Abstract

Mass transport properties of osmotic solutions are important in controlling osmotic dehydration process. In the first paper of the series “Mass Transfer Properties of Osmotic Solutions”;, data of water activities, osmotic pressure, osmosities or osmolalities and solute activities are presented. In the present paper, the literature data on diffusivities of both binary and multi‐component osmotic solutions are presented. Some aspects of measurement methodology and mass transfer modeling are also discussed.  相似文献

La1−xSrxMO3 (M = Mn, Fe) perovskites are investigated as potential redox materials for the thermochemical production of hydrogen. Thermogravimetric oxidation/reduction experiments indicated that the materials are able to lose and uptake oxygen reversibly from their lattice up to 5.5 wt.% for La1−xSrxMnO3 with x = 1 and up to 1.7 wt.% for La1−xSrxFeO3 with x = 0. Pulse reaction experiments indicated that the materials can be used as redox catalysts in a redox process where water is dissociated giving rise to the production of pure hydrogen during the oxidation step. The oxidation and reduction steps can be combined in a membrane reactor constructed from dense perovskite membranes towards a continuous and isothermal operation. The system is also able to operate on partial pressure-based desorption without the need of a carbon-containing reductant, so that a process towards hydrogen production, based only on renewable hydrogen source such as water, can be established. At steady state and 900 °C, 25 ± 7 cm3 (STP) H2 m−2 min−1 is produced in purified state.  相似文献

The main objective of this study is the investigation of the effect of the optical path of incident beam solar radiation on the performance of a linear Fresnel concentrating solar collector. The requirements regarding the kinematics of the reflectors are examined, allowing the effective focus of the reflected radiation on the receiver cover. A methodology for the calculation of the reflection angles of the sun rays incident on the mirrors, as well as of the incidence angles of the reflected rays on the cover, as a function of the sun position and the geometry of the collector is proposed. Specific scenarios, describing the effect of the solar radiation optical path on the collected heat, are formulated, each of them leading to a different form for the instantaneous efficiency equation. The evaluation and analysis of these scenarios, on the basis of actual operation conditions, has shown that the effect of the reflection and incidence angles throughout the modeling of the collector and the calculation of the useful thermal power cannot be neglected.  相似文献

The scope of this article is to present a methodology for the estimation of the uncertainty characterizing the energy performance of solar domestic hot water systems. The work concentrates on the uncertainty characterizing the expected annual energy output, as calculated through tests implemented according to the valid international standards. In order to cope with difficulties related to the algorithmic character of the measurement model, which cannot be explicitly formulated, Monte-Carlo simulation techniques are implemented. The component of uncertainty associated with measurement errors is estimated, on the basis of the metrological quality anticipated by the relevant testing standards. Errors due to imperfections of the energy model used through the test are also counted in, as well as uncertainties attributed to the variability of meteorological conditions. The proposed uncertainty analysis allows the realistic assessment of the actual energy provided to the user by a solar domestic hot water system. Implementation of the proposed methodology for a typical system leads to an expanded uncertainty in the order of 9% for the expected annual energy output.  相似文献

Hydrogen gained increasing attention during the last years as an alternative, environmental friendly fuel. Cyclohexane is a proposed hydrogen carrier that possesses many advantages. The use of a membrane reactor (MR) for cyclohexane dehydrogenation seems to be an ideal application, since hydrogen extraction from the reaction mixture would lead to conversion enhancement and simultaneous hydrogen production. In this study high quality microporous silica membranes was prepared and characterized. The membranes showed high potential for application in a membrane reactor for cyclohexane dehydrogenation. The performance of the proposed membrane reactor was evaluated using a simple mathematical model that developed for this purpose. The modelling results confirmed the supremacy of a membrane over a conventional plug flow reactor (PFR).  相似文献

Response surface methodology was used to analyze the effect of screw speed (200–280 rpm), feed moisture (13.0–17.0%, wet basis), and curry powder (6.0–9.0%) on the bulk density, lateral expansion, and firmness of maize‐based extruded snack with curry powder. Regression equations describing the effect of each variable on the responses were obtained. Responses were most affected by changes in feed moisture followed by screw speed and curry powder (p < 0.05). Lateral expansion increased linearly as the amount of curry powder added was increased whereas a quadratic increase was obtained in lateral expansion with decreasing feed moisture. The firmness of samples was increased with an increase in feed moisture. The bulk density of samples was increased with increasing feed moisture and screw speeds. Radial expansion was found to be a better index to measure the physical properties of the extruded product indicated by a higher correlation coefficient.  相似文献

A nine-aperture, wide-field Fizeau imaging telescope has been built at the Lockheed-Martin Advanced Technology Center. The telescope consists of nine, 125 mm diameter collector telescopes coherently phased and combined to form a diffraction-limited image with a resolution that is consistent with the 610 mm diameter of the telescope. The phased field of view of the array is 1 murad. The measured rms wavefront error is 0.08 waves rms at 635 nm. The telescope is actively controlled to correct for tilt and phasing errors. The control sensing technique is the method known as phase diversity, which extracts wavefront information from a pair of focused and defocused images. The optical design of the telescope and typical performance results are described.  相似文献

Bender et al. (SPAA 2013) proposed a theoretical framework for testing in contexts where safety mistakes must be avoided. Testing in such a context is made by machines that need to be calibrated on a regular basis. Since calibrations have a non-negligible cost, it is important to study policies minimizing the total calibration cost while performing all the necessary tests. We focus on the single-machine setting, and we study the complexity status of different variants of the problem. First, we extend the model by considering that the jobs have arbitrary processing times, and we propose an optimal polynomial-time algorithm when the preemption of jobs is allowed. Then, we study the case where there are many types of calibrations with their corresponding lengths and costs. We prove that the problem becomes NP-hard for arbitrary processing times even when the preemption of the jobs is allowed. Finally, we focus on the case of unit processing time jobs, and we show that a more general problem, where the recalibration of the machine is not instantaneous, can be solved in polynomial time via dynamic programming.

With the proliferation of the Web and ICT technologies there have been concerns about the handling and use of sensitive information by data mining systems. Recent research has focused on distributed environments where the participants in the system may also be mutually mistrustful. In this paper we discuss the design and security requirements for large-scale privacy-preserving data mining (PPDM) systems in a fully distributed setting, where each client possesses its own records of private data. To this end we argue in favor of using some well-known cryptographic primitives, borrowed from the literature on Internet elections. More specifically, our framework is based on the classical homomorphic election model, and particularly on an extension for supporting multi-candidate elections. We also review a recent scheme [Z. Yang, S. Zhong, R.N. Wright, Privacy-preserving classification of customer data without loss of accuracy, in: SDM’ 2005 SIAM International Conference on Data Mining, 2005] which was the first scheme that used the homomorphic encryption primitive for PPDM in the fully distributed setting. Finally, we show how our approach can be used as a building block to obtain Random Forests classification with enhanced prediction performance.  相似文献
