Over the past 40 years, development of Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) has focused mainly on the improvement of material performance and optimization of cost-efficient production routes. Recently, more fields of application have opened up for CMCs, in which environmental impacts are relevant. These impacts have barely been investigated so far but receive growing interest due to increasing awareness of the environmental consequences. Our innovative approach frames material properties in relation to environmental impacts (e.g., global warming potential in CO2 emission) by varying process parameters to balance optimum performance against environmental considerations. First, the process of wet filament winding has been investigated up to the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) state by changing both the curing and tempering temperatures. During the production of CFRP plates, mass and energy flows were tracked in each step. Three point-bending and interlaminar shear tests have been performed on the resulting samples to identify basic mechanical properties. The environmental impacts are determined by a cradle-to-gate Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), using the software SimaPro. The resulting tradeoffs between mechanical properties and environmental impacts show nonlinear behavior, thus revealing optimum points above which improved mechanical properties are associated with significantly higher CO2 emissions. 相似文献

Tuberculosis represents one of the ten most common courses of death worldwide and the emergence of multidrug-resistant M. tuberculosis makes the discovery of novel anti-tuberculosis active structures an urgent priority. Here, we show that (+)-floyocidin B representing the first example of a novel dihydroisoquinoline class of fungus-derived natural products, displays promising antitubercular hit properties. (+)-Floyocidin B was identified by activity-guided extract screening and its structure was unambiguously determined by total synthesis. The absolute configuration was deduced from a key synthesis intermediate by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. A hit series was generated by the isolation of further natural congeners and the synthesis of analogs of (+)-floyocidin B. Extensive biological and physicochemical profiling of this series revealed first structure-activity relationships and set the basis for further optimization and development of this novel antitubercular scaffold. 相似文献

Base‐catalyzed transesterification of fats and oils with primary alcohols in discontinuous operation is an established batch process for the biodiesel production. However, the application of microreaction technology and continuous flow process lead to an increase of process intensification. The ethanol/soy bean oil ratio at low flow rates as well as the reactor geometry have the most evident effects on the fatty acid ethyl ester yield of KOH‐catalyzed ethanolysis of soy bean oil in microreactors. The methyllysine reader protein Spindlin1 has been implicated in the tumorigenesis of several types of cancer and may be an attractive novel therapeutic target. Small‐molecule inhibitors of Spindlin1 should be valuable as chemical probes as well as potential new therapeutics. We applied an iterative virtual screening campaign, encompassing structure‐ and ligand‐based approaches, to identify potential Spindlin1 inhibitors from databases of commercially available compounds. Our in silico studies coupled with in vitro testing were successful in identifying novel Spindlin1 inhibitors. Several 4‐aminoquinazoline and quinazolinethione derivatives were among the active hit compounds, which indicated that these scaffolds represent promising lead structures for the development of Spindlin1 inhibitors. Subsequent lead optimization studies were hence carried out, and numerous derivatives of both lead scaffolds were synthesized. This resulted in the discovery of novel inhibitors of Spindlin1 and helped explore the structure–activity relationships of these inhibitor series. 相似文献

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the performance of N-methyl-2-hydroxyethylammonium oleate ([m-2HEA][Ol]) as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in a 0.1-mol/L hydrochloric acid solution and also investigate the role of chloride in the inhibition mechanism. This protic ionic liquid (PIL) has formerly shown a high efficiency as a corrosion inhibitor in a neutral chloride medium. Electrochemical and weight loss measurements, surface contact angle determination, scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy were used to understand the factors that influence the response of the studied inhibitor. Results revealed that [m-2HEA][Ol] behaves as a mixed-type adsorption inhibitor, by blocking cathodic sites and by modifying the activation energy of the anodic reaction, and it can reach up to 94–97% of inhibition efficiency. PIL adsorption was enhanced by the excess of positive charge of the mild steel. The effect of inhibitor molecule has been discussed to propose a mechanism that explains the inhibitory action of the corrosion inhibitor, pointing out the role of chloride in the inhibition mechanism. 相似文献

Obesity is associated with lipid abnormalities leading to an increased morbidity and mortality from atherosclerotic disease. Lipid transfer proteins such as Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein (CETP) and Phospholipid Transfer Protein (PLTP), and lipases such as lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and hepatic lipase (HL) are involved in the pathogenesis of the obesity associated proatherogenic dyslipidemia. Nineteen severely obese female subjects undergoing laparosopic gastric banding participated in this prospective study. Subjects were examined with respect to body composition, lipid profile, CETP, PLTP, LPL and HL before and 1 year after surgical treatment. Mean weight loss was 22.2 kg, mainly due to losses in the fat depots. Triglycerides decreased and HDL2-C increased significantly. In respect to transfer proteins mean CETP mass decreased from 1.82 to 1.71 μg mL?1 (P = 0.043) and mean PLTP activity was reduced from 7.15 to 6.12 μmol mL?1 h?1 (P = 0.002), in parallel. In addition, both mean LPL activity and mean HL activity tended to decrease from 297 to 248 nmol mL?1 h?1 for LPL (P = 0.139) and from 371 to 319 nmol mL?1 h?1 for HL (P = 0.170), respectively. We conclude that weight loss induced by bariatric surgery is associated with the amelioration of the obesity-associated dyslipidemic state. Protein unfolding inside immobilized polymerosomes : One of the most interesting properties of polymeric vesicles is their remarkable stability against extreme temperatures and osmotic stress, and their longevity even under harsh environmental conditions. We have demonstrated, in an application on protein folding, that surface‐tethered polymerosomes are suitable for performing time‐resolved single molecule studies with encapsulated proteins, as illustrated here.

The reduction and oxidation behaviour of oxygen carrier particles of NiO and NiAl2O4 has been investigated in a fluidized bed reactor as well as a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). The particles showed high reactivity and gas yield to CO2 with methane in the temperature interval 750–950°C. In the fluidized bed the yield to CO2 was between 90 and 99% using bed masses corresponding to 16–57 kg/MWfuel. Complementary experiments in a TGA at 750 and 950°C showed a clear reaction of the NiAl2O4 with CH4 at the higher temperature. There was methane released from the reactor at high degrees of solid oxidation, which is likely associated with the lack of Ni‐sites on the particles which can reform the methane. There was some carbon formation during the reduction, although the amount was minor when the gas yield to carbon dioxide and degree of oxidation of the solid was high. A simple reactor model using kinetic data from a previous study predicted the gas yield during the reduction in the fluidized bed experiments with reasonable accuracy. The oxygen carrier system investigated in this work shows high promise for use in a real CLC system, provided that the particle manufacturing process can be scaled up with reasonable cost. 相似文献

A process model of dual fluidized bed gasification is presented based on mass- and energy balances. The model further covers the evaluation of thermodynamic equilibrium states. The gasification is investigated for the special case that CaO/CaCO3 is used as bed material allowing selective transport of CO2 from the gasification reactor to the combustion reactor by repeated carbonation and calcination. Experimental data are used to determine the model parameters. An empirical approach towards the kinetics of fuel conversion allows prediction of process behaviour at varied fuel water content. The selective transport of CO2 results in high H2 contents in the produced syngas. The lower operating temperatures in the gasification reactor increase the efficiency of energy conversion. The results are in agreement with experimental data and show the thermodynamic limitations of the technology. 相似文献
