The cost, side effect profile, and required weekly blood draws associated with clozapine may dissuade some clinicians from prescribing this atypical neuroleptic to mentally retarded patients. All publications on clozapine use in mentally retarded patients are reviewed and the treatment of 10 such patients is described, bringing the total number of published cases to 84. Clozapine is efficacious and well tolerated in this population and should be considered for those patients with psychosis or bipolar illness who are intolerant of or unresponsive to other agents. 相似文献

The mechanical properties of solution treated ASTM F-75 alloys with various carbon contents have been studied. Alloys cast under the same conditions were subjected to solution treatment for several periods and then their tensile properties were evaluated. In the as-cast conditions, the alloys exhibited higher strength values with increasing carbon content whereas their ductility was not significantly affected. For the solution treated alloys, the variation of the strength was characterized by a progressive increase for short treatment times until a maximum value was achieved, which was followed by a diminution in this property for longer treatment times. This behavior was more accentuated for the case of the alloys with medium carbon contents, which also exhibited the highest values of strength. Furthermore, the alloy’s ductility was enhanced progressively with increasing solution treatment time. This improvement in ductility was significantly higher for the medium carbon alloys compared with the rest of the studied alloys. Thus, high and low carbon contents in solution treated ASTM F-75 alloys did not produced sufficiently high tensile properties. 相似文献

Resting lower esophageal sphincter (LES) pressure was assessed in infants and children 2 weeks to 12 years of age. There were 62 control subjects and 35 patients with reproducible gastroesophageal reflux (GER) determined radiologically. In control subjects without GER: (1) LES pressure was well developed by 2 weeks of age; (2) in children less than 1 year of age, mean LES pressure (43.3 +/- 2.4 mm Hg) was significantly greater than mean LES pressure (30.6 +/- 2.3 mm Hg) children older than 1 year of age; (3) LES sphincter length increased with age; and (4) bethanechol 0.1 mg per kg subcutaneously caused a rise in LES pressure that increased in magnitude as LES resting pressures increased. In patients with GER: (1) only 16 or 35 children had LES pressures below the normal range for their appropriate age group; (2) LES length was shorter than control values in children beyond 6 months of age; (3) GER usually occurred in the absence of hiatus hernia; (4) clinical improvement was common and in patients with low LES pressure was associated with a rise in LES pressures to normal, even in the presenece of hiatus hernia; and (5) bethanechol caused a change and an absolute rise in LES pressure that were not significantly different from those observed in controls. These results indicate that in infants and children low LES pressure is not the sole determinant of GER, and that pharmacological stimulation of the Les could prove to be a useful adjunct to the medical management of GER. 相似文献

Trace amine-associated receptor 5 (TAAR5) is a G protein-coupled receptor that belongs to the TAARs family (TAAR1-TAAR9). TAAR5 is expressed in the olfactory epithelium and is responsible for sensing 3-methylamine (TMA). However, recent studies showed that TAAR5 is also expressed in the limbic brain regions and is involved in the regulation of emotional behaviour and adult neurogenesis, suggesting that TAAR5 antagonism may represent a novel therapeutic strategy for anxiety and depression. We used the AtomNet® model, the first deep learning neural network for structure-based drug discovery, to identify putative TAAR5 ligands and tested them in an in vitro BRET assay. We found two mTAAR5 antagonists with low to submicromolar activity that are able to inhibit the cAMP production induced by TMA. Moreover, these two compounds also inhibited the mTAAR5 downstream signalling, such as the phosphorylation of CREB and ERK. These two hits exhibit drug-like properties and could be used to further develop more potent TAAR5 ligands with putative anxiolytic and antidepressant activity. 相似文献

The determination of phosphous was carried out using emulsion sample preparation followed by analysis by inductively coupled
plasma-atomic emission spectrometry. The optimal oil-in-water (o/w) emulsion and surfactant concentrations were found by applying
response surface methodology. Two phosphorus emission lines were tested. Ethoxynonylphenol was a good choice for the emulsion
preparation. The optimal concentration for the oil in the o/w emulsion and the surfactant concentrations were ca. 8.0–37% w/w and ca. 1.0–10% w/w ethoxynonylphenol, respectively, for the 213.620 nm line; and an oil phase emulsion concentration between ca. 18–32% w/w and ca. 3–8% w/w ethoxynonylphenol for the 214.911 nm emission line. Good agreement was found between calibration curves for emulsified
aqueous standards solutions and o/w emulsions. The use of aqueous standards for calibration purposes is a good addition in
the analysis of this type of oil sample where certified standards are not available. Recoveries ranged from 98 to 105% and

The potential of chitosan (CH) combined with sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP) nanoparticles as a glazing material for shrimp was investigated. Two CH–TPP nanoparticles glazing solutions were prepared: (1). A solution containing CH–TPP nanoparticles with 0.25 (g/100 mL) CH and 0.083 (g/100 mL) TPP (25CH–TPP) and (2). A solution containing CH–TPP nanoparticles with 0.5 (g/100 mL) CH and 0.167 (g/100 mL) TPP (50CH–TPP). Frozen shrimp samples were glazed with 25CH–TPP, 50CH–TPP, CH, TPP, acetic acid, and/or distilled water and then stored at −21 °C for 30 days. Glazed and non-glazed shrimp (NG) samples were analyzed for moisture content, glazing yield, weight loss, color, cutting force, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), yeasts, molds, coliforms and aerobic counts after 1, 3, 5, 20, and 30 d storage. Triplicate experiments were conducted and data statistically analyzed (α = 0.05). Glazed shrimp had higher moisture than NG after 30 d storage. Among the glazes, 25CH–TPP and 50CH–TPP were the most effective in controlling lipid oxidation and reducing aerobic counts and yeasts and molds in shrimp. 相似文献

Inadequate postharvest handling and storage under high temperature and relative humidity conditions produce the hard‐to‐cook (HTC) defect in beans. However, these can be raw material to produce hydrolysates with functional activities. Angiotensin I‐converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory and antioxidant capacities were determined for extensively hydrolysed proteins of HTC bean produced with sequential systems Alcalase‐Flavourzyme (AF) and pepsin–pancreatin (Pep‐Pan) at 90 min ACE inhibition expressed as IC50 values were 4.5 and 6.5 mg protein per mL with AF and Pep‐Pan, respectively. Antioxidant activity as Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) was 8.1 mm mg?1 sample with AF and 6.4 mm mg?1 sample with Pep‐Pan. The peptides released from the protein during hydrolysis were responsible for the observed ACE inhibition and antioxidant activities. Nitrogen solubility, emulsifying capacity, emulsion stability, foaming capacity and foam stability were measured for limited hydrolysis produced with Flavourzyme and pancreatin at 15 min. Polyethylene–montmorillonite nanocomposites were prepared in the melt applying various ultrasonic powers (231, 347, and 462 W) and temperatures (185, 200, and 215 °C) in the presence of itaconic acid. Dispersion–exfoliation of montmorillonite and in situ low density polyethylene functionalization with itaconic acid were carried out by ultrasound assisted extrusion process. Clay dispersion and exfoliation was evaluated by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and electronic microscopy (STEM). The degree of grafting itaconic acid into low density polyethylene (LDPE) was determined by infrared analysis (FTIR) and titration technics. Ultrasound‐treated nanocomposites showed improved clay dispersion compared with non‐treated ones. Mechanical properties, XRD, and STEM microscopy indicated that the grafting level, clay dispersion, and exfoliation was directly influenced by IA concentration, temperature, and ultrasonic energy. For instance, the itaconic acid grafted into LDPE was improved from 0.13% to 0.71% when ultrasound power was increased and when temperature was reduced. The modulus was enhanced up to 225 MPa when the ultrasound power was increased up to 462 W. The nanocomposites decomposition temperature, determined by thermogravimetric analysis, was increased nearly 20 °C when 1% w/w itaconic acid was used. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. We report a case of a newborn infant whose mother had systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) diagnosed before pregnancy. The child had clinical manifestations of neonatal lupus as well as chondrodysplasia punctata and other findings that resemble the congenital anomalies associated with the use of oral anticoagulants, with no history of exposure. We speculate that the combined action of the different maternal autoantibodies may produce the whole spectrum of manifestations. 相似文献
