Polystyrene (PS) blocks in poly(styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene) (PS-PIB-PS) block copolymers were partially sulfonated and the acid groups converted to Na+SO3 groups to create ionomers. Then, dimethylacetamide was used to selectively swell the ionic PS domains and the swollen films were exposed to sol-gel reactive tetraethylorthosilicate solutions. (EtO)4−xSi(OH)x monomers then permeated films so that sol-gel reactions occurred within/around the ionic PS domains. Environmental scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy investigations showed that silicate structures can be incorporated within the interior of the ionomer films. Differential scanning calorimetry studies indicated that there is no variance in the PIB block Tg with respect to ionomer formation, or with respect to silicate loading of the ionomer at low levels, which suggests that the silicate component does not reside in the PIB phase. 23Na solid state NMR spectroscopy detected isolated Na+SO3 groups as well as aggregated SO3Na+ ion pairs for ‘as cast’ and ‘dry’ non-silicate containing ionomer samples. In a hydrated sample, almost all Na+ ions were solvent-separated. AFM analysis showed that phase separation exists, but that the degree of order is significantly less than that for hybrids based on the corresponding benzyltrimethylammonium ionomer. This frustrated morphology was also seen in the results of small angle X-ray scattering experiments. Given the scale of organic/inorganic heterogeneity, these hybrids are properly classified as nanocomposites.  相似文献

Most cell penetrating peptides (CPPs) are unstructured and susceptible to proteolytic degradation. One alternative is to incorporate D-chirality amino acids into unstructured CPPs to allow for enhanced uptake and intracellular stability. This work investigates CPP internalization using a series of time, concentration, temperature, and energy dependent studies, resulting in a three-fold increase in uptake and 50-fold increase in stability of D-chirality peptides over L-chirality counterparts. CPP internalization occurred via a combination of direct penetration and endocytosis, with a percentage of internalized CPP expelling from cells in a time-dependent manner. Mechanistic studies identified that cells exported the intact internalized D-chirality CPPs via an exocytosis independent pathway, analogous to a direct penetration method out of the cells. These findings highlight the potential of a D-chirality CPP as bio-vector in therapeutic and biosensing applications, but also identify a new expulsion method suggesting a relationship between uptake kinetics, intracellular stability, and export kinetics.  相似文献

Systems based on the service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles have become an important cornerstone of the development of enterprise-scale software applications. They are characterized by separating functions into distinct software units, called services, which can be published, requested and dynamically combined in the production of business applications. Service-oriented systems (SOSs) promise high flexibility, improved maintainability, and simple re-use of functionality. Achieving these properties requires an understanding not only of the individual artifacts of the system but also their integration. In this context, non-functional aspects play an important role and should be analyzed and modeled as early as possible in the development cycle. In this paper, we discuss modeling of non-functional aspects of service-oriented systems, and the use of these models for analysis and deployment. Our contribution in this paper is threefold. First, we show how services and service compositions may be modeled in UML by using a profile for SOA (UML4SOA) and how non-functional properties of service-oriented systems can be represented using the non-functional extension of UML4SOA (UML4SOA-NFP) and the MARTE profile. This enables modeling of performance, security and reliable messaging. Second, we discuss formal analysis of models which respect this design, in particular we consider performance estimates and reliability analysis using the stochastically timed process algebra PEPA as the underlying analytical engine. Last but not least, our models are the source for the application of deployment mechanisms which comprise model-to-model and model-to-text transformations implemented in the framework VIATRA. All techniques presented in this work are illustrated by a running example from an eUniversity case study.  相似文献

One hundred and ninety-nine participants, each of whom was currently involved in an intimate relationship within the 3D virtual world of Second Life, completed measures assessing whether they (1) viewed their 3D virtual relationship as an exercise in fantasy or one that had a quality of realism, and (2) perceived the personality characteristics of their 3D partner in more positive or idealized terms than a current or recent real life partner. Additionally, 71 of the 199 participants (36%) who were concurrently involved in a real life romantic relationship as well as their Second Life relationship provided data regarding the potential negative impact of Second Life relationships on co-occurring real life relationships. Results indicated that (1) the majority of participants viewed their Second Life relationships as real rather than as a form of game-playing, (2) participants generally reported more positive or idealized personality traits for their Second Life partners compared to their real life partners, and (3) a portion of participants in co-occurring Second Life and real life relationships indicated that their virtual relationship served as an emotional competitor or potential threat to their real life relationship, with the potential for detrimental effects rising as the couple progressively adds non-immersive digital and physical channels of communication to the original 3D relationship.  相似文献

As computer infrastructures become more complex, security models must provide means to handle more flexible and dynamic requirements. In the Organization Based Access Control (OrBAC) model, it is possible to express such requirements using the notion of context. In OrBAC, each security rule (permission, prohibition, obligation or dispensation) only applies in a given context. A context is viewed as an extra condition that must be satisfied to activate a given security rule. In this paper, we present a taxonomy of different types of context and investigate the data the information system must manage in order to deal with these different contexts. We then explain how to model and evaluate them in the OrBAC model.

We present a method to measure the absolute detection efficiency of a delay-line microchannel-plate detector using the breakup of diatomic molecular ions. This method provides the absolute total detection efficiency, as well as the individual efficiency for each signal of the detector. The method is based on the fact that molecular breakup always yields two hits on the detector, but due to finite detection efficiency some of these events are recorded as single particles while others are detected in pairs. We demonstrate the method by evaluating the detection efficiency for both timing and position signals of a delay-line detector using laser-induced dissociation of molecular ions. In addition, the detection efficiency as a function of position has been determined by dividing the detector into sectors.  相似文献

We have grown silver prisms and pentagonal bipyramids, induced by plasmon excitation on a colloidal solution under the irradiation of light emitting diodes of different colors. Two methods of synthesis of the seeds were tested and their growth evolution recorded, in order to analyze the effect of the chemical synthesis and the color of the irradiation on the morphology and size of the final product. We show that the conversion rate into anisotropic nanoparticles is determined by the chemical environment and the shift of the irradiation wavelength with respect to the plasmon resonance of the seeds. The conversion rate defines the final morphology of the nanoparticles, whereas the size of the nanoparticles is univocally determined by the wavelength of irradiation, irrespective of the method to prepare the seed solution.  相似文献

We present particle counting ultrahigh-resolution optical Doppler tomography (pc-μODT) that enables accurate imaging of red blood cell velocities (ν(RBC)) of cerebrovascular networks by detecting the Doppler phase transients induced by the passage of a RBC through a capillary. We apply pc-μODT to image the response of capillary ν(RBC) to mild hypercapnia in mouse cortex. The results show that ν(RBC) in normocapnia (ν(N)?=?0.72?±?0.15?mm/s) increased 36.1%?±?5.3% (ν(H)?=?0.98?±?0.29?mm/s) in response to hypercapnia. Due to uncorrected angle effect and low hematocrit (e.g., ~10%), ν(RBC) directly measured by μODT were markedly underestimated (ν(N) ≈ 0.27?±?0.03?mm/s, ν(H) ≈ 0.37±?0.05?mm/s). Nevertheless, the measured ν(RBC) increase (35.3%) matched that (36.1%?±?5.3%) by pc-μODT.  相似文献
