In manufacturing facilities, shipping and receiving traditionally have been concentrated in one or two areas of the building. The widespread introduction of just-in-time shipping policies in US manufacturing companies during the past 15 years, as well as the common use of decentralized receiving in the Japanese automobile industry, has motivated the consideration (and occasionally the adoption) of dock configurations to support decentralized receiving (also known as perimeter receiving). By providing multiple access points along the perimeter of the building, decentralized receiving generally reduces the time and cost associated with moving purchased parts to the locations within the facility where they are used, but also results in increased cost of construction, maintenance, and operation for docks and associated truck access/egress, as well as additional interior floorspace requirements. We develop an optimization-based procedure to determine which of several possible dock areas to construct, how many doors or gates each should have, how many unloading and internal material handling staff should be assigned to each group, and which inbound materials each group should handle. We consider the amortized cost of constructing and equipping the docks, the amortized cost of material handling equipment to support the unloaders and material handlers, the cost of operating the material handling equipment, and labor costs for both unloading and internal material handling. 相似文献

Hypersensitivity reactions from trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole are likely caused by a reactive nitroso intermediate formed from sulfamethoxazole hydroxylamine. This pilot study tested whether cimetidine inhibits the urinary excretion of sulfamethoxazole hydroxylamine. Ten outpatients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and currently receiving trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole prophylaxis were randomly selected from 59 eligible patients. Five received cimetidine 800 mg twice daily for 1 week and five served as controls. Two spot urine samples one week apart were obtained after a trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole dose for all patients. Patients taking cimetidine had a significant decrease in excretion of sulfamethoxazole hydroxylamine relative to total excreted drug in the two urine samples compared with control patients. Cimetidine likely caused this decrease in sulfamethoxazole hydroxylamine excretion through inhibition of CYP3A4. Because of potential differences between HIV-infected patients and healthy subjects in oxidative metabolism, future studies of inhibitors of sulfamethoxazole hydroxylamine formation should be conducted in the HIV population. 相似文献

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different surface shapes formed by femtosecond (FS) laser on zirconia (Y-TZP)-resin cement shear bond strength (SBS). Background data: All ceramic restoration is used as an alternative to metal-ceramic restorations, due to its better aesthetics, strength, and toughness properties. However, bond strength of restoration to tooth and other materials is effective to long term success of the restoration, and to achieve it surface treatment is required on ceramic surface. Materials and methods: Forty square-shaped zirconia samples were prepared and assigned to four groups of 10. The details of the groups are as follows: Group A, square-shaped recessed surface; Group B, square-shaped projection surface; Group C, circular-shaped recessed surface; Group D, circular-shaped projection surface. The SBSs values were performed with a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. The data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey HSD multiple comparisons tests. Results: The one-way ANOVA results on SBSs of the zirconia material bonded with resin cement revealed significant differences among the groups (p < 0.05). The Tukey HSD test results revealed that Group B and D had significantly higher SBS values than other groups (p < 0.05), but there were no significant differences between each other (p > 0.05). Additionally, Group A and C had significantly lower values than other groups (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Different surface shapes formed by FS laser provided a significant increase in SBSs. The SBS values of projection surfaces of circular and square-shapes are greater than that of recessed surfaces of circular and square-shapes. 相似文献

This study administered the unethical computer using behavior scale (UECUBS) developed by [Namlu, A.G., & Odabasi, F. (2007). Unethical computer using behavior scale: A study of reliability and validity on Turkish university students. Computers and Education, 48, 205–215.] to investigate whether gender, program of study and PC experience have an impact on ethical judgments of undergraduate students regarding information and communication technologies (ICTs). The sample consisted of 559 undergraduates from the Education Faculty of the most populated state university in Turkey. The results of 5 (program of study) × 2 (gender) × 2 (PC experience) between-groups analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicated no significant differences among different programs of study and between high and low experienced PC users. The analysis showed significant differences between males and females. A significant interaction between the program of study and gender was found, which indicated that the difference between males and females did not follow a similar pattern across different programs of study. More specifically, females’ ethical judgments were consistent across different fields while males’ judgments varied according to the field of study. 相似文献

The aims of the present study were to determine biochemical properties of honey samples and to discriminate pure and adulterated honey produced by the standard bee feeding method (control honey), the shaking method (pure blossom honey), and overfeeding (100 kg/colony syrup) with sucrose syrup (adulterated honey). The biochemical properties evaluated were moisture, ash, acidity, hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), specific sugars (i.e. fructose, glucose, fructose–glucose, sucrose, and maltose), diastase activity, δ13C value (honey), δ13C value (protein), electrical conductivity, potassium, vitamin C, and proline. Fifteen honey samples were analyzed by discriminant analysis stepwise method. Proline, electrical conductivity and sucrose were found as discriminative characters of samples. Based on these three properties 100% of original group cases (samples) correctly classified in their real group. We found that the honey produced by feeding with 100 kg sucrose syrup per colony contained the sucrose as low as pure blossom honey. Therefore, the sugar (sucrose, fructose and glucose) content of honey cannot be used to distinguish between adulterated (sucrose syrup) and pure blossom honey. 相似文献

In this paper we qualitatively and numerically compare basic modeling approaches to the distance-based facility layout problem and the types of result obtained from them. In the process we observe that when the facility layout problem is modeled as a QAP, one will not necessarily obtain an optimal solution to the layout problem even if the QAP is solved to optimality. We also propose an alternative distance measure, namely, EDIST, which is based on the expected distance between two departments. We illustrate how the EDIST measure addresses some of the well-known shortcomings associated with the centroid-to-centroid distance measure. 相似文献

This work presents the theoretical and experimental studies conducted in Aerospace Engineering Department of Middle East Technical
University on smart structures with particular attention given to the structural modelling characteristics and active suppression
of in-vacuo vibrations. The smart structures considered in these analyses are finite and flat aluminium cantilever beam-like
(called as smart beam) and plate-like (called as smart fin) structures with surface bonded lead–zirconate–titanate patches.
Finite element models of smart beam and smart fin are obtained. Then the experimental studies regarding open loop behaviour
of the structures are performed by using strain gauges and laser displacement sensor to determine the system models. Further
studies are carried out to obtain H
∞ and μ-synthesis controllers which are intended to be used in the suppression of free and forced vibrations of the smart structures.
It is observed that satisfactory attenuation levels are achieved and robust performance of the systems in the presence of
uncertainties is ensured. In that respect a comparative study involving H

In this study, phenol, aromatic, and non‐biodegradable organic matter were investigated and found to be removed from the model solution through chemical oxidation using Fenton reagent. The effects of the initial phenol concentration, hydrogen peroxide, and ferrous sulfate concentrations on the removal efficiency were investigated. Performance of the chemical oxidation process was monitored with phenol and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) analyses. In the experimental studies, phenol removal of over 98 % and COD removal of nearly 70 % were achieved. The optimum conditions for Fenton reaction both for initial phenol concentrations of 200 and 500 mg/L were found at a ratio [Fe2+]/[H2O2] (mol/mol) equal to 0.11. According to the results, chemical oxidation using Fenton reagent was found to be too effective, especially for phenol removal. However, this method has limited removal efficiency for COD. 相似文献
