In this work, we apply a novel statistical method, multiset canonical correlation analysis (M-CCA), to study a group of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) datasets acquired during simulated driving task. The M-CCA method jointly decomposes fMRI datasets from different subjects/sessions into brain activation maps and their associated time courses, such that the correlation in each group of estimated activation maps across datasets is maximized. Therefore, the functional activations across all datasets are extracted in the order of consistency across different dataset. On the other hand, M-CCA preserves the uniqueness of the functional maps estimated from each dataset by avoiding concatenation of different datasets in the analysis. Hence, the cross-dataset variation of the functional activations can be used to test the hypothesis of functional-behavioral association. In this work, we study 120 simulated driving fMRI datasets and identify parietal-occipital regions and frontal lobe as the most consistently engaged areas across all the subjects and sessions during simulated driving. The functional-behavioral association study indicates that all the estimated brain activations are significantly correlated with the steering operation during the driving task. M-CCA thus provides a new approach to investigate the complex relationship between the brain functions and multiple behavioral variables, especially in naturalistic tasks as demonstrated by the simulated driving study.  相似文献

The electronic tunability of ferroelectric liquid crystal filled photonic crystal fibres is demonstrated for the first time. The tunability is obtained in the wavelength range of 1500-1600-nm, with a free spectral range of-20-nm. The electronic tunability is achieved by applying an electric field onto the infiltrated photonic crystal fibre which facilitates the photonic bandgap tuning owing to the microsecond-order switching speeds of ferroelectric liquid crystals. The polarised transmission spectrum shows the behaviour of a tunable notch filter with a change in applied voltage. The results obtained could pave the way for the fabrication of fast tunable all-in-fibre devices in the telecom wavelength range.  相似文献

Models based on daily energy balance (or long‐term models) have been widely used as a tool in the stand‐alone photovoltaic (PV) system sizing, mainly with the purpose of obtaining analytical expressions of the relation between the generator size and the storage capacity of the battery. The system can then be designed to meet the reliability requirements of the specific case. However, such models represent the complex operation of a stand‐alone system in an oversimplified way. There is little research so far on the reliability and improvement of such models. Validation and possible modification of a long‐term system model requires comparison of the simulated state of charge (SOC) of the battery with that obtained from an experimental system. In this work, experimental data from a 6‐month operation of a basic stand‐alone PV system have been analysed and compared with modelling results. One obvious improvement that could be applied to the long‐term system model is to account for a charging efficiency of the battery, and this possibility is examined in the present work. However, comparison with the modelling results shows that the data cannot be fitted by simply taking into account battery inefficiency. A method to account for system memory effects in the increase of the battery SOC, imposed by the operation of the regulator, is necessary to accurately model the macroscopic diurnal charging/discharging process. Substantial improvements of the absolute photoluminescence quantum yield (QY) for surfactant‐free silicon nanocrystals (Si‐ncs) by atmospheric pressure microplasma 3‐dimensional surface engineering are reported. The effect of surface characteristics on carrier multiplication mechanisms is explored using transient induced absorption and photoluminescence QY. Surface engineering of Si‐ncs is demonstrated to lead to more than 120 times increase in the absolute QY (from 0.1% up to 12%) within an important spectral range of the solar emission (2.3–3 eV). The Si‐ncs QY is shown to be stable when Si‐ncs are stored in ethanol at ambient conditions for three months.  相似文献

The properties of ZnO thin films codoped with lithium and phosphorus have been characterized. The films were deposited from high-purity ZnO and Li3PO4 solid targets onto c-plane sapphire substrates by radiofrequency (RF) magnetron sputtering. A substrate temperature of 900°C was determined as optimum for depositing undoped ZnO films with background electron concentration of 9.9 × 1015 cm?3 as the buffer layer on the sapphire substrate. Postdeposition annealing was carried out using rapid thermal processing in O2 at temperatures ranging from 500°C to 1000°C for 3 min. Analyses performed using low-temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy measurements revealed luminescence peaks at 3.356 eV, 3.307 eV, 3.248 eV, and 3.203 eV at 12 K for the codoped samples. X-ray diffraction 2θ-scans showed a single peak at about 34.4° with full-width at half-maximum of about 0.09°. Hall-effect measurements revealed initial p-type conductivities, but these were unstable and toggled between p-type and n-type over time with Hall concentrations that varied between 2.05 × 1013 cm?3 and 2.89 × 1015 cm?3. The fluctuation in the carrier type could be due to lateral inhomogeneity in the hole concentration caused by stacking faults in the films. An additional cause could be the small Hall voltages in the measurements, which could be significantly impacted by even small spikes in signal noise inherent in the measurements.  相似文献

HTTP adaptive streaming (HAS) is becoming the de facto standard for video streaming services over the Internet. In HAS, each video is segmented and stored in different qualities. Rate adaptation heuristics, deployed at the client, allow the most appropriate quality level to be dynamically requested, based on the current network conditions. It has been shown that state‐of‐the‐art heuristics perform suboptimal when sudden bandwidth drops occur, therefore leading to freezes in the video playout, the main factor influencing users' quality of experience (QoE). This issue is aggravated in case of live events, where the client‐side buffer has to be kept as small as possible in order to reduce the playout delay between the user and the live signal. In this article, we propose a framework capable of increasing the QoE of HAS clients by reducing video freezes. The framework is based on OpenFlow, a widely adopted protocol to implement the software‐defined networking principle. An OpenFlow controller is in charge of introducing prioritized delivery of HAS segments, based on the network conditions and the HAS clients' status. Particularly, the HAS clients' status is obtained without any explicit clients‐to‐controller communication, and thus, no extra signaling is introduced into the network. Moreover, this OpenFlow controller is transparent to the quality decision process of the clients, as it assists the delivery of the segments, but it does not determine the actual quality to be requested. In order to provide a comprehensive analysis of the proposed approach, we investigate the performance of the proposed OpenFlow‐based framework in the presence of realistic Internet cross‐traffic. Particularly, we model two types of applications, namely, HTTP web browsing and progressive download video streaming, which currently represent the majority of Internet traffic together with HAS. By evaluating this novel approach through emulation in several multi‐client scenarios, we show how the proposed approach can reduce freeze time for the HAS clients due to network congestion up to 10 times compared with state‐of‐the‐art heuristics, without impacting the performance of the cross‐traffic applications. In digital beamforming (DBF), the phase shifter is functionally replaced with a receiver and digital phase rotation. A Taylor series expansion of mixer nonlinearities is used to generate receiver intermodulation spectrums respective of the element position and the iso-Doppler wavefront directions of signal arrival across the array. The dominant intermodulation distortion at each element experiences linear phase errors across the array proportional to the harmonic number and the desired steering direction phase gradient. The array distortion signals are reduced relative to the desired signal by the array factor sidelobe isolation when desired collimation directions exceed a few beamwidths of scan off the array normal vector. The result of the nonlinear down conversion analysis is extended to inphase and quadrature imbalances and batch manufacturing tolerances for element receivers.  相似文献

Polycarbonate is known to suffer from dramatic reductions in ductility upon exposure to hot, humid environments, such as during steam sterilization. Two phenomena have been proposed to be the main causes of this embrittlement: hydrolysis and microcavity formation. The present study focuses on a third phenomenon, whose contribution to the embrittlement has until now been considered insignificant: (physical) aging. By studying the influence of steam sterilization on the tensile deformation behavior of polycarbonate, it is shown that aging actually is one of the dominant factors in the embrittlement.  相似文献
