The melt polycondensation reaction of N‐protected trans‐4‐hydroxy‐L ‐proline (N‐Z‐Hpr) and ?‐caprolactone (?‐CL) over a wide range of molar fractions in the feed produced new and degradable poly(N‐Z‐Hpr‐co‐?‐CL)s with stannous octoate as a catalyst. The optimal reaction conditions for the synthesis of the copolymers were obtained with 1.5 wt % stannous octoate at 140°C for 24 h. The synthesized copolymers were characterized by IR spectrophotometry, 1H NMR, differential scanning calorimetry, and Ubbelohde viscometry. The values of the inherent viscosity (ηinh) and glass‐transition temperature (Tg) of the copolymers depended on the molar fractions of N‐Z‐Hpr. With an increase in the trans‐4‐hydroxy‐N‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐L ‐proline (N‐CBz‐Hpr) feed from 10 to 90 mol %, a decrease in ηinh from 2.47 to 1.05 dL/g, and an increase in Tg from ?48 to 49°C were observed. Polymer blends of poly(propylene) (PP) and polyacetal (polyoxymethylene, POM) with ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymers were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), rheological, tensile, and impact measurements, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The PP–POM–EVOH blends were extruded with a co‐rotating twin‐screw extruder. The ethylene group in the EVOH is partially miscible with PP, whereas the hydroxyl group in the EVOH can form hydrogen bonding with POM. The EVOH tends to reside along the interface, acting as a surfactant to reduce the interfacial tension and to increase the interfacial adhesion between the blends. Results from SEM and mechanical tests indicate that a small quantity of the EVOH copolymer or a smaller vinyl alcohol content in the EVOH copolymer results in a better compatibilized blend in terms of finer phase domains and better mechanical properties. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Feasible clinical application of any automated segmenting methodology demands more than just accuracy. Amendment to the automated delineation is necessary when the algorithm fails, however, integrated solution to such a scenario is largely absent in literature. Hence in this survey we devised an architecture that does both the automated and interactive lung field localizations using a single segmenting engine—random walker algorithm—so that intuitive amendment is only necessary when the automated generated delineation is unsatisfactory. The algorithm proceeds by first extracting 18 intensity profiles running horizontally, each of them equally spacing apart, and in each intensity profile three extreme points denoting the two lungs and the esophagus are determined through profile matching. This done, the algorithm removes profiles that do not intersect with the lung, and the rest of the extreme points are plugged into random walker algorithm to perform segmentation. The achieved accuracy in localization by the above was 0.8875 in terms of overlap measure (the maximum value for this parameter is 1) over 341 images. In the case where unsatisfactory delineation prompts amendment necessary, the user can interactively segment the lung by just a shift on some of the previous-determined points to the desired locations, and random walker algorithm is run again with the amended input. By such a fusion, the benefits of both the automated and interactive segmentation are shared in a single architecture.  相似文献

A new Coulomb friction compensator is proposed for servo control systems in this paper. The novelty of the new approach lies in its capability of assigning the eigenvalues of the resulting closed loop system while attacking the problem. First, based on the standard backstepping methodology, an implicit Lyapunov function, with part of the components being only symbolically constructed at the very beginning, is utilized. To increase the robustness of the system against disturbance and model inaccuracy, an integral term is employed in the design. Using part of the variable gradient method, we are able to turn the implicit Lyapunov function into an explicit one, which is positive definite, and whose time‐derivative is negative definite. Second, it will be shown that the resulting closed loop error system is a switched linear system with two possible active modes that share the same set of eigenvalues, which is at our disposal. Unlike the common adaptive control design methods, such as the Control Lyapunov Function approach, in which the gains are typically positive but otherwise arbitrary, and are hence difficult to choose and have a lack of connection with the system's performance, our new scheme imposes two further constraints on the gains. It turns out that we can then match these gains with the coefficients of the desired characteristic equation of the closed loop system. In this respect, the gains are linked to the system's overall performance, which is a new and very appealing feature for such a scheme. Finally, a procedure of constructing a common Lyapunov function is provided to prove exponential stability of the aforementioned switched linear system. In addition, using the invariance principle, we will show the convergence of the estimated Coulomb friction coefficient to its real value. Numerical simulations are given to validate the effectiveness of the design and its robustness against friction time‐variations. Compared to existing results, the proposed scheme is much simpler, hence, much more advantageous computationally. This study presents two extensions to the two‐stage expectation‐confirmation theory of information systems (IS) continuance. First, we expand the belief set from perceived usefulness in the original IS continuance model to include three additional predictors identified in the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, namely effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions. Second, we ground the IS continuance model in the context of transactional systems that involve transmission of personal and sensitive information and include trust as a key contextual belief in the model. To test the expanded IS continuance model, we conducted a longitudinal field study of 3159 Hong Kong citizens across two electronic government (e‐government) technologies that enable citizens' access to government services. In general, the results support the expanded model that provides a rich understanding of the changes in the pre‐usage beliefs and attitudes through the emergent constructs of disconfirmation and satisfaction, ultimately influencing IS continuance intention. Finally, we discuss the theoretical and practical implications of the expanded model.  相似文献

We propose a novel out‐of‐core simplification and level‐of‐detail (LOD) volume rendering algorithm for large irregular grids represented as tetrahedral meshes. One important feature of our algorithm is that it creates a space decomposition as required by I/O‐efficient simplification and volume rendering, and simplifies both the internal and boundary portions of the sub‐volumes progressively by edge collapses using the (extended) quadric error metric, while ensuring any selected LOD mesh to be crack‐free (i.e., any neighboring sub‐volumes in the LOD have consistent boundaries, and all the cells in the LOD do not have negative volumes), with all computations performed I/O‐ejficiently. This has been an elusive goal for out‐of‐core progressive meshes and LOD visualization, and our novel solution achieves this goal with a theoretical guarantee to be crack‐free for tetrahedral meshes. As for selecting a desirable LOD mesh for volume rendering, our technique supports selective refinement LODs (where different places can have different error bounds), in addition to the basic uniform LODs (where the error bound is the same in all places). The proposed scalar‐value range and view‐dependent selection queries for selective refinement are especially effective in producing images of the highest quality with a much faster rendering speed. The experiments demonstrate the efficacy of our new technique.  相似文献

In this article, a coplanar‐waveguide (CPW)‐fed dual‐band antenna for applications of the multisystem integration has been demonstrated. The resonance analysis of the stepped‐impedance (SI) monopole is presented by using the transmission‐line analysis method. The frequency‐response characteristics of the SI‐monopole, such as the resonance condition and harmonic response, are systematically summarized. Furthermore, utilizing several simple techniques, such as bent feeding topology, asymmetric ground plane, and an L‐shaped slot etched in the ground plane, a right‐hand circularly polarized (RHCP) radiating wave at 1.57 GHz and a left‐hand circularly polarized (LHCP) radiating wave at 2.33 GHz are excited for the applications of the global positioning system (GPS) and the satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) service system. After optimization of the geometrical parameters of the proposed antenna, the measured impedance bandwidths of a reflection coefficient less than ?10 dB range from 1.40 to 2.98 GHz and from 4.48 to 6.27 GHz, and thus covers most of the commercial wireless communication systems, such as GPS, digital cellular system (DCS), personal communication system (PCS), international mobile telecommunications (IMT)?2000, wireless local area networks (WLAN), and long‐term evolution (LTE) 2300/2600. The measured 3‐dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidths are about 80 MHz at 1.57 GHz and 100 MHz at 2.33 GHz.  相似文献

The analytic dispersion equations for the symmetric and antisymmetric saggital plane plate modes of a three-layer composite system are presented. The composite consists of a solid isotropic plate sandwiched between two acoustically thin (<0.02 lambda) isotopic solid layers, where lambda is the acoustic wavelength. The thin layers are considered either as the mass loading or the chemical selective coating layers for the plate wave sensors. Explicit formulas which identify the contributions of the elasticity and inertia effects for the phase velocity and mass loading sensitivity of the lowest symmetric (S(0)) and antisymmetric (A(0)) mode for the case where the thickness of the composite plate is much less than lambda are obtained. The amounts by which the elasticity of the thin layer and the inertia decrease the mass loading sensitivity is found for both sensors. It is also found that the sensitivity of the A(0) mode significantly depends on the operating frequency but that of the S(0) mode does not. Specific examples are given for the case of a fused silica plate sandwiched by two thin lucite layers.  相似文献

A material sensor based on differential spectroscopic absorption is proposed. The presence of a foreign material in a medium embodying the fiber sensor results in power attenuation at some particular wavelengths. This attenuation, which may be used for measuring the amount of the lossy material, is theoretically analyzed for the case of single-mode operation. A sensitivity analysis is carried out, and some design considerations are discussed.  相似文献
