The growth technique and physical properties of SiGe multicrystals with microscopic compositional distribution are demonstrated for new high-efficiency solar cells in which the wavelength dependence of the absorption coefficient can be freely designed by controlling the compositional distribution in the SiGe multicrystals. This growth technique is suitable for the practical casting method, and it is made up of melt growth of SiGe multicrystals with wide and microscopic distribution of the composition from Si to Ge all over the crystals. It is studied how much widely the microscopic compositional distribution in SiGe multicrystals grown from binary Si–Ge melts can be controlled by the melt composition and the cooling process. The range of the microscopic compositional distribution becomes wider as the starting Si concentration in the growth melt becomes larger. SiGe multicrystals with various microscopic compositional distribution can be freely controlled by optimizing the melt composition and the cooling process. The wavelength dependence of the absorption coefficient of such SiGe multicrystals can also be freely designed. Using the experimentally determined absorption coefficient of a SiGe crystal with microscopic compositional distribution, the short circuit photo-current of solar cells was calculated and it is demonstrated that the short circuit photo-current can be much larger for SiGe with microscopic compositional distribution than for SiGe with uniform composition. Si thin film can be easily grown on such a SiGe multicrystal and the Si/SiGe heterostructure can be obtained. These results show that SiGe multicrystals with microscopic compositional distribution are hopeful for new high-efficiency solar cell applications by using the practical casting method. 相似文献

Lead-Bismuth eutectic (LBE) has many good characteristics as a coolant for fast reactors. One of the issues remaining to be solved, however, is the polonium issue. The purpose of the present study was to estimate the decontamination performance of a polonium filter by experiment in the penetration condition. Two types of stainless steel wire meshes, fine wire mesh and loose wire mesh, were tested in the experiments. The results show that polonium filters made of stainless steel wire mesh can be very useful device for the removal of polonium in the gas phase. Nanoparticles are synthesized efficiently from zinc electrode by microwave plasma in liquid. The nanoparticles synthesized from alcohol resulted in pure zinc particles in the shape of spheres or hexagonal cylinders with a production rate of 3.3 g/h, and energy consumption of 267 J/mg for 1 mg. Whereas the nanoparticles synthesized in pure water are composed of Zn and ZnO. The Zn reacts with water through heat or the passage of time to become ZnO, releasing hydrogen gas. An upper disk placed 1 mm away from the electrode along with the bubbles generated simultaneously with the plasma ignition plays a key role in the synthesis of nanoparticles. 相似文献

This paper presents a new set of boundary integral equations for three dimensional acoustic shape sensitivity analysis based on the direct differentiation method. A linear combination of the derived equations is used to avoid the fictitious eigenfrequency problem associated with the conventional boundary integral equation method when solving exterior acoustic problems. The strongly singular and hypersingular boundary integrals contained in the equations are evaluated as the Cauchy principal values and Hadamard finite parts for constant element discretization without using any regularization technique in this study. The present boundary integral equations are more efficient to use than the usual ones based on any other singularity subtraction technique and can be applied to the fast multipole boundary element method more readily and efficiently. The effectiveness and accuracy of the present equations are demonstrated through some numerical examples. 相似文献

Inorganic nanoparticles are of technological interest in many fields. We created silicate nanoparticle hydrogels that effectively incorporated biomolecules that are unstable and involved in complicated reactions. The size of the silicate nanoparticles strongly affected both the physical characteristics of the resulting hydrogel and the activity of biomolecules incorporated within the hydrogel. We used high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to analyze in detail the hydrogel network patterns formed by the silicate nanoparticles. We obtained clear nanostructured images of biomolecule-nanoparticle composite hydrogels. The TEM images also showed that larger silicate nanoparticles (22 nm) formed more loosely associated silicate networks than did smaller silicate nanoparticles (7 nm). The loosely associated networks formed from larger silicate nanoparticles might facilitate substrate diffusion through the network, thus promoting the observed increased activity of the entrapped biomolecules. This doubled the activity of the incorporated biosystems compared with that of biosystems prepared by our own previously reported method. We propose a reaction scheme to explain the formation of the silicate nanoparticle networks. The successful incorporation of biomolecules into the nanoparticle hydrogels, along with the high level of activity exhibited by the biomolecules required for complicated reaction within the gels, demonstrates the nanocomposites' potential for use in medical applications. 相似文献

Daily oral exposure of babies to phthalate was estimated on the basis of the mouthing time of infants and the oral concentration of diisononyl phthalate (DINP) released from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) toy specimens. Total mouthing time, including the use of pacifiers, ranged widely from 11.4 min to 351.8 min with the mean of 105.3 +/- 72.1 min. The mean of the total mouthing time without pacifiers was 73.9 +/- 32.9 min. The average amount of DINP in saliva was 92.4 +/- 56.8 micrograms/10 cm2/hr, ranging from 13.2 micrograms/10 cm2/hr to 240.4 micrograms/10 cm2/hr. The exposure of phthalate in two different trials was estimated by the method of Monte Carlo simulation, one with the total mouthing time with pacifiers and the other with the total mouthing time without pacifiers. The average exposure in the former trial was 21.4 micrograms/kg/day and the 95th percentile was 65.8 micrograms/kg/day, while in the latter it was 14.8 micrograms/kg/day and the 95th percentile was 35.7 micrograms/kg/day. 相似文献

The effects of surface roughness and post‐fried cooling time on oil absorption were investigated for a food model comprised of various wheat flour and water mixtures. The models were prepared by varying the initial moisture contents as 400, 600 and 800 g kg?1. The samples were then fried at 150 °C in palm olein oil for 5 min and then left to cool down for 0, 1, 3 or 6 min. Fractal analysis was used to evaluate the resulting surface roughness of samples fried for 5 min. The results revealed that the average fractal dimension increased as the sample's initial moisture was increased. The adhered oil on the surface decreased with cooling time; however, the absorbed oil increased. The surface roughness that is generated during frying causes the quantity of adhered oil to increase during the initial cooling stage. For the production of the useful antioxidant ferulic acid from clove oil containing abundant eugenol, the growth of eugenol-degrading microorganisms in the presence of clove oil was examined. Pseudomonas fluorescens E118, a clove-oil-tolerant strain, accumulated 6.1 g/l ferulic acid under optimized culture conditions with the intermittent addition of eugenol. When the bacterium was applied to ferulic acid production from clove oil, 5.8 g/l ferulic acid was produced with the intermittent addition of clove oil. Since clove oil is much cheaper than eugenol, ferulic acid production from clove oil by the bacterium is promising for the industrial production of ferulic acid. 相似文献

Strains of halophilic archaea, Haloarcula vallismortis and two Haloarcula strains OHF-1 and OHF-2, showed high tolerance to organic solvents at high media NaCl concentrations. For example, the lowest log Pow of the solvent which allowed growth (log Pow is the common logarithm of the partition coefficient of a given solvent in a mixture of n-octanol and water) for H. vallismortis was 5.1 at 20% NaCl and 4.4 at 30% NaCl. The solvent tolerance of Haloarcula argentinensis, on the other hand, was not affected by the NaCl concentration. Cells of strains OHF-1 and OHF-2 were of triangular or irregular morphology but became spherical in cultures in NaCl media overlaid with cyclohexane (log Pow=3.4), but returned to the triangular shape when the organic solvent evaporated from the medium. When cells of strains OHF-1, OHF-2, and H. argentinensis were grown in NaCl media in the presence of n-decane, they contained less phosphatidylglycerol and more phosphatidylglycerosulfate and phosphatidylglycerophosphate methyl ester than when grown without added n-decane. When the solvent was removed from the media after cultivation, the levels of these compounds returned to their initial ones. 相似文献
