In this work, both light‐shaping and image magnification features are integrated into a single lens element using a moldless procedure that takes advantage of the physical and optical properties of mesoporous silicon (PSi) photonic crystal nanostructures. Casting of a liquid poly(dimethylsiloxane) pre‐polymer solution onto a PSi film generates a droplet with a contact angle that is readily controlled by the silicon nanostructure, and adhesion of the cured polymer to the PSi photonic crystal allows preparation of lightweight (10 mg) freestanding lenses (4.7 mm focal length) with an embedded optical component (e.g., optical rugate filter, resonant cavity, and distributed Bragg reflector). The fabrication process shows excellent reliability (yield 95%) and low cost and the lens is expected to have implications in a wide range of applications. As a proof‐of‐concept, using a single monolithic lens/filter element it is demonstrated: fluorescence imaging of isolated human cancer cells with rejection of the blue excitation light, through a lens that is self‐adhered to a commercial smartphone; shaping of the emission spectrum of a white light emitting diode to tune the color from red through blue; and selection of a narrow wavelength band (bandwidth 5 nm) from a fluorescent molecular probe.  相似文献

Soft, capacitive tactile (pressure) sensors are important for applications including human–machine interfaces, soft robots, and electronic skins. Such capacitors consist of two electrodes separated by a soft dielectric. Pressing the capacitor brings the electrodes closer together and thereby increases capacitance. Thus, sensitivity to a given force is maximized by using dielectric materials that are soft and have a high dielectric constant, yet such properties are often in conflict with each other. Here, a liquid metal elastomer foam (LMEF) is introduced that is extremely soft (elastic modulus 7.8 kPa), highly compressible (70% strain), and has a high permittivity. Compressing the LMEF displaces the air in the foam structure, increasing the permittivity over a large range (5.6–11.7). This is called “positive piezopermittivity.” Interestingly, it is discovered that the permittivity of such materials decreases (“negative piezopermittivity”) when compressed to large strain due to the geometric deformation of the liquid metal droplets. This mechanism is theoretically confirmed via electromagnetic theory, and finite element simulation. Using these materials, a soft tactile sensor with high sensitivity, high initial capacitance, and large capacitance change is demonstrated. In addition, a tactile sensor powered wirelessly (from 3 m away) with high power conversion efficiency (84%) is demonstrated.  相似文献

This article presents the design of a miniaturized dual‐band antenna for long‐term evolution (LTE) application is presented. In the basic antenna design, split ring resonator was loaded in the radiating plane of the patch and frequency of resonance was further modified with the help of E‐shaped stub. The antenna has been fabricated using FR‐4 substrate and the measured dual bands at 2.11 and 2.665 GHz are found in a close match with the simulated data. By placing a thin dielectric resonator of permittivity ε r = 10.2 and thickness of 1.27 mm, two closely spaced narrow bands are obtained at 2.217 and 2.28 GHz. A novel metamaterial unit‐cell having near‐zero refractive index is designed and mounted above the dielectric resonator. This stack configuration generates triple narrow frequency band in the LTE 2 GHz spectrum range. The overall size of the proposed antenna is 20 × 25 mm2.  相似文献

The arteriovenous graft (AVG) is one of the major types of permanent vascular access used to provide hemodialysis. Complications encountered with AVG use include stenosis, infection, thrombosis, and pseudoaneurysm formation. Venous outflow stenosis along with frequent needle cannulation at the same site can lead to breakdown of the graft material, resulting in pseudoaneurysm formation. In the following case, we illustrate common management principles used to treat pseudoaneurysms. While stent‐grafts have been utilized for pseudoaneurysm repair, stent‐graft usage is not always optimal. Surgical management may be an ideal choice of treatment. The role of educating the dialysis staff and patients is essential to identify and minimize the risk of pseudoaneurysm formation.  相似文献

Polyimide-modified ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composites were fabricated by hot-press molding process. Mesoscopic morphologies of polyimide/UHMWPE blending systems show high compatibility between the phases of polyimide and UHMWPE when the weight ratio of polyimide is no more than 50?wt%. Investigation of the tribological properties with a reciprocating ball-on-flat contact tribometer shows that the polyimide filler has important effects on the friction and wear behavior of UHMWPE composites. Compared to pure UHMWPE, the composite with 50?wt% polyimide improved tribological properties best and exhibited 43.1% reduction in friction coefficient and 66.7% reduction in wear volume loss.  相似文献

Chitosan coated perlite beads were prepared by drop-wise addition of slurry, made of chitosan dissolved in oxalic acid and perlite, to an alkaline bath (0.7 M NaOH). The beads that contained 32% chitosan enhanced the accessibility of OH and amine groups present in chitosan for adsorption of copper ions. The experiments using Cu(II) ions were carried out in the concentration range of 50-4100 mg/L (0.78-64.1 mmol/L). Adsorption capacity for Cu(II) was pH dependent and a maximum uptake of 104 mg/g of beads (325 mg/g of chitosan) was obtained at pH 4.5 when its equilibrium concentration in the solution was 812.5 mg/L at 298 K. The XPS and TEM data suggested that copper was mainly adsorbed as Cu(II) and was attached to amine groups. The adsorption data could be fitted to one-site Langmuir adsorption model. Anions in the solution had minimal effect on Cu(II) adsorption by chitosan coated perlite beads. EDTA was used effectively for the regeneration of the bed. The diffusion coefficient of Cu(II) onto chitosan coated beads was calculated from the breakthrough curve and was found to be 2.02 x 10(-8) cm(2)/s.  相似文献

The need for reliable, long-term hemodialysis vascular access remains critical. To determine the long-term outcomes of transposed basilic vein arteriovenous fistulae (BVT) and their comparability with other vascular accesses, we determined retrospectively the primary and secondary patency rates in 58 BVT and in a total of 58 arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) and arteriovenous grafts (AVG) at a single center. Fifty-eight BVT were placed in 57 individuals, 69% after prior vascular access failure. Ten BVT failed before initial use and 2 patients expired with functioning accesses before dialysis initiation. In all 58 BVT, 46.8+/-10.8% functioned at 3 years, with median survival 30.8 months. Limiting analyses to the 46 BVT that were ultimately accessed, 3-year primary and secondary patency rates were 38.3+/-7.7% and 56.5+/-12.6%, respectively. Lower ejection fraction (p=0.054) and greater numbers of prior permanent dialysis catheters (p=0.005) were present in those with failed BVT. Compared with AVF, BVT had similar 3-year primary and secondary patency rates. The secondary patency rate was significantly better for BVT vs. AVG over the observation period; at 3 years, the rates were 56.5+/-12.6% vs. 9.1+/-6.0% (p=0.002), respectively. Basilic vein arteriovenous fistulae are valuable hemodialysis accesses. Although nearly 20% of newly placed BVT will not function before first use, those that are functional have median survivals exceeding 6 years, and 38% will not require intervention within 3 years of initial use.  相似文献

Integrating fuel cells with conventional gas turbine based power plant yields higher efficiency, especially solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) with gas turbine (GT). SOFCs are energy efficient devices, performance of which are not limited to Carnot efficiency and considered as most promising candidate for thermal integration with Brayton cycle. In this paper, a novel and optimal thermal integration of SOFC with intercooled-recuperated gas turbine has been presented. A thermodynamic model of a proposed hybrid cycle has been detailed along with a novelty of adoption of blade cooled gas turbine model. On the basis of 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics, parametric analysis has been carried out, in which impact of turbine inlet temperature and compression ratio has been observed on various output parameters such as hybrid efficiency, hybrid plant specific work, mass of blade coolant requirement and entropy generation rate. For optimizing the system performance, entropy minimization has been carried out, for which a constraint based algorithm has been developed. The result shows that entropy generation of a proposed hybrid cycle first increases and then decreases, as the turbine inlet temperature of the cycle increases. Furthermore, a unique performance map has also been plotted for proposed hybrid cycle, which can be utilized by power plant designer. An optimal efficiency of 74.13% can be achieved at TIT of 1800 K and rp,c 20.  相似文献
