Operation of a nonlinear optical loop mirror with orthogonally polarized waves in nonpolarization-preserving, single-mode fiber

We demonstrate stable operation of a NOLM using orthogonally polarized control and signal beams in nonpolarization-preserving, single-mode fiber. The NOLM can transcribe data from an optically incoherent input at one wavelength to a coherent output over a range of wavelengths. Operation of the NOLM without tuning for the input bit rate is possible over a range of bit rates from less than 1 Gb/s to more than 50 Gb/s.     

Volumetric three‐dimensional up‐conversion display medium

Abstract— Several rare‐earth‐doped fluoride crystals that are excited to emit visible light by sequential two‐photon absorption have been investigated as display‐medium candidates for static volumetric three‐dimensional displays. Dispersion of powders of these materials in a refractive‐index‐matched polymer is reported because such a medium may result in a scalable display. The scattering problem in such a medium is greatly reduced by index‐matching the polymer to the crystalline particles. An index‐matching condition that optimizes the performance is identified.     

Structural Antecedents to Knowledge and Participation: Extending the Knowledge Gap Concept to Participation

This paper investigates relationships between community characteristics and levels of knowledge and participation examined at both the individual and the community levels. This research extends the knowledge gap concept to a parallel phenomenon, the participation gap. Results from the Social Capital Benchmark Survey 2000 showed that community density, education, and cohesion were significant positive predictors of knowledge but less consistent predictors of participation at the individual level. At the community level, relationships were even stronger, though cohesion was associated with higher mean levels of participation and reduced participation gaps, whereas population density was associated with lower levels of participation and increased gaps.     

钻井工程固井胶结界面研究现状

固井质量问题在石油勘探开发中备受关注，对特殊工艺井钻井、油水井开采寿命和勘探开发效益有直接的影响。对固井胶结界面的研究是从根本上提高固井质量的一项基础性研究工作。为了推动固井胶结界面研究工作的开展，分析了国内外近年来有关固井界面研究的文献，阐述了开展固井胶结界面基础研究工作的意义，着重分析了这一研究领域目前所采用的研究方法，以及提高固井界面胶结强度的主要途径。在分析文献的基础上，提出今后深入开展固井界面研究工作的重点是：1）继续完善研究方法；2）重视动态研究；3）从胶结界面的微观结构和钻井工程整体系统的角度开展研究工作；4）注重改善胶结界面水化产物的微观结构和钻井工作液之间的协调增强作用。

用废聚苯乙烯塑料制备胶粘剂的综述

废聚苯乙烯泡沫塑料在自然界中不能自然降解而正成为严重的社会公害，其综合利用在当今社会越来越受到重视。本文着重分析了聚苯乙烯塑料在我国的消费状况并阐述了利用废旧泡沫塑料研制和开发各种不同用途胶粘剂的进展     

自由电子激光光导效应数值研究

本文对喇曼型自由电子激光光导效应进行了理论研究和数值模拟。我们编写了轴对称的二维计算机程序(FELOG),用来研究无波导和有波导情况下的光导效应。对光场分布、光场半径、填充因子及等效折射率等进行了模拟。根据实验参数进行的模拟结果与实验结果进行比较,它们符合很好。并对影响光导效应的因素进行了分析。     

Thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-3-acetic acids. A new class of nonpeptide endothelin receptor antagonists

On the basis of structural information for the cyclic hexapeptide endothelin (ET) receptor antagonist, TAK-044, a series of thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4-dione derivatives bearing a carboxyl group and aromatic rings that were important for receptor binding were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for ET receptor binding affinities and inhibitory activities against ET-induced vasoconstriction. Optimization of each substituent in the thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine ring led to the discovery of a novel and potent nonpeptide ET receptor antagonist, 6-(4-methoxymethoxyphenyl)-5-methylsulfonylaminomethyl-1-(2- methylthiobenzyl)-2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrothieno[2,3-d]p yrimidine-3- acetic acid (32 g), which binded to human ETA and ETB receptor subtypes with affinities (IC50) of 7.6 and 100 nM, respectively. Compound 32 g effectively antagonized ET-induced vasoconstriction and the inhibitory effect mediated by the ETB receptor was more potent than that of bosentan, while the inhibitory effect mediated by the ETA receptor was slightly less potent than that of bosentan.
