A glass foam (GF) of high specific compressive strength (12.17±1.91 MPa g−1 cm−3) and low thermal conductivity (.121±.001 Wm−1 K−1) was produced from waste glass of photovoltaic module, eggshells, and bentonite clay. The influences of the amount of clay and heat-treatment temperature on the GFs final properties were assessed. X-ray diffraction results and the data of microscopic analyses demonstrated that addition of clay affected the structure and porosity of the GFs, and consequently their mechanical properties. On the basis of the mechanical property (density), the GF that composed of 80% waste glass, 10% clay, and 10% eggshell at the sintering temperature of 900°C was the best. The GFs reported in this study could serve as promising insulators in situations where high load support is required.  相似文献

One of the alternatives to decrease the concentration of CO is its oxidation reaction to CO2, which can be made more efficient using catalysts. In this work, it is shown that pyrochlore structures are a promising candidate to act as heterogeneous catalysts due to their chemical and physical properties. For use as a catalyst in this reaction, the Pr2Zr2−xFexOδ (x = 0, 0.05, 0.10, and 0.15) system was synthesized by the solvothermal method, firing the powder obtained at temperatures of 1200 and 1400°C. The diffraction patterns confirmed the pyrochlore structure as the single phase in all the nominal compositions. The Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method and dynamic light-scattering analysis showed an increase in the particle size and a decrease in the specific surface area when increasing the iron concentration and increasing the calcination temperature. The compositions that presented the best catalytic activity were the samples with the highest iron concentration. Moreover, these samples were able to convert all the CO oxidation reactions in a narrower temperature range than a conventional CeO2 sample. The presence of vacancies and the redox behavior of the elements present are the key factors for the catalysis of this system in the CO oxidation reaction.  相似文献

A few authors have reasonably proposed that liquid–liquid phase-separated (LLPS) glasses could show improved fracture strength, Sf, and toughness, KIc, as the second phase could provide a barrier to crack propagation via deflection, bowing, trapping, or bridging. Due to the associated tensile or compressive residual stresses, the second phase could also act as a toughening or a weakening mechanism. In this work, we investigated five glasses of the PbO–B2O3–Al2O3 system spanning across the miscibility gap: Four of them undergo LLPS—three are binodal (two B2O3-rich and one PbO-rich) and one is spinodal—and one does not show LLPS (composition outside the miscibility gap). Their compositions were designed in such a way that the amorphous particles are under compressive residual stresses in some and under tensile residual stresses in others. The following mechanical properties were determined: the Vickers hardness, ball on three balls (B3B) strength, and toughness, KIc-SEVNB (single-edge V-notch beam [SEVNB]). The microstructures and compositions were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The spinodal glass showed, by far, the best mechanical properties. Its KIc-SEVNB = 1.6 ± 0.1 MPa m1/2, which embodies an increase of almost 50% over the B2O3-rich binodal composition, and 90% considering the PbO-rich binodal composition. Moreover, its fracture strength, Sf = 166 ± 7 MPa, is one of the highest ones ever reported for an LLPS glass. Fracture analyses evidenced that the spinodal composition exhibited the lowest net stress at the fracture point. Moreover, calculations indicate that the internal residual stress level is the lowest in the spinodal glass. The overall results indicate that the microstructural effect of the spinodal glass is the most significant factor for its superior mechanical properties. This work corroborates the idea that LLPS provides a feasible and stimulating solution to improve the mechanical properties of glasses.  相似文献

Piezoelectric films were prepared by incorporation of lithium niobate (LiNbO3) nanoparticles into copolymer of vinylidene difluoride and trifluoroethylene. Nanoparticles of LiNbO3 with ferroelectric phase were successfully synthesized and dispersed homogenously by ultrasonication in the copolymer matrix without any surfactant or surface functionalization. The nanocomposites were fully characterized by electronic microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamical mechanical analysis, and piezometer. Surprisingly, the copolymer matrix crystallinity and morphology were not affected by the incorporation of nanoparticles. Therefore the nanocomposites remained good mechanicals properties and high ferroelectricity coupled to nonlinear optical activity thanks to the noncentro symmetric space group of lithium niobate. This study evaluated the effectiveness of benzodioxole derivatives as coinitiators of radical polymerization in a model‐dental adhesive resin. To compose the adhesive resin, a monomer mixture based on 50 wt % of Bis‐GMA, 25 wt % of TEGDMA, and 25 wt % of HEMA was used. Camphorquinone (CQ) 1 mol % was used as a photoinitiator to initiate polymerization. 1,3‐Benzodioxole (BDO) and piperonyl alcohol (PA) were used as coinitiators at 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 mol % level. In addition, tertiary amine, ethyl 4‐dimethylamino benzoate (EDAB) was used as coinitiator in the control group. Some physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of the polymer formed in the experimental adhesives were evaluated using the kinetics of polymerization, sorption and solubility, flexural strength, and elastic modulus tests. The results indicated that BDO and PA were effective coinitiators in the photoinitiator system based on CQ. Comparisons between the benzodioxoles derivative coinitiators and EDAB showed similar performance in the kinetics of polymerization and flexural strength. For water sorption and solubility evaluation, BDO and PA demonstrated significantly more sorption of water and less solubility than the EDAB control group. New iron(III) extraction data involving two N,N-disubstituted monoamides, N-ethyl-N-phenyloctanamide (EPHOA) and N-ethyl-N-cyclohexyloctanamide (ECHOA), from hydrochloric acid media, are presented and discussed. These, and earlier results obtained with other similar N,N-disubstituted monoamides, are interpreted in this work through their apparent molar volumes in 1,2-dichloroethane, and all the information is being used to screen for solute-solute and solute-diluent interactions. The results collected help to understand why N-cyclohexyl monoamides are generally more efficient than their N-phenyl analogues as liquid-liquid extractants for iron(III) from 3 to 5 M hydrochloric acid solutions, and clearly denote that N-phenyl monoamides are essentially monomeric whereas N-cyclohexyl monoamide derivatives have a tendency to aggregate in the organic solution.  相似文献

In order to develop and test the integration procedure, in this paper a real time process integration involving the optimization and control of the process is presented, in this case, with the two-layer approach. The used optimization algorithms were Levenberg–Marquardt and SQP that solve a non-linear least square problem subject to bounds on the variables. The two-layer approach is a hierarchical control structure where an optimization layer calculates the set points and manipulated variables to the advanced controller, which is based on the dynamic matrix control with constraints (QDMC). The non-isothermal dynamic model of the three-phase slurry catalytic reactor with appropriate solution procedure was utilized in this work (Vasco de Toledo, E. C., Santana, P. L., Maciel, M. R. W., & Maciel Filho, R. (2001). Dynamic modeling of a three-phase catalytic slurry reactor. Chemical Engineering Science, 56, 6055–6061). The model consists on mass and heat balance equations for the catalyst particles as well as for the bulk phases of gas and liquid. The model was used to describe the dynamic behavior of hydrogenation reaction of o-cresol to obtain 2-methil-cyclohexanol, in the presence of a catalyst Ni/SiO2.  相似文献

The first part of this paper analyses the influence of the molecular weight and concentration of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and of kaolin concentration on rheology of the coating colours and on paper properties coated with ultra lightweight coatings (ULWC). In the second part, relationships between the rheological characteristics of the coating colour formulations and coated paper surface quality was also studied.New indexes on paper roughness at micro-scale are presented (RZI and SRI). In general, they show good correlation with sheet gloss. A new gloss index (SGI) is presented, accounting for the contribution of gloss from machine direction (MD) and cross direction (CD). Porosimetry was used to access microstructural characteristics in order to correlate them with light scattering and gloss properties. The former property is closely related to Hg intrusion volume of the coated layer while gloss is related to surface porosity with pore diameters in the range of 7–15 μm as measured by Hg intrusion volume.  相似文献
