We have synthesized pure and Mg-alloyed hematite thin films on F-doped, SnO2-coated glass substrates by radiofrequency magnetron cosputtering of iron oxide with and without MgO sources in mixed Ar/O2 and mixed N2/O2 ambient. We found that hematite films deposited in N2/O2 ambient exhibited much poorer crystallinity than those deposited in Ar/O2 ambient. We determined that Mg alloying led to increased crystallinity and bandgap. Furthermore, we found that Mg alloying inverted the type of conductivity of the thin films: pure hematite thin films exhibited n-type conductivity, whereas Mg-alloyed hematite thin films exhibited p-type conductivity.  相似文献

For more than 25 years, the CdTe photovoltaic research and manufacturing communities have been subjecting CdTe materials to a CdCl2 treatment or activation step to improve performance. However, little work has been carried out using imaging to elucidate the spatial distribution of chlorine in the CdTe devices after this treatment. This work addresses fundamental questions about the spatial distribution of chlorine in the CdTe absorber material after a CdCl2 treatment comparable to industrial practices. We used a state‐of‐the‐art, time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometer (ION‐TOF GmbH) (Muenster, Germany) with a lateral resolution of about 80 nm to complete three‐dimensional depth‐profiling and imaging of two CdTe devices. The results clearly demonstrate enhanced chlorine concentration along grain boundaries, supporting the hypothesis that chlorine plays an important role in passivating grain boundaries in CdTe solar cells. The results are discussed in terms of possible passivation mechanisms, and the effect of chlorine on grain interiors and grain boundaries. The data are also used to estimate the free energy of segregation of chlorine to grain boundaries in CdTe. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ga and N co-incorporated ZnO thin films [ZnO:(Ga:N)] with reduced bandgaps were deposited by co-sputtering at different N2 gas flow rate in mixed N2 and O2 ambient at room temperature followed by postannealing at 500 °C in air for 2 h. We found that all of the ZnO:(Ga:N) films exhibited enhanced crystallinity which can suppress the recombination rate between the photogenerated electrons and holes. However, phase segregation of Zn3N2 occurred in ZnO:(Ga:N) thin films in nitrogen-rich sputtering ambient. We found that ZnO:(Ga:N) thin films without phase separation of Zn3N2 exhibited much better photoelectrochemical (PEC) response, due to the reduced bandgap and better crystallinity. Our results suggest that growth conditions must be controlled carefully to avoid phase separation in Ga and N co-incorporated ZnO thin films to improve PEC response.  相似文献

Fifth generation (5G) cellular networks promise to support multi-radio access technologies (multi-RATs) with low and high frequencies aiming at delivering good coverage, several gigabits data rate, and ultra-reliable services. In this context, user-association and resource allocation appear to be a huge challenge due to the variety of specifications and varied propagation environments. In this treatise, the focus is on the technical and administrative difficulties of the adoption of user association (UA) mechanism and spectrum sharing approach (SSA) in millimeter wave (mmWave) systems, for example, the technical design considerations and their underlying options, as well as their impact on users and network performance. In addition, details on the importance of the rules and regulations of SSA are presented. This study also identified a few possible design solutions and potential promising technologies in both UA and SSA. In the context of UA, several mechanisms are identified, such as backhaul-, caching-, and hybrid multi-criteria-aware UA to achieve seamless connectivity and to enhance the network utility. In the context of SSA, this study pinpoints varied subjects that need to be explored, such as joint efficient rules and regulations enactment, assessment of fairness and independence in multi-independent mobile network operators (multi-IMNOs) that support SSA, as well as the implementation of hybrid-SSA via Virtualized Cloud Radio Access Network. Finally, attention is drawn to several key conclusions to enable readers and interested researchers to learn about the most controversial points of mmWave 5G cellular networks.
