Nanosized hydroxyapatite (HA) powders were prepared by a chemical precipitation method and electrophoretically deposited on Ti6Al4V substrates. The powders were calcined before the deposition process in order to obtain crack-free coating surfaces. As an inner layer between Ti6Al4V substrate and HA coating, nanosized titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders were deposited, using different coating voltages, in order to connect substrate and HA tightly. Moreover, this layer is considered to be acting as a diffusion barrier, reducing the HA decomposition due to ion migration from the metal substrate into the HA. After the sintering stage, adhesion strengths of coatings were measured by shear testing, phase changes were studied by X-ray diffraction, and coating morphology was analyzed through scanning electron microscopy observations. Results showed that usage of the TiO2 inner layer prevented HA decomposition. Furthermore, decreasing the voltage used in TiO2 deposition resulted in crack-free surfaces and increased adhesion strength of the overall coating.  相似文献

Auxiliary ventilation is used to ventilate dead-ends of the drivages, and the most common method employed is to use auxiliary fans and ducting. In order to provide a safe and comfortable environment, it is necessary to provide sufficient air to the working areas. The optimum design of auxiliary ventilation systems may be difficult owing to the methods used in the design of such systems that require complex calculations. In this study, by evaluating data gathered from Turkish Hardcoal Enterprises, a predictive model of the volume flow rate reaching the end of a leaky ventilation duct for a simple auxiliary ventilation system was developed using multiple regression analysis. The independent variables that enter the regression were chosen as duct diameter, fan flow output, fan operating pressure, frictional pressure drop, duct length, duct resistance, and resistance coefficient of leakage paths. The coefficient of determination (R2) obtained for the predictive model was 0.931, and the residual analysis indicated that the model was statistically acceptable. Also, by using the two-sample t-test, it was shown that the developed regression model was consistent with the results obtained from another data set not included in the derivation of the presently developed regression model.  相似文献

In this paper, we undertake a parametric study to investigate how varying reference temperature from 0 to 25 °C will affect the energy and exergy efficiencies of the Balcova geothermal district heating system (BGDHS) and develop two significant correlations (with a correlation coefficient of 0.99) that can be used for predicting the efficiencies. The exergy losses in the overall BGDHS are quantified and illustrated using exergy flow diagram particularly for a reference temperature of 11.4 °C for comparison purposes. This reference temperature is taken as an average value of the ambient temperatures measured during the past 5 years for the day of 2nd January to reflect the actual situation. The results show that the exergy losses within the system occur mainly due to the losses in pumps, heat exchangers, reinjection sections of the geothermal water back into reservoir and pipeline, and account for 1.75%, 8.84%, 14.20%, and 28.69%, respectively. In addition, we study energy and exergy efficiencies to determine the possibilities to improve the system, and energy and exergy efficiencies of the system are found to be 42.36% and 46.55%, respectively, for 2nd January 2004.  相似文献

Dimethyl ether (DME), which is an excellent green diesel fuel alternate, is synthesized following a direct synthesis route from synthesis gas, by using a bi-functional catalyst mixture, which was composed of a silicotungstic acid incorporated mesoporous catalyst [TRC-75(L)] and a commercial Cu–Zn based catalyst. Higher DME selectivity values were obtained by using TRC-75(L), than commercial γ-alumina at 50 bars. Presence of CO2 in the feed stream caused significant enhancement in DME selectivity. Results showed that DME selectivity of about 0.85 was obtained in a temperature range 250–275 °C in the presence of 10 % CO2. In fact, CO2 was also used as a resource to produce DME at lower temperatures. Reverse dry reforming and ethanol formation reactions were observed as side reactions, especially at higher temperatures. Results also proved that direct synthesis of DME from syngas has major CO conversion and DME selectivity advantages over the two step process involving consecutive methanol synthesis and dehydration steps.  相似文献

The cardiovascular consequences of epidural anesthesia secondary to sympathetic blockade are well documented; however, their repercussions on renal hemodynamics in humans have not been reported. We investigated the effect of epidural anesthesia on renal blood flow (RBF) in 13 healthy volunteers 18-45 yr of age. RBF was measured using paraaminohippurate clearance before and after bilateral T6 epidural sensory block (to ensure adequate sympathetic renal nerve blockade). Epidural anesthesia was established using 22 +/- 3 mL of 2% plain lidocaine (without epinephrine) via L1-L2 epidural catheter; urine output was measured using a three-way Foley catheter. Mean arterial pressure remained > or = 70 mm Hg in all subjects without any pharmacologic intervention. Mean RBF before epidural anesthesia was 16.1 +/- 6.8 mL.kg-1.min-1 and 14.3 +/- 2.9 mL.kg-1.min-1 after bilateral T6 epidural blockade. We conclude that the institution of epidural anesthesia in healthy subjects does not result in a significant change in RBF (P > 0.25).  相似文献

This paper presents a study of liquefaction-induced lateral ground displacements along the coast of Izmit Bay during the 1999 Kocaeli (Izmit)-Turkey earthquake. The paper discusses: (1) observed ground displacements after the earthquake, (2) the results of field investigations by means of borings and in situ index tests, including standard penetration tests, static cone penetration tests, and piezocone tests, (3) analyses of expected lateral displacements using two empirical models and one semiempirical model, and (4) comparisons between observed and calculated lateral ground movements. The three models provide inconsistent predictions of observed lateral ground displacements, with one method overpredicting and two methods both overpredicting and underpredicting observed lateral ground displacements by large amounts. Thus, it appears that there is a need for improved engineering tools for prediction of small to moderately significant lateral ground displacements (lateral displacements of approximately 0.1–2.5?m) at soil sites with similar ground characteristics to the case history sites presented herein.  相似文献

Probabilistic Models for Cyclic Straining of Saturated Clean Sands   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A maximum likelihood framework for the probabilistic assessment of postcyclic straining of saturated clean sands is described. Databases consisting of cyclic laboratory test results including maximum shear and postcyclic volumetric strains in conjunction with relative density, number of stress (strain) cycles, and “index” test results were used for the development of probabilistically based postcyclic strain correlations. For this purpose, in addition to the compilation of existing data from literature, a series of stress-controlled cyclic triaxial and simple shear tests were performed on laboratory-constituted saturated clean sand specimens. The variabilities in testing conditions (i.e., type of test, consolidation procedure, confining pressure, rate of loading, etc.) were corrected through a series of correction schemes, the effectiveness of which were later confirmed by the discriminant analyses results. Volumetric and shear strain boundary curves were developed in the cyclic stress ratio versus N1,60,CS or qc,1 domain. In addition to being based on significantly extended and higher quality databases, contrary to the existing judgmentally derived deterministic ones, proposed correlations have formal probabilistic bases, and so provide insight regarding uncertainty of strain predictions or probability of exceeding a target strain value. Probabilistic uses of the proposed correlations were illustrated by three sets of examples. A companion paper applied and calibrated the proposed volumetric strain correlation to semiempirically evaluate postearthquake settlement of level, free-field sites. For the calibration, case history soil profiles, composed of a broad range of sand types and depositional characteristics, shaken by a number of earthquakes, were used. Superior predictions of field settlements by this laboratory data-based cyclic strain assessment approach were concluded to be strongly mutually supportive.  相似文献

A graft copolymer of polyisobutylene with poly(methyl methacrylate) [PMMA] was prepared containing naphthalene [N] groups statistically distributed along the PMMA backbone. Fluorescence studies of dilute solutions of the polymer in ethyl acetate showed small amounts of N-excimer emission when the NMA/MMA ratio was 1:9, and undetectable excimer when the ratio was 2/98. Energy transfer experiments were carried out between polymer-bound naphthalene and anthracene [A] added to the solution. The rate constant for energy transfer, kET, for the process N* + A → N + A* was found to be 1.1 × 1010 M−1 s−1 at 22°, slightly smaller than that (1.2 × 1010 M−1 s−1) for energy transfer from naphthylmethyl pivalate to A. From the value of the rate constants, a value for the segmental diffusion coefficient of polymer bound naphthalene was calculated.  相似文献

A code-generator-based software is presented which automatically generates FORTRAN subroutines describing a tubular catalytic reactor from simply structured xml-input files specifying the reacting species and reaction network. These routines are then linked to the adaptive partial differential equation (PDE) solver BACOL, which has been extended to allow direct execution from within MATLAB. A unique feature of the presented subroutine-generator is the option for an automated simplification of heterogeneous reaction networks into global Langmuir–Hinshelwood-type reaction rates using a quasi-equilibrium approximation. Using a water–gas shift reaction mechanism published by Mhadewshwar et al., the high-computational performance of the presented software is demonstrated and the impact of the automated approximations upon the solution as well as the simulation’s computational performance are investigated.  相似文献
