Wavelet transform of polarized fluorescence spectra of human breast tissues is found to localize spectral features that can reliably differentiate normal and malignant tissue types. The intensity differences of parallel and perpendicularly polarized fluorescence spectra are subjected to investigation, since they are relatively free of diffusive background. A number of parameters, capturing spectral variations and subtle changes in the diseased tissues in the visible wavelength regime, are clearly identifiable in the wavelet domain. Highly transparent monolithic silica aerogels based on the TEOS precursor were prepared by the two-step (acid-base) sol–gel
process. The hydrolysis and condensation reactions of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) proceeded in methanol solvent with oxalic acid
and NH4OH as the catalysts, respectively. The wet gels were supercritically dried using methanol. The aerogels were characterized
by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and measurements of optical transmission, bulk density, volume shrinkage, porosity
and thermal conductivity. Monolithic silica aerogels with high optical transmission (∼93%), low density (∼0.055 g/cm3), low thermal conductivity (∼0.04 W/mK), and minimum volume shrinkage (∼10%), were obtained for the molar ratio of TEOS:MeOH:acidic

Manganese can be easily leached from chemically inert manganese ore by aqueous solutions of SO2. Total manganese dissolution occurs at 650 rpm, 0·2% solid, 426μm, pH=1 and 310 K in only 6–8 min. The rate data for managanese fits the equation: 1 − 2/3α − (1 −α)2/3=kt. Diffusion through the siliceous layer appears to be rate-controlling. 相似文献

The main aim of the present work is to predict the microstructural features like grain size and dislocation density in the weld zone during friction stir welding (FSW) of similar (Al6061T6/Al6061T6) and dissimilar (Al6061T6/Al5086O) Aluminium grades using Cellular Automata Finite Element (CAFE) approach. The FSW process is not modelled with the stirring action, instead heat flux, strain-rate and strain are incorporated by analytical models. The grain size is controlled through cellular automata (CA) cells and dislocation density is related to this by two different (analytical and empirical) models. After FSW, four different methods are proposed for predicting the tensile behaviour of weld zone and the efficiency of these methods is evaluated through validations. The results indicate that the thermal, strain-rate, and strain models are accurate enough in their predictions when compared with existing results. The grain size predictions from CAFE model, which include the transition rule, are also consistent with the literature results, both for similar and dissimilar material combinations. The analytical model shows better dislocation density prediction than empirical model when compared with the experimental data. Of all the methods proposed for tensile behaviour prediction, the CAFE model that includes dislocation density evolution using the second model is efficient and accurate. The stress–strain data predicted from an averaged flow stress of many CA cells is also encouraging. Through these results, it has been demonstrated that the CAFE approach along with few validated analytical models can be used to predict the micro-features and forming aspects during FSW consistently. 相似文献

Despite a growing body of research on OSS production, much remains to be learned. One important issue concerns the measures of OSS project success and its determinants. In this paper, we empirically study the determinants of OSS success as measured by the number of subscribers and developers working on an OSS project. Furthermore, we demonstrate that our model forecasts these success measures more accurately as compared to a naive model.We find that OSS projects that develop software to work on Windows/UNIX/Linux operating systems, and developed using C or its derivative languages experience larger increase in subscribers and attract more developers than projects that do not have these characteristics. OSS projects with semi-restrictive licenses have fewer subscribers and attract fewer developers. Interestingly, OSS projects that accept financial donations and are targeted at IS/IT professionals have more subscribers than others, although these characteristics do not affect the developer base. The number of subscribers and developers increases with the age of the OSS project. Finally, the impact of developers on subscribers and subscribers on developers is positive and significant. 相似文献

Constrained sampling and counting are two fundamental problems arising in domains ranging from artificial intelligence and security, to hardware and software testing. Recent approaches to approximate solutions for these problems rely on employing SAT solvers and universal hash functions that are typically encoded as XOR constraints of length n/2 for an input formula with n variables. As the runtime performance of SAT solvers heavily depends on the length of XOR constraints, recent research effort has been focused on reduction of length of XOR constraints. Consequently, a notion of Independent Support was proposed, and it was shown that constructing XORs over independent support (if known) can lead to a significant reduction in the length of XOR constraints without losing the theoretical guarantees of sampling and counting algorithms. In this paper, we present the first algorithmic procedure (and a corresponding tool, called MIS) to determine minimal independent support for a given CNF formula by employing a reduction to group minimal unsatisfiable subsets (GMUS). By utilizing minimal independent supports computed by MIS, we provide new tighter bounds on the length of XOR constraints for constrained counting and sampling. Furthermore, the universal hash functions constructed from independent supports computed by MIS provide two to three orders of magnitude performance improvement in state-of-the-art constrained sampling and counting tools, while still retaining theoretical guarantees. 相似文献

A number of past studies have shown the prevalence of a considerable amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in workplace, home and outdoor microenvironments. The quantification of an individual's personal exposure to VOCs in each of these microenvironments is an essential task to recognize the health risks. In this paper, such a study of source apportionment of the human exposure to VOCs in homes, offices, and outdoors has been presented. Air samples, analysed for 25 organic compounds and sampled during one week in homes, offices, outdoors and close to persons, at seven locations in the city of Leipzig, have been utilized to recognize the concentration pattern of VOCs using the chemical mass balance (CMB) receptor model. In result, the largest contribution of VOCs to the personal exposure is from homes in the range of 42 to 73%, followed by outdoors, 18 to 34%, and the offices, 2 to 38% with the corresponding concentration ranges of 35 to 80 microg m(- 3), 10 to 45 microg m(- 3) and 1 to 30 microg m(- 3) respectively. The species such as benzene, dodecane, decane, methyl-cyclopentane, triethyltoluene and trichloroethylene dominate outdoors; methyl-cyclohexane, triethyltoluene, nonane, octane, tetraethyltoluene, undecane are highest in the offices; while, from the terpenoid group like 3-carane, limonene, a-pinene, b-pinene and the aromatics toluene and styrene most influence the homes. The extraction equilibrium study of Pt(IV) was carried out with Cyanex 923 and Cyanex 471X in toluene from hydrobromic acid media to investigate their extraction capacity, since they have different donor atoms, ‘O’ and ‘S’. Their distribution equilibria were studied as a function of extractant concentration, diluents, hydrobromic acid concentration and the effect of temperature on extraction. Pt(IV) was quantitatively extracted with 0.1 mol dm?3 Cyanex 923 in toluene from 5.0–8.0 mol dm?3 HBr media and was stripped with 4.0 mol dm?3 perchloric acid. However it was also quantitatively extracted with 0.1 mol dm?3 Cyanex 471X (with 0.1 mol dm?3SnCl2) in toluene from 6.0–8.0 mol dm?3 HBr media and was stripped with 1.0 mol dm?3 stabilized sodium thiosulfate solution at pH 9.0. The slope analysis method indicated metal complex species of 1:1 for Pt(IV) with Cyanex 923 and Cyanex 471X in toluene from HBr media.
