Metamorphic viruses are particularly insidious as they change their form at each infection, thus making detection hard. Many techniques have been proposed to produce metamorphic malware, and many approaches have been explored to detect it. This paper introduces a detection technique that relies on the assumption that a side effect of the most common metamorphic engines is the dissemination of a high number of repeated instructions in the body of the virus program. We have evaluated our technique on a population of 1,000 programs and the experimentation outcomes indicate that it is accurate in classifying metamorphic viruses and viruses of other nature, too. Virus writers use to introduce code from benign files in order to evade antivirus; our technique is able to recognize virus even if benign code is added to it.  相似文献

In this study, we investigate the hydrodynamics of polymer-induced drag reduction (DR) in horizontal turbulent pipe flows. We provide spatiotemporally resolved information of velocity and its gradients obtained with particle image velocimetry measurements in solutions of water with dissolved polyethylene oxide of three different molecular weights (MWs), at various dilute concentrations and with flow Reynolds numbers from 35,000 to 210,000. We find that the local magnitudes of important turbulent flow variables correlate with the measured levels of DR irrespective of the flow Reynolds number, polymer weight, and concentration. Contour maps illustrate the spatial characteristics of this correlation. A relationship between the DR and the turbulent flow variables is found. The effects of the polymer MW, its concentration, and the Reynolds number on the flow are further examined through joint probability distributions of the fluctuations of the streamwise and spanwise velocity components.  相似文献

This paper aims to understand the influence of institutional and organisational embeddedness on research productivity of Italian sociologists. We looked at all records published by Italian sociologists in Scopus from 1973 to 2016 and reconstructed their co-authorship patterns. We built an individual productivity index by considering the number and type of records, the impact factor of journals in which these records were published and each record’s citations. We found that sociologists who co-authored more frequently with international authors were more productive and that having a stable group of co-authors had a positive effect on the number of publications but not on citations. We found that organisational embeddedness has a positive effect on productivity at the group level (i.e., sociologists working in the same institute), less at the individual level. We did not found any effect of the scientific disciplinary sectors, which are extremely influential administratively and politically for promotion and career in Italy. With all caveats due to several limitations of our analysis, our findings suggest that internationalisation and certain context-specific organisational settings could promote scientist productivity .  相似文献

The aim of the research is to investigate whether the structure of knowledge networks and the variety of the local industrial structure are important for regional innovation and if the interplay between these two forces has an additional effect on local innovativeness. The research analyses co-patenting collaborations at firm level in the Italian provinces in three five-year intervals in the period 2001–2016. Results show that the structure of knowledge networks and agglomeration economies of inventors boost local inventive capacity. It also highlights how these forces have an increasing impact on innovation as the variety of the area increases.  相似文献

Commercial buildings are responsible for a significant share of the energy requirements of European Union countries. Related consumptions due to heating, cooling, and lighting appear, in most cases, very high and expensive. Since the real estate is renewed with a very small percentage each year and current trends suggest reusing the old structures, strategies for improving energy efficiency and sustainability should focus not only on new buildings, but also and especially on existing ones. Architectural renovation of existing buildings could provide an opportunity to enhance their energy efficiency, by working on the improvement of envelopes and energy supply systems. It has also to be noted that the measures aimed to improve the energy performance of buildings should pay particular attention to the cost-effectiveness of the interventions. In general, there is a lack of well-established methods for retrofitting, but if a case study achieves effective results, the adopted strategies and methodologies can be successfully replicated for similar kinds of buildings. In this paper, an iterative methodology for energy retrofit of commercial buildings is presented, together with a specific application on an existing office building. The case study is particularly significant as it is placed in an urban climatic context characterized by cold winters and hot summers; consequently, HVAC energy consumption is considerable throughout the year. The analysis and simulations of energy performance before and after the intervention, along with measured data on real energy performance, demonstrate the validity of the applied approach. The specifically developed design and refurbishment methodology, presented in this work, could be also assumed as a reference in similar operations.  相似文献

Nanoparticle-based magnetic hyperthermia is a well-known thermal therapy platform studied to treat solid tumors, but its use for monotherapy is limited due to incomplete tumor eradication at hyperthermia temperature (45 °C). It is often combined with chemotherapy for obtaining a more effective therapeutic outcome. Cubic-shaped cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (Co–Fe NCs) serve as magnetic hyperthermia agents and as a cytotoxic agent due to the known cobalt ion toxicity, allowing the achievement of both heat and cytotoxic effects from a single platform. In addition to this advantage, Co–Fe NCs have the unique ability to form growing chains under an alternating magnetic field (AMF). This unique chain formation, along with the mild hyperthermia and intrinsic cobalt toxicity, leads to complete tumor regression and improved overall survival in an in vivo murine xenograft model, all under clinically approved AMF conditions. Numerical calculations identify magnetic anisotropy as the main Co–Fe NCs’ feature to generate such chain formations. This novel combination therapy can improve the effects of magnetic hyperthermia, inaugurating investigation of mechanical behaviors of nanoparticles under AMF, as a new avenue for cancer therapy.  相似文献

On the bases of a field geostructural and geomechanical survey, we evaluate the stress field and structural regime responsible for the deformation of the rock-mass in the Machaerus area, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the eastern side of the Dead Sea Transform Fault. The resulted data are compared to those from deep mines and base tunnels in order to evaluate the potentiality of using geostructural data to envisage the stress-field for new geoengeneering projects. It resulted the Machareus rock mass was deformed at a depth of about 500–900 m with a deviatoric stresses of the order of σ 1 =15 MPa, σ 2 =10 MPa and σ 3 =−25 MPa, being σ 3 vertical. The stress field orientation is consistent with the left-lateral kinematics of the nearby Dead-Sea transform fault.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Within co-design sessions involving designers and non-designers, the type and characteristics of the design representations employed is known to impact the performance of such sessions in terms of idea generation, idea evaluation and communication. This study captures the challenges practitioners face in creating and using design representations for co-design sessions and goes on to investigate the potential of Spatial Augmented Reality (SAR) to overcome those challenges. The advantages of SAR in this application are that, multiple concepts can be represented using one physical model, concepts can be modified live during the session, and additional equipment (such as head mounted displays or handheld devices) is not required, thus eliminating any possible interference with the natural interactions between participants. Interviews with design practitioners and trials with a prototype SAR system are used to identify the key challenges faced by practitioners in their current use of design representations, and to capture the technology requirements for a SAR system for use in co-design sessions. These findings can inform the work of technology developers and researchers working on systems to support co-design sessions.  相似文献

This article explores and proposes new ways of performing in a technology-mediated environment. We present a case study that examines feedback loop relationships between a dancer and a pianist. Rather than using data from sensor technologies to directly control and affect musical parameters, we captured data from a dancer’s arm movements and mapped them onto a bespoke device that stimulates the pianist’s tactile sense through vibrations. The pianist identifies and interprets the tactile sensory experience, with his improvised performance responding to the changes in haptic information received. Our system presents a new way of technology-mediated performer interaction through tactile feedback channels, enabling the user to establish new creative pathways. We present a classification of vibrotactile interaction as means of communication, and we conclude how users experience multi-point vibrotactile feedback as one holistic experience rather than a collection of discrete feedback points.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of a new Co(II) spin-crossover (SCO) complex based on 4′-(4-carboxyphenyl)−2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine ligand are reported. This complex can be successfully grafted on silver surface maintaining the SCO behavior. Thus, atomic force microscopy (AFM), matrix assisted laser desorption ionization – time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), Raman spectroscopy, and XPS measurements, upon surface deposition, evidence the formation of a monolayer of intact molecules grafted through carboxylate groups to the Ag surface. Three different techniques: Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), supported by first-principles calculations, confirm that the deposited molecules undergo a gradual spin transition with temperature. This phenomenon is unprecedented for a monolayer of molecules directly grafted onto a metallic surface from solution.  相似文献
