Fire retardants may considerably improve the fire properties of wood products, but the durability, e.g. in exterior applications, has not been addressed fully. This paper reviews the existing knowledge and experience mainly from the USA with the aim of supporting further development in Europe. Phenylalanine ammonia‐lyase (PAL), found in many organisms, catalyzes the deamination of l ‐phenylalanine (Phe) to (E)‐cinnamate by the aid of its MIO prosthetic group. By using PAL immobilized on magnetic nanoparticles and fixed in a microfluidic reactor with an in‐line UV detector, we demonstrated that PAL can catalyze ammonia elimination from the acyclic propargylglycine (PG) to yield (E)‐pent‐2‐ene‐4‐ynoate. This highlights new opportunities to extend MIO enzymes towards acyclic substrates. As PG is acyclic, its deamination cannot involve a Friedel–Crafts‐type attack at an aromatic ring. The reversibility of the PAL reaction, demonstrated by the ammonia addition to (E)‐pent‐2‐ene‐4‐ynoate yielding enantiopure l ‐PG, contradicts the proposed highly exothermic single‐step mechanism. Computations with the QM/MM models of the N‐MIO intermediates from l ‐PG and l ‐Phe in PAL show similar arrangements within the active site, thus supporting a mechanism via the N‐MIO intermediate. 相似文献

Two series of pH‐sensitive semi‐interpenetrating network hydrogels (semi‐IPN) based on chitosan (CS) natural polymer and acrylamide (AAm) and/or N‐hydroxymethyl acrylamide (HMA) monomers by varying the monomer and CS ratios were synthesized by free radical chain polymerization. 5‐Fluorouracil (5‐FU), a model anticancer drug, has been added to the feed composition before the polymerization. The characterization of gels indicated that the drug is molecularly dispersed in the polymer matrix. The swelling kinetics of drug‐loaded gels have decreased with increased HMA content at 37°C in both distilled water and buffer solutions with a pH of 2.1 or 7.4. Elastic modulus of the gels increased with the increase in HMA content and higher CS concentration enhanced the elastic modulus positively. Moreover, cumulative release percentages of the gels for 5‐FU were ca. 10% higher in pH 2.1 than those in pH 7.4 media. In this study, polypyrrole (PPy)/carbon nanotube (CNT) composites were synthesized by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of a pyrrole monomer on CNT. Two different types of CNT having different structural properties were used. The composites were characterized using BET surface area analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques. Thermal decomposition kinetics of PPy/CNT composites was studied by thermal gravimetric analysis techniques (TG/DTG (differential thermal gravimetric)) at different heating rates (2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10?K min?1). Kinetic parameters of the composites were obtained from the TG and DTG curves using the Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose (KAS) and Flynn–Wall–Ozawa (FWO) models. The electrochemical capacitive properties of the composites were investigated by the cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique. Excellent core‐shell morphology and nanoscale high‐voltage LiNiPO4@C cathode materials have been synthesized by a low‐level and long‐time microwave and solvothermal synthesis methodology. The effects of the changing physicochemical parameters on the crystal‐quality and electrochemical properties of the products have been evaluated in relation to the cycling stability. X‐ray diffraction analysis shows that it is possible to synthesize phase‐pure LiNiPO4 material when the reaction parameters are carefully elaborated. High‐resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis reveals a core‐shell morphology with a coating thickness of 6‐8 nm for 30 minutes at 180°C solvothermal temperature and time‐spread microwave energy. This mentioned cathode material exhibits the best electrochemical properties, achieving a discharge capacity of 157 mAh·g?1 at a 0.l C current rate, and shows a remarkable 81% capacity retention at the end of the 80th cycle. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Effect of initial moisture content on the thin layer drying characteristics of hazelnuts during roasting was described for a temperature range of 100-160°C, using several thin layer equations. The effective diffusivity varied from 2.8×10?7 to 21.5×10?7m2/s over the temperature and moisture range. Temperature dependence of the diffusivity coefficient was described by Arrhenius-type relationship. The activation energy for moisture diffusion was found to be 2703 kJ/kg, 2289 kJ/kg and 2030 kJ/kg for the initial moisture content of 12.3% db, 6.14% db, and 2.41% db, respectively. Two-term equation gave better predictions than Henderson and Pabis and Thompson equations, and satisfactorily described thin layer drying characteristics of hazelnut roasting. A generalised mathematical model with the linear temperature dependence for moistured, non-treated and pre-dried hazelnuts were also developed. 相似文献

ABSTRACT The concept of steam drying originates from the mid of the last century. However, a broad industrial acceptance of the technique has so far not taken place. The paper deals with modelling the steam drying process and applications of steam drying with in certain industrial sectors where the technique has been deemed to hove special opponunities. In the modelling scction the mass and heat transfer proceases are described along with equilibrium, capillarity and sorption phenomena occurring in porous materials during the steam drying process. In addition existing models in the literslure are presented. The applications discussed involve drying of fuels with high moisture contcna, cattle feed exemplified by sugar beet pulp. lumber. paper pulp. paper and sludges. Steam drying is compared to flue gas drying of biofuels prior to combustion in a boiler. With reference to a current insrallation in Sweden. the exergy losses. as manifested by loss of co-generation cupacity. are discussed. The energy saving potentid when using steam drying of sugar beet pulp as compared to other possible plant configurations is demonstrated. Mechanical vapour recompression applied to steam drying is analysed with reference to reponed dau from industriul plsnts. Finally. environmcntul advantages when using steam drying are presented. 相似文献

Synthesis of silver‐doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Ag) nanoparticles through precipitation method has been reported. The synthesis was conducted at room temperature and no subsequent thermal treatment was applied. ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and ultraviolet‐visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy. Detailed crystallographic investigation was accomplished through Rietveld refinement. The effect of silver content on structural and optical properties of resultant ZnO nanoparticles has been reported. It was found that silver doping results in positional shifts for the XRD peaks and the absorption band edge of ZnO. These were attributed to the substitutional incorporation of Ag+ ions into Zn2+ sites within the ZnO crystal. In addition, higher silver incorporation resulted in smaller size for ZnO nanoparticles. The photocatalytic activity of the ZnO:Ag nanoparticles was also determined by methylene orange (MO) degradation studies and compared to that of undoped ZnO. Improved photocatalytic activity was obtained for ZnO:Ag nanoparticles. It has been shown that an optimum amount of silver dopant is required to obtain maximum photocatalytic activity. 相似文献

An economic analysis was carried out for three different recycle/recovery options for waste pickling liquors from hydrochloric acid pickling baths in an existing small-mid scale plant presently neutralizing and discarding waste pickling liquors. The analysis was based on process synthesis and design, which were completed by using real plant data along with some experimental work. Three basic schemes were studied: the addition of metallic iron to convert unused hydrochloric acid to ferrous chloride recovery by evaporation and recycling of a large proportion of the unused acid, and removal of ferrous chloride by crystallization to enable the recycling of the unused acid. All three schemes were evaluated at the same concentration of ferrous chloride by-product, which can be directly sold or converted later to ferric chloride, which has a higher market value. Extrapolation of existing solubility data was verified experimentally, cost estimation was done for purchased equipment and utility requirement, and feasibility analyses of the process schemes were completed. Depending on the market demand for the by-product and the criteria chosen, metallic iron addition or evaporation found to be recommendable, while the relatively more expensive crystallization process was also found to bring improvement over the no-treatment alternative. 相似文献

Immediate dentin sealing (IDS) could avoid contamination of dentin from impression material and provisional cement but prior to final cementation of indirect restorations, removal of the provisional cement may damage the IDS. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect of mechanical and air-particle cleansing protocols of provisional cement on IDS layer and subsequent adhesion of resin composite cement. The cuspal dentin surfaces of human third molars (N = 21, nquadrant = 84) were exposed by a low-speed diamond saw under water cooling and conditioned with an adhesive system based on the three-step etch and rinse technique (OptiBond FL). Provisional cement (Freegenol) was applied on each specimen. They were then randomly divided into six subgroups where the provisional cement was removed either by (1) air-borne particle abrasion with 50-μm Al2O3 particles at 2 bar (AL2), (2) air-borne particle abrasion with 50-μm Al2O3 particles at 3.5 bar (AL3.5), (3) air-borne particle abrasion with 30-μm SiO2 particles at 2 bar (SL2), (4) air-borne particle abrasion with 30-μm SiO2 particles at 3.5 bar (SL3.5), (5) prophylaxy paste (Cleanic) (PP) or (6) pumice-water slurry (PW) at 1500 rpm for 15 s. The dentin surface on each tooth was assigned to four quadrants and each quadrant received the cleansing methods in a clockwise sequence. The non-contaminated and non-cleansed teeth acted as the control (C). Two separate teeth, contaminated and cleansed according to six cleansing protocols, were allocated for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis (×2000). The dentin surfaces in each quadrant received resin composite luting cement (Variolink II, Ivoclar Vivadent) incrementally in a polyethylene mould (diameter: 1 mm2; height: 4 mm) and photopolymerized. The specimens were stored in distilled water for 24 h at 37 °C until the testing procedures and then shear force was applied to the adhesive interface until failure occurred in a universal testing machine (0.5 mm/min). Microshear bond (μSBS) was calculated by dividing the maximum load (N) by the bonding surface area of the resin cement. Failure types were analysed using optical microscope and SEM. Data (MPa) were analysed using one-way ANOVA (α = 0.05). Two-parameter Weibull distribution values including the Weibull modulus, scale (m) and shape (0), values were calculated. Mean μSBS results (MPa) showed a significant difference between the experimental groups (p = 0.011) and were in a descending order as follows: C (8 ± 2.3)a < AL2 (6.7 ± 2.4)b < PP (6.9 ± 2)b < PW (6.5 ± 2.1)b < AL3.5 (5.8 ± 1.1)b < SL2 (5.3 ± 1)b < SL3.5 (5.2 ± 1)b. Failure types were predominantly mixed failure type between the dentin and the adhesive resin which is a combination of adhesive and cohesive failures in the adhesive resin. Cohesive failure in the dentin was not observed in any of the groups. Weibull distribution presented lower shape (0) for C (3.9), AL2 (3.2), PP (3.5) and PW (3.6). SEM analysis showed rough surfaces especially in the air-abraded groups whereas mechanical cleansing methods presented smoother surfaces and partially covered by particle remnants all of which occluded the dentin tubuli. 相似文献
