In this article, a study of residual based a posteriori error estimation is presented for the partition of unity finite element method (PUFEM) for three-dimensional (3D) transient heat diffusion problems. The proposed error estimate is independent of the heuristically selected enrichment functions and provides a useful and reliable upper bound for the discretization errors of the PUFEM solutions. Numerical results show that the presented error estimate efficiently captures the effect of h-refinement and q-refinement on the performance of PUFEM solutions. It also efficiently reflects the effect of ill-conditioning of the stiffness matrix that is typically experienced in the partition of unity based finite element methods. For a problem with a known exact solution, the error estimate is shown to capture the same solution trends as obtained by the classical L2 norm error. For problems with no known analytical solutions, the proposed estimate is shown to be used as a reliable and efficient tool to predict the numerical errors in the PUFEM solutions of 3D transient heat diffusion problems.  相似文献

In the statistical process control, the most useful tool to monitor the manufacturing processes in the industries is the control chart. Quality practitioners always desire the charting structure that identifies sustainable changes in the monitoring processes. The sensitivity of the control chart is improved when additional correlated auxiliary information about the study variable is introduced. The regression estimate in the form of auxiliary and supporting variables presents an unbiased and efficient statistic of the mean of the process variable. In this study, auxiliary information-based moving average (AB-MA) control chart is designed for efficient monitoring of shifts in the process location parameter. The performance of the AB-MA control chart is evaluated and compared with existing charts using average run length and other run length characteristics. The comparison reveals that the AB-MA control chart outperforms the competitors in detecting the small and medium changes in the process location parameter. The application of the proposal is also provided to implement it in real situation.  相似文献

To maintain and improve the quality of the processes, control charts play an important role for reduction of variation. To detect large shifts in the process parameters, Shewhart control charts are commonly applied but for small shifts, exponentially weighted moving averages (EWMA), cumulative sum (CUSUM), double exponentially weighted moving average (DEWMA), double CUSUM, moving average (MA), double moving average (DMA), and progressive mean (PM) control charts, are used. This study proposes double progressive mean (DPM) and optimal DPM control charts to enhance the performance of the PM chart. As the proposed DPM control charts use information sequentially, hence their performance is compared with natural competitors EWMA, CUSUM, DEWMA, double CUSUM, MA, DMA, and PM control charts. Run length and its different properties are evaluated to compare the performance of the proposed charts and counterparts. Results reveal that proposed optimal DPM outperforms the other charts. An example related to voltage on fixed capacitance level is also provided to illustrate the proposed charts.  相似文献

Bus passenger flow calculation system is a critical part of the smart public transportation framework. Bus passenger flow information can help to make data statistics report of the passenger at a bus station which can be used by public transport operator to evaluate the quality of the transportation. Statistics report of crowded passengers in the bus station help managers to understand the bus transit operations, can provide the database for the intelligent transportation scheduling, help to provide more and better services for passengers, overall data statistics of passengers has important practical significance to improve public transport environment. This paper presents a passenger counting algorithm based on hybrid machine learning approach. In the first step, an advanced method is used to extract the Histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) feature of passenger’s heads. Classification of head features is done by using support vector machine (SVM) as a classifier for the liner model. Heads are detected successfully after performing all steps. In next step Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi (KLT) is used to reality head tracking, the multiple target tracking is achieved and the head motion trajectory of passenger target is captured stably. At last, the trajectory is analyzed and the automatic counting of bus passenger flow is realized. In the last step, the proposed algorithm is move to embedded system for practical implementation. In this paper, the algorithm intends to use ADSP-BF609 embedded platform for transplantation. The experimental results demonstrate that the statistical accuracy of the proposed algorithm is enhanced successfully; especially during the daytime with the good illustration, the effective counting of the passenger flow is achieved and the inward and outward passenger counting can be realized. In this paper three feature extraction models are used namely local binary patterns, histograms of oriented gradients and binarized statistical image in order to get accurate features. Furthermore, three common classification techniques including naïve bayes classifier, boosted tress and support vector machines are used for fine classification of extracted vectors obtained from different features extractors model. 94.50% accuracy is achieved when support vector machine (SVM) classifies the features extracted using Histogram of oriented gradients (HOG). SVM surpasses the accuracy obtained by Boosted tree namely 81.30% using Histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) features.

This paper presents the optimal motion generation of the kinematic redundant human body model for impulse-based applications. Inspired by effective and safe motion generation of the human body, we propose a motion generation algorithm considering the external and internal impulses. Firstly, the cost function is defined using the closed form model of external and internal impulses. Then, the self-motion is exploited by using the gradient projection method to generate the optimal motions. Furthermore, the proposed methodology is verified through simulations considering a 4-DOF planar human body model for landing on ground and ball kicking applications and a 3-DOF human arm model for sawing task. It is found that, considering the internal and external impulses for optimization, the optimized posture’s results are well identical to the human body behavior in daily impulse-based motions.  相似文献

A 1.91-mm thick circular polycarbonate plate of 115 mm diameter was impacted by a spherical steel projectile of 6.98 mm diameter at its center. Subsequent impacts were made at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mm radii of the plate. Dent dimensions for the damaged plate were measured using optical microscope. For a constant projectile velocity of 138 m s−1 which was below the perforation limit of the plate under investigation, a maximum thickness reduction close to the edge support was observed. The experimental work was modeled into explicit finite-element analysis program LSDYNA for simulations. LSDYNA was able to predict the dent depth and reduction in plate thickness at impact points precisely. In this research, the effect of the impact location distance from the supports on the damage mechanism of circular polycarbonate armor plates is investigated. The target plate was subjected to constant velocity projectile impacts starting at the plate midpoint and varying the impact distance from midpoint towards the clamped edge. Failure of plate is predicted close to the constrained boundary under uniform conditions.  相似文献

An empirical relationship modeled by a theoretical numerical model has been presented for estimating the refractive indices of semiconductors, especially the III–V semiconductors, relative to their energy gaps.

This model is based on the fact that there is a strong correlation between the energy gap and the refractive index of a given material. This physical relationship remains strictly intrinsic and specific to the material considered.

The performance of this model is compared with that of some other numerical models established by other authors. An analysis based on calculations of the errors between this model and the experimental data has also been carried out.

For the first time, the present model is applicable to the whole range of energy gaps, taking into account the fact that the refractive index for an infinite energy gap is equal to one.

Good agreement is observed between the computed values and the refractive indices reported in the literature for well-known semiconductors.  相似文献

In the current work, the effects of treating the oil palm fibres on the tribological performance of polyester composite were studied against polished stainless steel counterface using Block-on-Ring (BOR) technique under dry contact condition. Wear and friction characteristics of treated and untreated oil palm fibre reinforced polyester (T-OPRP and UT-OPRP) composites were evaluated at different sliding distances (0.85–5 km), sliding velocities (1.7–3.9 m/s) and applied loads (30–100 N). SEM observations were performed on the worn surfaces of the composites to examine the damage features. Specific wear rate (Ws), friction coefficient and interface temperature results were presented against the operating parameters. The results revealed that test parameters significantly influenced the wear performance of the composites. Both treated and untreated oil palm fibres enhanced the wear and frictional performance of polyester composites. T-OPRP showed less Ws by about 11% compared to UT-OPRP. This was due to the better interfacial adhesion offered by the treated fibres. The SEM observation made on UT-OPRP worn surface showed debonding and bending of fibres, and fragmentation and deformation on the resinous regions. Meanwhile, T-OPRP composite showed less damages compared to UT-OPRP, where no sign of fibres debonding was observed.  相似文献

To meet their carbohydrate requirements, adult parasitoids exploit a broad range of sugar resources, including floral and extrafloral nectar and honeydew. Although honeydew might be the predominant sugar source, especially in agricultural systems, it often is nutritionally inferior to sugar sources like nectar. Given its broad availability, it may be expected that sugar-feeding insects have evolved specialized adaptations to deal with this typically inferior sugar source. This would apply especially to organisms that have a close association with honeydew producers. Here, we hypothesized that parasitoids of honeydew-producing insects should show a pronounced response to sugars, such as fructose, sucrose, melezitose, and trehalose, and to a lesser extent glucose. To test this hypothesis, we investigated sugar consumption, feeding behavior and survival of the aphid parasitoid Aphidius ervi on several sugars (equiweight solutions). Our results show that A. ervi adults consumed typical honeydew sugars (sucrose, fructose, trehalose, and melezitose) the most, while consuming considerably less glucose or melibiose. Rhamnose, which does not occur in aphid honeydew, was not, or was only marginally, consumed. When different sugars were provided at the same time, A. ervi adults preferred sucrose or fructose over glucose or melezitose. Furthermore, pre-exposure to sucrose or fructose significantly reduced subsequent intake of glucose, suggesting an acquired distaste for glucose after being previously exposed to highly preferred sugars such as sucrose and fructose. Altogether, this study shows that A. ervi adults prefer sugars (fructose, melezitose, trehalose, and sucrose) that are overrepresented in aphid honeydew and show a lower preference to one (glucose) that is underrepresented in honeydew.  相似文献
