In order to increase the efficiency of waste utilization in thermal conversion processes, pre-treatment is advantageous. With the Herhof Stabilat® process, residual domestic waste is upgraded to waste-derived fuel by means of biological drying and mechanical separation of inerts and metals. The dried and homogenized waste-derived Stabilat® fuel has a relatively high calorific value and contains high volatile matter which makes it suitable for gasification. As a result of extensive mechanical treatment, the Stabilat® produced is of a fluffy appearance with a low density. A two-stage gasifier, based on a parallel-arranged bubbling fluidized bed and a fixed bed reactor, has been developed to convert Stabilat® into hydrogen-rich product gas. This paper focuses on the design and construction of the configured laboratory-scale gasifier and experience with its operation. The processing of low-density fluffy waste-derived fuel using small-scale equipment demands special technical solutions for the core components as well as for the peripheral equipment. These are discussed here. The operating results of Stabilat® gasification are also presented.  相似文献

Packed beds of fuel wood chips are commonly found in thermal conversion processes such as combustion or gasification. Wood chips in particular are mostly used as fuel for small-scale domestic heating boilers but also for commercial-scale combustion units. The characterization of spatial voidage distribution inside the wood chip beds is of great importance for flow and reactor modelling. This study focuses on the radial porosity variations of cylindrical beds of three different types of commercially available wood chips including chips classified as G30 size class. The conventional technique of consolidating packed beds with a resin was chosen as the experimental procedure. The radial voidage distribution in different cylindrical beds is determined by image analysis of sections of the solidified packings. Additionally, a packing of monosized spheres was investigated in order to assess the selected procedure in comparison with widely available literature data for spheres. The results are discussed and summarized in a mathematical expression correlating the radial voidage distribution depending on average wood chip size, packing core porosity and dimensionless distance from the tube wall.  相似文献

The double or even triple dividend hypothesis of green tax reforms has beena major issue of dispute in both the scientific community and the politicalarena during the last decade. Theoretical analysis has provided a number ofimportant qualitative insights to the debate but lacks of actual policyrelevance due to very restrictive assumptions. Applied research that takes thestep from stylized analytical to complex numerical models usually comes as ablackbox to non-expert modelers. This paper aims at bridging the gap betweenstylized theoretical work and numerical analysis. We develop a flexible,interactive simulation model which is accessible underhttp://brw.zew.de. Users can specify their own green tax reforms andevaluate the induced economic and environmental effects. Based on illustrativesimulations, we demonstrate the usefulness of our do-it-yourself approach fora better understanding of the double (triple) dividend hypothesis.  相似文献

Existing multi-layer devices using lead-based piezoelectric ceramics utilize an internal electrode that does not bond the ceramic layers. Improvements in device performance and processing could be gained if the electrode also acted as a bond between the ceramic layers. In the current work, the feasibility of brazing lead zirconate titanate (PZT) in ambient conditions utilizing silver-based alloys containing low melting temperature metal oxides was investigated. Wettability, joint fracture strength, and microstructural analyses were conducted for various PZT/silver–metal oxide systems. The metal oxide additions included copper (II) oxide, vanadium pentoxide, lead (II) oxide, and eutectic lead oxide-titanium (IV) oxide. The silver–copper oxide (Ag–CuO) system demonstrated the most potential; exhibiting an apparent contact angle of approximately 64° and an average braze joint fracture strength that was approximately 62% of the monolithic PZT strength. In addition, no significant reaction product formation was observed at the silver/PZT interface. However, a preliminary investigation of multi-layer devices electroded with Ag–CuO alloys indicated a decrease in the resistivity of the brazed PZT by several orders of magnitude.  相似文献

Perchloric acid (70%) was used to create simulated periapical lesions in tooth sockets of 15 dentate cadaver jaw specimens. Using the Trophy USA direct digital radiographic system, linear images were captured at selected time intervals after initial acid application and altered by contrast reversal, pseudocolor enhancement, and two forms of histogram equalization. The 525 total images were randomized for display on a computer monitor for evaluation by five endodontists. Images were evaluated twice by each rater, with viewings 1 to 2 wk apart. Statistical analysis determined interrater variability, intrarater reproducibility, and the relative merits of each enhancement technique. At 8, 12, 16, and 24 h after acid application, both techniques of histogram equalization yielded a statistically significant improvement over reverse contrast in perception of periapical patholais. Linear and pseudocolor-enhanced images were also significantly more diagnostic than reverse contrast at 12, 16, and 24 h. Intrarater reproducibility showed moderate agreement, but analysis showed only a fair level of interrater agreement.  相似文献
