The characteristics of EL devices containing α-helical poly(l-glutamate) and having a carbazole side chain (PCELG) were found to strongly depend on the casting solvents. Among EL devices fabricated using chlorine-containing casting solvents such as 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE), 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane (TCE), chloroform (CHCl3), and monochlorobenzene (?-Cl), the EL device fabricated using the DCE solvent exhibited the maximum luminance (65.8 cd/m2). The difference between the threshold voltages of the devices ranged up to 6.0 V, despite their fabrication by using solutions with the same composition ratio. The maximal efficiency of the devices fabricated using the DCE solvent was found to be 20 times greater than that of the devices fabricated using TCE solvents. A comparison of the current densities and voltages among devices fabricated using different casting solvents at their maximal efficiencies showed that the maximal efficiencies tended to significantly increase in the order TCE < CHCl3 < DCE solvents at similar voltages (~15 V), despite a lowering of the current density. The current density was considered to be directly related to the number of carriers injected into the device. The above-mentioned observations suggested that the maximal efficiency in these devices was not the hole and electron injection efficiencies, but the values of some parameters subsequent to carrier injection, such as the recombination rate, amount of excitons generated, and the diffusion length. 相似文献

We report molecular changes in leaves of rice plants (Oryza sativa L. - reference crop plant and grass model) exposed to ultra low-dose ionizing radiation, first using contaminated soil from the exclusion zone around Chernobyl reactor site. Results revealed induction of stress-related marker genes (Northern blot) and secondary metabolites (LC-MS/MS) in irradiated leaf segments over appropriate control. Second, employing the same in vitro model system, we replicated results of the first experiment using in-house fabricated sources of ultra low-dose gamma (γ) rays and selected marker genes by RT-PCR. High-rate deposition of hydrogenated amorphous silicon films using inductively coupled silane plasma

Inductively coupled plasma (ICP) generated at 13.56 MHz has been employed for high-rate deposition of device-quality hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H). It has been shown that an increase in the flow rate of a monosilane gas enhances the generation rate of deposition precursors, while the ion flux decreases and becomes saturated. The defect density reaches the minimum at a deposition rate of 2.3 nm/s. It has also been demonstrated that even at deposition rates around 4 nm/s, a-Si:H deposited at 150°C exhibits a subgap defect density lower than 6×1016 cm−3 after 12 h AM1 (100 mW/cm2) light soaking. 相似文献

Separation of matrix metals in composites was tried on alumina short fiber-reinforced aluminum and 6061 alloy composites and
SiC whisker-reinforced 6061 alloy composite for recycling. It is possible to separate molten matrix metals from fibers in
the composites using fluxes that are used for melt treatment to remove inclusions. About 50 vol pct of the matrix metals was
separated from the alumina short fiber-reinforced composites. The separation ratio of the matrix from the SiC whisker-reinforced
6061 alloy composite was low and about 20 vol pct. The separation mechanism was discussed thermodynamically using interface
free energies. Since the flux/fiber interface energy is smaller than the aluminum/fiber interface energy, the replacement
of aluminum with fluxes in composites takes place easily. Gases released by the decomposition of fluxes act an important role
in pushing out the molten matrix metal from the composite. The role was confirmed by the great amount cavity formed in the

The paper summarises Japanese activities concerning photovoltaic systems including those for residential use, which is one of the major targets for a domestic alternative energy supply. Fiscal year 1999 marked the 25th anniversary of the Sunshine Project that was initiated in July 1974. The Sunshine Project was subsequently reorganised into the New Sunshine Program to include renewable energy, energy conservation and environmental technology. The major target of the Photovoltaic Technology Development Project in the Programme, from an early stage of R&D, has been focused on utility-connected, residential applications mounted on roofs. Recently, it can be considered that technologies for the target have been fundamentally established and a series of new activities have been introduced to promote the commercialisation and diffusion of PV systems. To review those activities, several condensed tables are presented, i.e., R&D history of residential applications, recent trends in regulation and code improvements, and new institutional activities to disseminate PV systems. The authors also present performance results collected from a large number of PV systems by using a very effective evaluation method called the ‘SV method’. The paper finishes by introducing a good example of simple system monitoring with good verification that can establish a knowledge circle from a variety of PV fields, including to factories, engineers, owners and investors, and it seems to be quite cost-effective. 相似文献

The AIN–W Interfaces in a cofired multilayer AIN substrate were observed using an optical microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Optical and SEM observations showed an intricate intricatelocking AIN-W grain structure at the interface. After the W pad was removed from the substrate with a NaOH etchant, the surface morphology of the W metal at the interface side was found to be very rough, with a small-grain microstructure compared with that at the free surface side. Electron microprobe analyses using SEM revealed that there was no diffusion of either W or Al at the interface at the order of a few micrometer's resolution. Bright-field images, dark-field images and selected area electron diffraction (SAD) patterns using TEM indicated there was no secondary phase between AIN and W. However, scanning transmission electron microscopy using an energy dispersive X-ray detector revealed that there was a 200-nm thick W diffusion layer from the interface into the AIN ceramics. It was concluded that the high adhesion strength between the W conductor and the AIN substrate (>20 MPa) was not due to any secondary phase but to mechanical interlocking of AIN and W during cofiring. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To measure prostatic thickness and the depth of ejaculatory ducts from the urethral surface to prevent ejaculatory duct damage during transurethral balloon laser thermotherapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 47 prostates obtained at autopsy, the prostatic thickness and the depth of ejaculatory ducts from the urethral surface were measured in eight directions from the centre of the urethra. RESULTS: The depth of ejaculatory ducts was approximately 6 mm from the urethral surface regardless of prostatic weight. Increase in prostatic weight was associated with increase in the thickness in all directions except the posterior one; the thickness ranged from 9 to 20 mm. The posterior thickness at the level of the transition zone was 10 mm regardless of prostatic weight. CONCLUSION: When benign prostatic hypertrophy is treated transurethrally, using laser or microwave equipment, care should be taken to avoid heating the posterior region of the prostate. 相似文献

Nonenzymatic reactions between glucose and proteins yield advanced glycation end products (AGE) such as pentosidine. AGE accumulate in diabetic patients, alter the structure and function of tissue proteins, stimulate cellular response, and have thus been implicated in diabetic tissue damage. The present study was undertaken to assess the factors determining plasma total pentosidine level in diabetic patients and the possible relation between plasma pentosidine level and diabetic complications. In diabetic patients, including patients with renal failure, plasma pentosidine levels, assessed by HPLC assay, were correlated with serum creatinine (P < 0.0001). In patients with normal renal function, pentosidine levels were correlated with blood glucose control (hemoglobin Alc: P = 0.0028; fructoselysine: P = 0.0133), serum creatinine (P = 0.029), patient age (P = 0.0416), duration of diabetes (P = 0.0431), and total cholesterol (P = 0.0056) and LDL-cholesterol (P = 0.0208). Multiple regression analysis revealed an independent influence of hemoglobin Alc and serum creatinine on pentosidine levels (r2 = 0.216, P = 0.0026). Pentosidine levels were higher in patients with than in those without hypertension (P = 0.043) or ischemic heart diseases (P = 0.0061). No such differences were observed between patients with and without albuminuria or retinopathy. Multiple regression analysis revealed an independent influence of plasma pentosidine on the presence of hypertension (r2 = 0.129, P = 0.0382) and of plasma pentosidine and HDL-cholesterol on the presence of ischemic heart disease (r2 = 0.326, P = 0.0012). The present study demonstrated that plasma pentosidine level was significantly influenced by the quality of glycemic control and renal function. Pentosidine level was also correlated with hypertension and ischemic heart disease, and might be taken as a biomarker of diabetic cardiovascular risk. 相似文献
