Microwave heating, because of its advantages of direct and rapid heating of materials, has the potential to be employed as a novel regeneration method of desiccant rotors in humidity conditioners. We proposed a combined regeneration process, which combines microwave heating and conventional hot-air heating. The system is expected to achieve high heating rate during an initial regeneration period by assisting water desorption using the additional energy of the microwave. In this study, the regeneration characteristics of a desiccant rotor were experimentally investigated under conditions of microwave heating, hot-air heating, and combined heating at various microwave powers and hot-air temperatures. The effectiveness of the combined regeneration was evaluated in terms of the regeneration ratio, the initial regeneration rate, the temperature distribution in the rotor, and finally in terms of the energy consumption. It was demonstrated that combined heating was effective at leveling non-uniform temperature distribution in the rotor. Combined heating achieved higher ratios and initial rates in regeneration compared to just microwave and hot-air heating. This result was obviously attributed to the additional input of microwave energy, resulting that average rotor temperature increased by microwave absorption of rotor. Moreover, it was also effective for enhancement of regeneration to level the temperature distribution in the rotor by combination of two heating methods with different heating mechanisms. Both the initial regeneration rate and the equilibrium regeneration ratio for combined heating were found to increase as the microwave power increased. A linear relationship was observed with respect to microwave power. From the viewpoint of energy consumption, it may be possible to apply combined and microwave heating to humidity control systems that switch between adsorption and regeneration in short cycle times, if the conversion and absorption efficiencies of the microwave are significantly improved.  相似文献

When using multiple Kinects, there must be enough distances among neighboring Kinects to avoid spoiled range data caused by the interference of their infrared speckle patterns. In the arrangement, their overlapped regions are too small to apply existing calibration methods using correspondences between their observations straightforwardly. Therefore, we propose a method to calibrate Kinects without large overlapped regions. In our method, first, we add extra RGB cameras in an environment to compensate overlapped regions. Thanks to them, we can estimate their camera parameters by obtaining correspondences between color images. Next, for accurate calibration, which considers range data as well as color images of Kinects, we optimize the estimated parameters by minimizing both the errors of correspondences between color images and those of range data of planar regions, which exist in a general environment such as walls and floors. Although our method consists of conventional techniques, its combination is optimized to achieve the calibration. © 2015 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Prepolymerizations of 4,4′‐bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMI), diallyl isocyanurate (DAIC), and melamine (ML) at 160–170°C and subsequent compression molding at 200–280°C yielded cured BMI/DAIC/ML resins with feed molar ratios of 4/1/1, 3/1/1, and 2/1/1 (BMI‐DAIC‐ML411, 311, and 211). Similarly, cured BMI/DAIC 1/1 and BMI/ML 3/1 resins (BMI‐DAIC11 and BMI‐ML31) were prepared. The FT‐IR analysis revealed that the maleimide and allyl groups were almost consumed for all the cured resins, and the hydrogen bonding interaction became stronger with decreasing BMI contents for BMI‐DAIC‐MLs. Based on the cured structures elucidated from the FT‐IR result, the numbers of multiple hydrogen bonds and cross‐linking covalent bonds (NMHB and NCB), and total cross‐linking bond energy (ETB) were evaluated to be 0, 7.92, and 618 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML411, 0.71, 7.81, and 627 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML311, and 0.95 mol kg?1, 7.61 mol kg?1, and 617 kcal kg?1 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML211, respectively. A higher order of glass transition and 5% weight loss temperatures for BMI‐DAIC‐MLs was 411 > 311 > 211 in accordance with a higher order of NCB. BMI‐DAIC‐MLs displayed a weak tan δ peak at 70–150°C due to dissociation of the hydrogen bonds. The flexural strength and modulus of BMI‐DAIC‐ML311 were higher than those of BMI‐DAIC‐ML411 in accordance with the difference of ETB. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. We describe a nickel‐catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura arylation of a tertiary iodocyclopropane with arylboronic acids; this is an efficient and convergent strategy for providing various enantioenriched arylcyclopropanes with a quaternary stereogenic center. This is the first metal‐catalyzed coupling between a tertiary alkyl electrophile and a wide range of aromatics, including heteroaromatics. We found that the outcome of the Ni‐catalyzed coupling with halides as electrophiles was dependent on the stability of the radical species formed during the reaction. The use of tert‐butyl alcohol (t‐BuOH) as the reaction solvent was very effective, because of its stability under the radical‐generating reaction conditions.

In a placebo-controlled double-blind study, we examined the effects of dressing containing plant sterol (PS) on blood lipids and the safety in Japanese borderline or mildly hypercholesterolemic subjects. Fifty-nine subjects [total cholesterol (TC) concentration > or = 200 mg/dL] were randomly divided into two groups and were given daily 15 g of dressing containing 800 mg of PS [PS(+)-group] or without PS [PS(-)-group] for 12 weeks. Every 4 weeks, fasting blood was examined and subjective symptoms were analyzed. Serum TC, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and apolipoprotein B (ApoB) concentrations did not change in the PS(-)-group, while TC and ApoB significantly decreased in the PS(+)-group at 8 and 12 weeks and LDL-C at 4, 8 and 12 weeks. Moreover, serum TC, LDL-C and ApoB concentrations were significantly lower than those of PS(-)-group at 8 and 12 weeks. Other laboratory tests were all in normal ranges and no adverse events were observed. The results indicated that PS-containing dressing decreased serum TC, LDL-C and ApoB concentrations in borderline or mildly hypercholesterolemic subjects. It is therefore proved that the dressing containing PS is helpful in maintaining blood cholesterol level normal and hence, the health of Japanese.  相似文献

A new method to modify coordinates of detectors in any positron emission tomography (PET) system using a radioactive point source is developed. This method is based on selecting a centered detector in each detector block of PET and measuring coincidence counts between the two centered detectors in opposite detector blocks to find the coordinates of their LOR (Line of Response). Due to slight misalignment of detector positions, measured LORs may not intersect at a single point. Based on the proposed method, the coordinates of detectors can be measured with very high accuracy and the coordinate of the center of the gantry (which is normally the same as the center of field of view) can be defined correctly. The results of the application of our method to a small animal PET system (FinePET), which was recently developed at Tohoku University, Japan, are shown here. The method is expected to contribute to the design and development of PET systems which can realize a very high spatial resolution of less than 1 mm FWHM.  相似文献

Ni–Cr–Al metallic foam absorber with high porosity was catalytically activated using a Ru/γ-Al2O3 catalyst, and was subsequently tested with respect to CO2 reforming of methane in a small-scale volumetric receiver-reactor by using a sun-simulator. A chemical storage efficiency of 37% was obtained for a mean light flux of 325 kW m−2. Furthermore, the activity and the stability of the metallic foam absorber were compared with those of a SiC foam absorber activated with the same Ru/γ-Al2O3 catalyst for 50 h of light irradiation, and it was found that the metallic foam absorber has superior catalytic stability in comparison to the SiC form absorber. In addition, unlike ceramic foams such as SiC, metallic foams feature superior plasticity, which prevents the emergence of cracks caused by mechanical or thermal shock.  相似文献

Acoustic emission (AE) technique is applied to locate existing breakdown failure in concrete. Damage was generated in a concrete sample applying 6.4 kJ energy of pulsed-electric discharge. Both AE parameter analysis and waveform analysis were carried out. From results of AE parameter analysis, AE sources associated with existing breakdown failure were identified in the compression test. Prior to location analysis, AE waveforms detected were de-noised by employing the wavelet transform. The area of breakdown failure in concrete is identified by the source location analysis of these de-noised AE waveforms. Five locations of breakdown failure are found in the concrete sample. Micro-cracks occur starting from the lower part of concrete sample and then spread randomly in entire concrete body.  相似文献

Recent computational studies (Phys. Rev. Lett. 70 (1993) 1960; Phys. Rev. B 62 (2000) 17055) predicted that friction of ordered organic monolayer had characteristic dependence on temperature, where the maximum friction was observed around rotator transition point of the monolayer. This remained to be confirmed experimentally. Using a friction force microscope (FFM) combined with a temperature regulation module, we attempted to investigate such dependence on temperature (130 K-room temperature) on a self-assembled monolayer of dodecanethiol prepared on Au(1 1 1). The observed friction showed strong dependence on temperature and good agreement with the computational prediction.  相似文献
