Solvothermal technique has been used for the synthesis of Fe-doped CdS nanorods (Cd1?xFexS) with (x = 0.0, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5). Structural analysis carried out using X-ray diffraction reveals the formation of defect-free hexagonal phase of the CdS nanorods. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis confirms the presence of elements Cd, Fe and S in their stoichiometric ratio. Blue shift in the band gap, as compared to the bulk CdS, has been observed in UV–visible spectra. The decrease in the intensity of the photoluminescence peaks confirms the quenching of spectra upon Fe doping. Transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and selected area diffraction studies confirm the polycrystalline nature as well as growth of CdS nanorods along (112) plane. Magnetic study confirms the ferromagnetic nature of the synthesized nanorods. Magnetic saturation has been found to be 0.187, 0.300, 0.450, 0.675, 0.600 emu g?1, respectively, for undoped, 3, 5, 10, and 15 % Fe-doped CdS.  相似文献

Tomato peel was separated from pomace by sedimentation and dried in cabinet and fluidized-bed dryer at 50–70°C using 4–12 kg/m2tray load. The drying of tomato peel took place under the falling rate period and the drying behavior was well described by Page's model with coefficient of determination greater than 0.99 and standard error of 0.003–0.016. A fluidized-bed dryer was much more efficient than a cabinet dryer to dry tomato peel. The moisture adsorption isotherms of tomato peel were obtained by equilibrating above saturated salt solutions of known a w (0.113–0.92) at 20–60°C. The data were analyzed using fifteen sorption models based on coefficient of determination, standard error, and residual plots. Modified Henderson was the best model for tomato peel with coefficient of determination >0.99, standard error <0.210, and a scattered residual plot. The net isostearic heat of sorption, estimated using the Clausius-Clapeyron equation, was 0.74–23.23 kJ/mol at 2.0–2.5% moisture content (dry basis).  相似文献

We report on the effect of phase immiscibility on the structure and optical properties of spin-coated polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and polyphenylene oxide (PPO) polyblends using X-ray diffraction, IR absorption, optical absorption and florescence spectroscopic techniques. The broad diffraction halos in the X-ray diffraction patterns reveal the semi-crystalline nature for the synthesized polyblends. The change in q value for both the deconvoluted halos confirms the variation in the molecular interactions while the decrease in their fwhm values signify the enhancement in crystalline nature with the blending. The infrared absorption studies were used to elucidate the interaction of functional groups in the spin-coated polyblends. The position of three excitonic bands and the red shift in the optical absorption edge with the increase in the PPO content has been observed for these polyblends. The six time enhancement in fluorescence peak intensity in visible region (~500 nm) for immiscible blend (50/50) composition has been of importance for the design of low cost luminescent and photovoltaic devices.  相似文献

Solid C60 is known to undergo dimerization under suitable conditions of temperature and pressure. We use a potential model (6-exponential potential) to study the changes leading to the formation of various dimers by hydrostatic pressure on C60 solid at elevated temperatures. We have earlier shown, using Tersoff and Brenner potentials, that a system of two bucky-balls can form a dimer by bonding in different ways, when they start with different orientations at close distances. Based on this, we suggest the required preconditions (P-T curve) for the formation of different dimers from the pristine solid. Stability of the bucky-ball under internal or external pressure has also been studied using Tersoff and Brenner potentials. These two potentials have been compared for their applicability under high pressure conditions as well as for dimerization. We have also estimated the bulk modulus of the bucky-ball at several pressures (under which the molecule remains stable). The values of bulk modulus agree closely with those reported in earlier calculations around zero pressure. When the pressure inside the bucky-ball exceeds 116 GPa, it is seen to break open. This is in close agreement with the findings of molecular dynamics calculations.  相似文献

A selective solid-phase extraction procedure using chemically modified Amberlite XAD-4 with monoaza dibenzo 18-crown-6 ether was investigated for the preconcentration and separation of La(III), Nd(III) and Sm(III) in synthetic solution. Before loading samples on synthesized adsorbent adjust pH 4.5 by suitable buffer solution. The adsorbed rare earth elements were eluted by 2 M hydrochloric acid. Various parameters like preconcentration, breakthrough capacity, flow rate were investigated. The limits of detection (n = 5) and limits of quantification (n = 5) for La(III), Nd(III) and Sm(III) were founded 3.9, 4.2 and 7.4 μg L?1 and 13, 15 and 26 μg L?1, respectively. The eluted metal ions were determined by ICP-AES.  相似文献

The survival of Salmonella, Escherichia coli O157:H7, and Listeria monocytogenes was determined on almonds and pistachios held at typical storage temperatures. Almond kernels and inshell pistachios were inoculated with four- to six-strain cocktails of nalidixic acid-resistant Salmonella, E. coli O157:H7, or L. monocytogenes at 6 log CFU/g and then dried for 72 h. After drying, inoculated nuts were stored at -19, 4, or 24°C for up to 12 months. During the initial drying period after inoculation, levels of all pathogens declined by 1 to -log CFU/g on both almonds and pistachios. During storage, moisture content (4.8%) and water activity (0.4) of the almonds and pistachios were consistent at -19°C; increased slowly to 6% and 0.6, respectively, at 4°C; and fluctuated from 4 to 5% and 0.3 to 0.5 at 24°C, respectively. Every 1 or 2 months, levels of each pathogen were enumerated by plating; samples were enriched when levels fell below the limit of detection. No reduction in population level was observed at -19 or 4°C for either pathogen, with the exception of E. coli O157:H7-inoculated almonds stored at 4°C (decline of 0.09 log CFU/g/month). At 24°C, initial rates of decline were 0.20, 0.60, and 0.71 log CFU/g/month on almonds and 0.15, 0.35, and 0.86 log CFU/g/month on pistachios for Salmonella, E. coli O157:H7, and L. monocytogenes, respectively, but distinct tailing of the survival curves was noted for both E. coli O157:H7 and L. monocytogenes.  相似文献

Thermal decomposition of cobalt tris(malonato)ferrate(III)trihydrate precursor, Co3[Fe(CH2C2O4)3]·3H2O has been investigated from ambient temperature to 600 °C in static air atmosphere using various physico-chemical techniques, i.e. TG–DTG–DSC, XRD, Mössbauer and IR spectroscopic techniques. The precursor undergoes dehydration and decomposition simultaneously to yield cobalt malonate and iron(II) malonate intermediates at 205 °C. At higher temperature (325 °C) these intermediate species undergo exothermic decomposition to yield CoO and α-Fe2O3, respectively. Finally cobalt ferrite, CoFe2O4, has been obtained as a result of solid–solid reaction between Fe2O3 and CoO at a temperature (380 °C) much lower than that of ceramic method. SEM analysis of the final thermolysis product reveals the formation of monodisperse cobalt ferrite nano-particles with an average particle size of 45 nm. Magnetic studies show that these particles have a saturation magnetization of 3095 G and Curie temperature of 504 °C. Lower magnitude of these parameters as compared to the bulk values is attributed to the smaller particle size.  相似文献

Austenitization process of three SG irons with varying compositions and as cast matrix microstructure has been studied at three austenitization temperatures of 850, 900 and 950C for different time periods. Microstructure, hardness and X-ray diffraction have been used to reveal the nature of dependence of the process on austenitization temperature, time and as cast structure. The optimum austenitization time is maximum for ferritic and minimum for pearlitic matrix.  相似文献
