The rectilinear motion on a horizontal rough plane of a vibration-driven system consisting of a carrying body, which interacts with the plane directly, and of internal masses that perform harmonic oscillations relative to the carrying body is considered. The vertical and horizontal oscillations of the internal masses have the same frequency, but are shifted in phase. It is shown that by controlling the phase shift of the horizontal and vertical oscillations and their frequencies, it is possible to change the direction and magnitude of the average velocity of the steady motion of the carrying body. A similar system may provide a model of a vibration-driven robot that does not require special limbs (wheels, legs, or chain tracks)  相似文献

Combinatorial optimization problems are usually NP-hard. These problems are generally tackled by heuristic or branch-and-bound methods. The aim of this paper is to tackle constrained combinatorial optimization problems by importance Monte Carlo sampling. For this, we show that every constrained combinatorial optimization problem can be represented by a thermodynamical system in a suitable grand canonical ensemble given by the quantities of temperature, volume, and chemical potential. In order to find optimum solutions of the optimization problem, the grand canonical Monte Carlo method can be applied to the corresponding thermodynamical system. This method will amount to importance sampling, i.e. good feasible solutions of the optimization problem will be preferably sampled, provided that the intensive quantities of temperature and chemical potential are appropriately chosen. Our approach extends the standard importance sampling approach in the canonical ensemble to tackle unconstrained combinatorial optimization problems. The knapsack problem is considered as a prototype example.  相似文献

Such data is of critical interest to a growing number of municipal, state, and federal agencies as well as private enterprises. However, the lack of service infrastructures among heterogeneous data sources operating under different administrative controllers hampers the full use of geotechnical information. The combination of gas chromatography (GC) and laser-based resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (REMPI-TOFMS) represents a three-dimensional analytical method, using the gas chromatographic retention time, the wavelength of the ionization laser for REMPI, and the molecular mass as analytical parameters. In this work, a novel analytical scheme for detection of chlorinated aromatic compounds, including isomeric ensembles, by GC/REMPI-TOFMS is presented. The concept uses an in-line hydrodechlorination catalyst for post- or precolumn derivatization of chlorinated aromatic compounds. The chlorinated aromatics are quantitatively reduced, forming their respective aromatic skeletons. These aromatic skeletons are detected selectively by REMPI-TOFMS. The first results for substance class selective detection of chlorinated benzene isomers are given, and potential applications in the field of the analysis of compounds such as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and -furans are discussed.  相似文献

By complementation screening of a cadmium-sensitive Schizosaccharomyces pombe mutant deficient in phytochelatin synthesis, but with 44% of the wild-type glutathione content, we cloned a DNA fragment involved in phytochelatin synthesis. Sequence analysis revealed that it encodes the second enzyme involved in glutathione (GSH) biosynthesis, glutathione synthetase (GSH2) (E.C.6.3.2.3, Wang and Oliver, 1997). The mutant allele shows a single base-pair exchange at the 3' end of the reading frame leading to a single amino acid change from glycine to aspartate. This mutation leads to a significant reduction of phytochelatin synthesis, whereas glutathione synthesis is impaired to a far lesser extent. Complementation with the Arabidopsis thaliana GSH2 cDNA led to a partial restoration of phytochelatin synthesis. These data strongly suggest that the GSH2 gene encodes a bifunctional enzyme that is able to catalyse both the synthesis of GSH by adding glycine to the dipeptide (gammaGlu-Cys) and the synthesis of phytochelatins. PURPOSE: The development of objective criteria for selecting patients for seminal vesicle irradiation on radical radiotherapy for prostate cancer will be important for successful planning of 3D conformal radiotherapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Based on morphometric studies from radical prostatectomy specimens, new imaging modalities with potential in the investigation of patients with gross seminal vesicle involvement and clinical factors with potential in the identification of patients with subclinical disease the development of objective guidelines is possible. RESULTS: Clinical tumor stage as determined by digital rectal examination, diagnostic tumor biopsy (Gleason Score), and pretherapy serum prostate-specific antigen value were significant factors for the probability of involvement of seminal vesicles. Studies show that seminal vesicle involvement is unlikely if the PSA is < 4 ng/ml or 4 to 10 ng/ml and Gleason Score < 7 and stage < or = T2b. In contrast, involvement of seminal vesicles is highly likely with levels above 20 ng/ml. In patients with PSA levels between 10 and 20 ng/ml and Gleason Score < 7 ultrasonographic findings with regard to tumor volume and localization will be useful to determine the extent of the target volume. For treatment planning a significant reduction in the volumes of irradiation to the rectum and bladder is evident when seminal vesicles were excluded. CONCLUSION: Prospective use of the objective criteria will be useful in the selection of patients for seminal vesicle involvement and should be an integral part in 3D conformal radiotherapy of prostate cancer.  相似文献

The authors present a model of the gate current in heterojunction FETs that takes into account two-dimensional electron gas effects at the heterojunction interface. The gate current results from tunnel and thermionic contributions. This model takes into account a number of technological parameters such as heterojunction barrier height, threshold voltage, gate length, and temperature. It has been tested against experimental measurements of gate current in AlGaAs/GaAs MISFETs at various temperatures.
