In this paper, we present a general procedure to test conjunctive query containment. We divide the containment problem into four categories, taking into account the underlying semantics (set or bag theoretic) and the presence or absence of built-in predicates in the queries. After a brief review of previous work on conjunctive query containment, we present a new procedure, called QCC (Query Containment Checker), which we show to be a general and uniform procedure to check the containment among conjunctive queries under the four categories mentioned above. We briefly describe the use of QCC to check bag containment of conjunctive queries, and explain in detail how to use QCC to check set containment of conjunctive queries with built-in predicates. This article studies the time-optimal output transition problem to change the system output, from an initial value (for all time ) to a final value (for all time ), for invertible nonlinear systems. The main contribution of the article is to show that the use of pre- and post-actuation input outside the transition interval IT=[0,T] can reduce the transition time T beyond the standard bang–bang-type inputs for optimal state transition. The advantage of using pre- and post-actuation is demonstrated with an illustrative nonlinear example.  相似文献

In literature, the von Neumann stability analysis of simplified model equations, such as the wave equation, is typically used to determine stability conditions for the non-linear partial differential fluid flow equations (Navier–Stokes and Euler). However, practical experience suggests that such simplistic stability conditions are grossly inadequate for computations involving the system of coupled flow equations. The goal of this paper is to determine stability conditions for the full system of fluid flow equations – the Euler equations are examined, as any conditions derived for the Euler equations will apply to the Navier–Stokes (NS) equations in the limit of convection-dominated flows. A von Neumann stability analysis is conducted for the one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) Euler equations. The system of equations is discretized on a staggered grid using finite-difference discretization techniques; the use of a staggered grid allows equivalence to finite-volume discretization. By combining the different discretization techniques, ten solution schemes are formulated – eight solution schemes are considered for the 1D Euler equations, and two schemes for the 2D Euler equations. For each scheme, error amplification matrices are determined from the stability analysis, stable and unstable regimes are identified, and practical stability limits are predicted in terms of the maximum-allowable CFL (Courant–Friedrichs–Lewy) number as a function of Mach number. The predictions are verified for selected schemes using the Riemann problem at incompressible and compressible Mach numbers. Very good agreement is obtained between the analytically predicted and the “experimentally” observed CFL values. The successfully tested stability limits are presented in graphical form, which offer a viable alternative to complicated mathematical expressions often reported in published literature, and should benefit everyday CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) users. The stability regions are used to discuss the effect of time integration (explicit vs. implicit), density bias in continuity equation and momentum convection term linearization on stability. A comparison of the predicted stability limits for 1D and 2D Euler equations with commonly-used stability conditions arising from the wave equation shows that the stability thresholds for the Euler equations lie well below those predicted by the wave equation analysis; in addition, the 2D Euler stability limits are more restrictive as compared to 1D Euler limits. Since the present analysis accounts for the full system of fluid flow (Euler) equations, the derived stability conditions can be used by CFD practitioners to estimate a timestep or CFL number to guide the stability of their computations.  相似文献

In this paper, an intellectual energy efficient multicast routing protocol is proposed. It achieves enhanced performance over On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP). The proposed protocol finds energy efficient multicast routes from source node to a group of receivers. Multicast mesh creation involves two phases: a Join Query (J-Q) phase and a Join Reply (J-R) phase. The J-Q phase initiates a route discovery process to find routes of the multicast group. In J-R phase, different routes of the multicast groups are set up. In the proposed protocol, we modify ODMRP and introduce fuzzy inference system to deal with imprecise and partial information during the route discovery phase. The decision maker uses two fuzzy variables such as energy and distance for evaluating reward as an output parameter of each multicast route. This output parameter helps to distinguish different multicast route and it also helps to reduce the effect of mutual interference between routes. The proposed protocol is simulated using the NS-2 simulator. The performance of the proposed protocol is compared with existing multicast routing protocols, and results outperform existing protocols in terms of several network metrics.  相似文献

Failure diagnosability has been widely studied for discrete event system (DES) models because of modeling simplicity and computational efficiency due to abstraction. In the literature it is often held that for diagnosability, such models can be used not only for systems that fall naturally in the class of DES but also for the ones traditionally treated as continuous variable dynamic systems. A class of algorithms for failure diagnosability of DES models has been successfully developed for systems where fairness is not a part of the model. These algorithms are based on detecting cycles in the normal and the failure model that look identical. However, there exist systems with all transitions fair where the diagnosability condition that hinges upon this feature renders many failures non-diagnosable although they may actually be diagnosable by transitions out of a cycle. Hence, the diagnosability conditions based on cycle detection need to be modified to hold for many real-world systems where all transitions are fair. In this work, however, it is shown by means of an example that a system may have some transitions fair and some unfair. A new failure diagnosability mechanism is proposed for DES models with both fair and unfair transitions. Time complexity for deciding diagnosability of DES models with fair and unfair transitions is analyzed and compared with the time complexities of other DES diagnosability analysis methods reported in the literature.  相似文献

An amperometric biosensor for determination of biochemical oxygen demand in wastewater has been developed to overcome the time consuming monitoring procedures. The performance and stability of the immobilized membrane have been investigated at 37 °C and pH 6.8. Immobilized microbial membranes maintain their stability and activity after intermittent use for 400 cycles when stored at 4 °C in sodium phosphate buffer pH 6.8. The response time of the BOD sensor was only 90 min, being independent of the concentration, and the lower detection limit was 1 mg/l. The obtained BOD values showed correlation with that of the conventional method for BOD determination (BOD5) with a deviation of ±10%. Moreover, the sensor exhibits good repeatability (3.39–4.45%) and reproducibility (1.85–2.25%). Software was added to upgrade this sensor and to make it a promising candidate for online monitoring.  相似文献
