The study of groundwater flow from the coal seam floor is critical to safe mining operations in China. We developed a numerical simulation model to describe flood water pathways during mining, using the field conditions present at the no. 4196 west work face in the Panxi longwall coal mine, Shandong Province, China, Groundwater flow analysis revealed unusual values for the failure depth of the coal seam floor. The high ground stress and underground pressure, excavation length, width of working face, poor mechanical properties of aquitards, and expansion of fractures by groundwater infiltration all contribute to groundwater flow into the mine. The modeling results predict the time and longwall locations associated with the maximum likelihood of flood occurrence. Such results can be used by decision makers to improve mine design and safety. 相似文献

Initially thought to act as tissue replacement, cultured epithelial allografts are now known to work by providing a potent stimulus for healing. In a similar fashion, we believe that traditional autografts may also provide a stimulus to help heal chronic wounds, thus acting as pharmacological agents for healing. We attempted to assess the possibility of augmenting the stimulatory properties of donor skin by initiating the healing process in the donor region prior to grafting. This was accomplished by pre-wounding the donor area 3 days prior to harvesting the donor skin. We compared these 'pre-wounded' grafts to those harvested immediately. Two patients underwent punch grafting for chronic leg ulceration. Half of the ulcer was grafted with donor skin harvested from an area that was pre-wounded and the other half from freshly harvested skin. We evaluated each for improvement of granulation tissue and degree of edge effect (migration of the previously dormant wound edges). All the grafts did well. There was marked improvement in granulation tissue in the ulcer bed after grafting, and the obvious presence of an edge effect. The edge effect was increased on the site where the pre-wounded grafts were placed. It may be possible to augment the growth stimulatory properties of donor skin. This may offer therapeutic options in patients with chronic wounds. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: Synthesis of nanosized particle of Ag-doped hydroxyapatite with antibacterial properties is in the great interest in the development of new biomedical applications. In this article, we propose a method for synthesized the Ag-doped nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite. A silver-doped nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite was synthesized at 100°C in deionized water. Other phase or impurities were not observed. Silver-doped hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (Ag:HAp) were performed by setting the atomic ratio of Ag/[Ag + Ca] at 20% and [Ca + Ag]/P as 1.67. The X-ray diffraction studies demonstrate that powders made by co-precipitation at 100°C exhibit the apatite characteristics with good crystal structure and no new phase or impurity is found. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations suggest that these materials present a little different morphology, which reveals a homogeneous aspect of the synthesized particles for all samples. The presence of calcium (Ca), phosphor (P), oxygen (O), and silver (Ag) in the Ag:HAp is confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray (EDAX) analysis. FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopies revealed that the presence of the various vibrational modes corresponds to phosphates and hydroxyl groups. The strain of Staphylococcus aureus was used to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the Ca10-xAgx(PO4)6(OH)2 (x = 0 and 0.2). In vitro bacterial adhesion study indicated a significant difference between HAp (x = 0) and Ag:HAp (x = 0.2). The Ag:Hap nanopowder showed higher inhibition. 相似文献

Decades ago, we and many other groups showed a nucleo-cytoplasmic translocation of La protein in cultured cells. This shuttling of La protein was seen after UV irradiation, virus infections, hydrogen peroxide exposure and the Fenton reaction based on iron or copper ions. All of these conditions are somehow related to oxidative stress. Unfortunately, these harsh conditions could also cause an artificial release of La protein. Even until today, the shuttling and the cytoplasmic function of La/SS-B is controversially discussed. Moreover, the driving mechanism for the shuttling of La protein remains unclear. Recently, we showed that La protein undergoes redox-dependent conformational changes. Moreover, we developed anti-La monoclonal antibodies (anti-La mAbs), which are specific for either the reduced form of La protein or the oxidized form. Using these tools, here we show that redox-dependent conformational changes are the driving force for the shuttling of La protein. Moreover, we show that translocation of La protein to the cytoplasm can be triggered in a ligand/receptor-dependent manner under physiological conditions. We show that ligands of toll-like receptors lead to a redox-dependent shuttling of La protein. The shuttling of La protein depends on the redox status of the respective cell type. Endothelial cells are usually resistant to the shuttling of La protein, while dendritic cells are highly sensitive. However, the deprivation of intracellular reducing agents in endothelial cells makes endothelial cells sensitive to a redox-dependent shuttling of La protein. 相似文献

Activated carbon (AC) is an adsorbent used in most adsorption processes related to micro removal of pollutants from the water phase, but the application is limited due to high costs and environmental issues related to the disposal after saturation. Different regeneration techniques, reducing costs and minimizing environmental impact, are reported for the reuse of saturated AC. These techniques can be performed via two separate strands: regeneration based only on desorption of adsorbed compounds in AC, or based on the decomposition of pollutants adsorbed on AC. Literature on the regeneration of saturated ACs is reviewed and promising techniques are highlighted. A molecular distillation plant, built particularly to increase the separation efficiency and to obtain safer working conditions,
was tested to remove cholesterol from anhydrous butter and lard. A preliminary experiment was carried out with butter to evaluate
the fractionation obtained at temperatures between 190 and 250°C and residual pressures between 10−3 and 10−4 torr. A second experiment was carried out at 185°C and at the maximum operational vacuum, evaluating the fractionation achieved

New hydrogels based on maleic anhydride (MA) modified collagen were prepared with the aim of overcoming the high degradation rate displayed by collagen that is not otherwise chemically crosslinked. Semi-interpenetrated matrices were obtained by free radical polymerization of maleilated collagen (CM) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) in the presence of ammonium persulfate (APS) and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine (TEMED) as initiating system. The resulting matrices (CMH) had a sharp decrease in degradation, when compared to pure collagen. FTIR and H1 NMR spectroscopies were used to confirm the incorporation of MA on the collagen peptide chains. The final composition of CMH was found to be strongly dependent by the concentration of maleilated collagen. The morphology of the hydrogels was studied by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the macro-gel structure was confirmed. Water uptake of the synthetised hydrogels is influenced by both composition and the porosity of the matrices. 相似文献
