Osteointegration of titanium or its alloy with bone can be greatly improved by calcium phosphate coatings, and further enhanced by an extracellular matrix protein layer such as collagen. In this study, an octacalcium phosphate (OCP)/collagen composite coating layer on Ti6Al4V substrate was prepared using electrolytic deposition method. A layer of OCP mineral consisting of flake-like crystals was first formed on the Ti6Al4V substrate. Subsequently, mineralized collagen fibrils were deposited on the former OCP layer. These collagen fibrils were interconnected and well adhered on the OCP layer so that they were immobilized. The microstructure of the composite coating varied with collagen concentration in the electrolyte. This study could offer a possibility of fabricating a desired surface matrix on orthopedic implants to enhance bone formation and fixation of implants. 相似文献

The dielectric properties of vacuum-deposited dysprosium oxide films have been studied in the audio-frequency range (102–104 Hz) at various temperatures (78–373 K). The dielectric constant (6.7) was independent of film thickness for thicker films (d > 1000 Å). The capacitance was dependent both on temperature and frequency, but became constant for all frequencies at low temperature. Tan δ showed a frequency minimum and its variation with frequency and temperature was in agreement with the model proposed earlier by Goswami and Goswami. The breakdown field (≌106 V cm-1) followed the Forlani-Minnaja relation. The activation energy and the refractive index of these films were also measured. 相似文献

Ba(Zn1/3Ta2/3)O3 has been prepared with different dopants that gave best microwave dielectric properties at room temperature. Effects of different
dopants on the low temperature microwave dielectric properties of BZT were investigated. With decrease in temperature, loss
tangent was found to decrease marginally and then increase at temperatures lower than 100 K. Increase in loss factor at lower
temperatures were found to be less for dopants with smaller ionic radii. Dielectric constant was found to be almost independent
of temperature. Temperature coefficient of resonant frequency slowly decreased from a positive value to negative value when
temperature was lowered. Temperature at which τf becomes zero was found to vary for different dopants. There is a temperature stable region for tanδ, ɛr and τf which varies for different dopants. 相似文献

This study investigates quantitatively and qualitatively the sol-gel derived bioactive glass-ceramic system (BGS)—apatite-wollastonite
(AW) type granules in the size range of 0.5–1 mm, as an effective graft material for bone augmentation and restoration. Scanning
electron micrographs (SEM) of the sintered granules revealed the rough material surface with micropores in the range 10–30
μm. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the granules revealed the presence of crystalline phases of the hydroxyapatite and
wollastonite, and the functional groups of the silicate and phosphates were identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
(FT-IR). Thein vitro cell culture studies with L929 mouse fibroblast cell line showed very few cells adhered on the BGS disc after 24 h. This
could be due to the highly reactive surface of the disc concomitant with the crystallization but not due to the cytotoxicity
of the material, since the cellular viability (MTT assay) with the material was 80‰ Cytotoxicity and cytocompatibility studies
proved that the material was non-toxic and biocompatible. After 12 weeks of implantation of the BGS granules in the tibia
bone of New Zealand white rabbits, the granules were found to be well osteointegrated, as observed in the radiographs. Angiogram
with barium sulphate and Indian ink after 12 weeks showed the presence of microcapillaries in the vicinity of the implant
site implicating high vascularity. Gross observation of the implant site did not show any inflammation or necrosis. SEM of
the implanted site after 24 weeks revealed good osteointegration of the material with the newly formed bone and host bone.
New bone was also observed within the material, which was degrading. Histological evaluation of the bone healing with the
BGS granules in the tibial defect at all time intervals was without inflammation or fibrous tissue encapsulation. After 2
weeks the new bone was observed as a trabeculae network around the granules, and by 6 weeks the defect was completely closed
with immature woven bone. By 12 weeks mature woven bone was observed, and new immature woven bone was seen within the cracks
of the granules. After 24 weeks the defect was completely healed with lamellar bone and the size of the granules decreased.
Histomorphometrically the area percentage of new bone formed was 67.77% after 12 weeks and 63.37% after 24 weeks. Less bone
formation after 24 weeks was due to an increased implant surface area contributed by the material degradation and active bone
remodeling. The osteostimulative and osteoconductive potential of the BGS granules was established by tetracycline labelling
of the mineralizing areas by 2 and 6 weeks. This sol-gel derived BGS granules proved to be bioactive and resorbable which

CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) was synthesized and sintered by microwave processing at 2·45 GHz, 1·1 kW. The optimum calcination temperature using
microwave heating was determined to be 950°C for 20 min to obtain cubic CCTO powders. The microwave processed powders were
sintered to 94% density at 1000°C/60 min. The microstructural studies carried out on these ceramics revealed the grain size
to be in the range 1–7 μm. The dielectric constants for the microwave sintered (1000°C/60 min) ceramics were found to vary
from 11000–7700 in the 100 Hz–00 kHz frequency range. Interestingly the dielectric loss had lower values than those sintered

In certain regions of operating conditions, chemical reactors may exhibit parametric sensitivity; i.e., small changes in one
or more of the reactor input parameters lead to much larger changes in the output variables. Since such behaviour leads to
deleterious performance, it is of practical interest to identify regions of parametric sensitivity in the reactor parameter
space. Until recently, this could be done only to describe thermal runaway, and only for those systems where a temperature
profile could be defined. Both of these limitations can be removed by consideringthe generalized criterion for parametric sensitivity, whereby sensitivity ofany output of the model toany input can be treated. Applications of the generalized criterion are discussed, with specific examples including pseudohomogeneous
and heterogeneous model tubular reactors, a nonisothermal CSTR, and a polymerization reactor.

Organic-inorganic polymers formed by hydrolysis/condensation reactions of alkoxide precursors, such as organically modified silanes (Ormosils) are used for several industrial applications such as electronic, optical and protective anticorrosion coatings. Such materials possess superior chemical stability, physical strength and scratch resistance characteristics when compared to organic polymers. Further performance improvement can be achieved through the incorporation of zirconium and titanium based nanoparticles, also formed through from precursors via the sol-gel process. However due to the inherent reactivity differences of the above precursors, they must be hydrolysed separately before being combined for final condensation. Zirconium precursors are commonly chelated using acetic acid or acetyl acetonate prior to hydrolysis, to lower the hydrolysis rate.In this body of work, 3,4-diaminobenzoic acid (DABA) and acetyl acetonate (acac) were compared as chelating ligands for controlling the hydrolysis reactions of zirconium n-propoxide to form nanoparticles within a silane sol matrix. The sols were applied as coatings on aerospace grade aluminium alloy AA 2024-T3 and characterised by physical, spectroscopical, microscopical, electrochemical and calorimetric techniques. The electrochemical properties of the coatings, as characterised by EIS and PDS, correlated with neutral salt spray evaluations confirming that the use of DABA as a chelating ligand significantly improved the coating performance when compared to the traditional diketone ligand. The data indicates the anticorrosion properties of the nitrogen rich chelate have a key role in protecting the alloy through the formation of smaller zirconium nanoparticles, thus improving the polymer network stability. 相似文献
