition is quite distinct from that of the other two genera, and in particular, it contains 1.2% of 14-methylhexadecanoic (anteiso-17:0) acid. In the three genera studied here, as well as in most Pinus spp., the C18Δ5-olefinic acids (5,9-18:2 and 5,9,12-18:3 acids) are present in considerably higher amounts than the C20Δ5-olefinic acids (5,11-20:2 and 5,11,14-20:3 acids).  相似文献
