The present research deals with the study of buckling pressure-to-weight ratio of cylindrical shells with laminated ring stiffeners. The research introduces a strain energy formulation for laminated rings, in which each ring stiffener may be treated individually and the geometrical dimensions and material properties of the stiffeners may be different from one another. In a parametric study, the impacts of various geometrical parameters of rings on the buckling pressure-to-weight ratio of shells for composite and metallic stiffeners are compared. The results show that the buckling-to-weight behavior of the shells with Steel stiffeners generally differs from the shells with stiffeners made of Aluminum, E-glass/epoxy, Graphite/epoxy, or Kevlar49/epoxy.  相似文献

Directional response and roll stability characteristics of a partly filled tractor semi-trailer vehicle, with cylindrical tank, under different parameters and conditions are investigated. The effective parameters and conditions in the stability of a tractor semi-trailer carrying liquid can be considered as filled volume, kinematic viscosity of liquid cargo and vehicle steering input. The dynamic interaction of liquid cargo with the tractor semi-trailer vehicle is evaluated by integrating a dynamic slosh model of the partly filled tank with five-degrees-offreedom of a tractor semi-trailer tank model. The dynamic fluid slosh within the tank is modeled using three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations, coupled with the volume-of-fluid equations and analyzed using FLUENT software. The coupled tank-vehicle model is subsequently analyzed to determine the roll stability characteristics for different conditions and maneuvers. The results show effects of parameter variations on roll stability of the vehicle carrying liquid and also fluid’s behavior in interaction with a vehicle’s dynamics.  相似文献

Nowadays, gene delivery for therapeutic objects is considered one of the most promising strategies to cure both the genetic and acquired diseases of human. The design of efficient gene delivery vectors possessing the high transfection efficiencies and low cytotoxicity is considered the major challenge for delivering a target gene to specific tissues or cells. On this base, the investigations on non-viral gene vectors with the ability to overcome physiological barriers are increasing. Among the non-viral vectors, nanoparticles showed remarkable properties regarding gene delivery such as the ability to target the specific tissue or cells, protect target gene against nuclease degradation, improve DNA stability, and increase the transformation efficiency or safety. This review attempts to represent a current nanoparticle based on its lipid, polymer, hybrid, and inorganic properties. Among them, hybrids, as efficient vectors, are utilized in gene delivery in terms of materials (synthetic or natural), design, and in vitro/in vivo transformation efficiency.  相似文献

Discharging the effluents of textile wastewaters into potable water resources can endanger the ecosystem, due to their reactivity, toxicity, and chemical stability. In this research, the application of powder activated carbon modified with magnetite nanoparticles (PAC-MNPs) as an adsorbent for removal of reactive dyes (Reactive black 5 (RB5) and reactive red 120 (RR120)) was studied in a batch system. The adsorption performance was evaluated as a function of temperature, contact time and different adsorbent and adsorbate concentrations. The levels of factors were statistically optimized using Box-Behnken Design (BBD) from the response surface methodology (RSM) to maximize the efficiency of the system. The adsorption process of both dyes was fit with the pseudo-second order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm models. The identified optimum conditions of adsorption were 38.7 °C, 46.3 min, 0.8 g/L and 102 mg/L for temperature, contact time, adsorbent dose, and initial dyes concentration, respectively. According to the Langmuir isotherm, the maximum sorption capacities of 175.4 and 172.4 mg/g were obtained for RB5 and RR120, respectively. Thermodynamics studies indicated that the adsorption process of the reactive dyes was spontaneous, feasible, and endothermic. After five cycles, the adsorption efficiency was around 84 and 83% for RB5 and RR120, respectively. A high value of desorption was achieved, suggesting that the PAC-MNPs have a good potential in regeneration and reusability, and also can be effectively utilized in industrial applications. PAC-MNPs also show a good anti-interference potential for removal of reactive dyes in dye-industry wastewaters.  相似文献

Triaxial residual tensile stresses resulting after cooling a 3D woven composite from the curing temperature cause cracking in the resin pockets for weave architectures that have high through‐the‐thickness constraint. We show how curing cycle modifications can reduce the hydrostatic tensile stress generated by thermal mismatch during cooling of Hexcel RTM6 epoxy resin constrained in a quartz tube which simulates extreme constraint in a composite. The modified curing schedule consists of a high temperature cure to just before the glass transition, a lower temperature hold that takes the resin through the glass transition thereby freezing in the zero stress state, followed by high temperature cure to bring the resin to full conversion. We show that this process is sensitive to heating rates and can reduce the zero stress state of non‐toughened RTM6 resin to a temperature similar to a commercial rubber‐toughened resin, Cycom PR520. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Monodisperse poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate), p‐HEMA, microspheres in size ranging from 16 to 340 (μm) were synthesized by in situ emulsion photopolymerization of HEMA monomer with polyethylene glycol diacrylate (p‐EGDA) by means of a three‐dimensional microfluidic flow‐focusing device. An aqueous solution of HEMA, p‐EGDA as chain extender and UV‐photoinitiator serving as dispersed phase formed microdroplets in a continuous oil phase mainly consisting of n‐heptane. A downward coaxial orifices design in the device led to confinement of the reaction admixtures thread to central axis of the microchannels. This design strategy could solve the wetting problem of dispersed phase with the microchannels leading to a successful production of monodisperse microspheres with size variation of less than 4%. The effects of concentration of p‐EGDA, surfactant, and flow rate ratios on microsphere size were examined. It was observed that increasing the concentration of p‐EGDA slightly increases the size whereas increasing the flow rate ratios of continuous to dispersed phase effectively decreases the size of microspheres. The rapid continuous synthesis of p‐HEMA based microspheres via the microfluidic route with reliable control over size, size distribution, and composition opens new doors for mass production of biocompatible and degradable polymeric microspheres for enormous biotechnological applications. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Nowadays, many consumers prefer foods with a high content of nutraceuticals that contribute to the prevention or healing of chronic diseases. Therefore, in recent years, more and more researchers have studied the bioefficiency, safety, and toxicity of nutraceutical‐enriched foods. The key stage of nutraceutical bioefficiency is oral bioavailability, which involves the following processes: the release of nutraceuticals from food matrices or nanocarriers in gastrointestinal fluids, the solubilization of nutraceuticals and their interaction with other components of gastrointestinal fluids, the absorption of nutraceuticals by the epithelial layer, and the chemical and biochemical transformations into epithelial cells. These processes are endogenous factors that greatly influence the bioavailability of nutraceuticals. In addition to endogenous factors, the bioavailability of nutraceuticals is also affected by exogenous factors, such as: physicochemical properties of nutraceuticals, food matrix, food processing and storage, and so forth. Both the endogenous and exogenous factors are comprehensively analyzed in this review. Thus, the physicochemical and enzymatic processes involved in food digestion are described, highlighting the role of each stage of gastrointestinal tract (mouth, stomach, and intestine) in nutraceuticals bioaccessibility. The structure and functions of the mucus and epithelial layers, the mechanisms involved in the active and passive transport of nutraceuticals through the cell membrane, and phase I and phase II metabolism reactions are also discussed. Finally, this review focuses on several types of bioactive‐loaded nanocarriers such as lipid‐based, surfactant‐based, and biopolymeric nanocarriers that improve the bioavailability of nutraceuticals.  相似文献
