The experimental stand and procedure for flow boiling investigations are described. Experimental data for pure R22, R134a, R407C and their mixtures with polyester oil FUCHS Reniso/Triton SEZ 32 in a tube with porous coating and smooth, stainless steel reference tube are presented. Mass fraction of oil was equal to 1% or 5%. During the tests inlet vapour quality was set at 0 and outlet quality at 0.7. Mass velocity varied from about 250 to 500 kg/m2s. The experiments have been conducted for average saturation temperature 0 °C. In the case of flow boiling of pure refrigerants, the application of a porous coating on inner surface of a tube results in higher average heat transfer coefficient and simultaneously in lower pressure drop in comparison with the flow boiling in a smooth tube for the same mass velocity. Correlation equation for heat transfer coefficient calculation during the flow boiling of pure refrigerants inside a tube with porous coating has been proposed.  相似文献

For decades, residential and commercial roofs have been considered a prime location for installation of building integrated solar systems. In climatic conditions of East Tennessee, USA, an experimental solar roof was tested during 2009/2010, by a research team representing Metal Construction Association (MCA), and a consortium of building insulation companies, photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers, and energy research centers. The main objective was to thermally evaluate a new roofing technology utilizing amorphous silicon PV laminates integrated with the metal roof panels. In order to mitigate thermal bridging and reduce roof-generated thermal loads, this novel roof/attic assembly contained a phase change material (PCM) heat sink, a ventilated air cavity over the roof deck, and thermal insulation with an integrated reflective surface. During winter, the experimental roof was expected to work as a passive solar collector storing solar heat absorbed during the day, and increasing overall attic air temperature during the night. During summer, the PCM was expected to act as a heat sink, reducing the heat gained by the attic and consequently, lowering the building cooling-loads.In this paper, field thermal performance data of the experimental PV-PCM roof/attic system are presented and discussed. Performance of the PV-PCM roof/attic is evaluated by comparing it to a control asphalt shingle roof. The test results showed about 30% heating and 50% cooling load reductions are possible with the experimental roof configuration.  相似文献

Abstract: In this work, the viscoplastic behaviour of 6082‐T6 and 7075‐T6 aluminium alloys is examined over a wide range of strain rates. Three different testing techniques were applied to this investigation: low‐rate experiments were performed using a regular servo‐hydraulic testing machine, high‐rate tests were conducted using a split Hopkinson bar apparatus and very‐high‐rate experiments were carried out using a miniaturised direct impact test arrangement. The latter testing set‐up allowed for the characterisation of material flow at strain rates up to . These experimental results showed a sharp increase in the rate sensitivity of the materials once a threshold loading rate of is exceeded. This behaviour may be attributed to the presence of viscous drag on high‐velocity dislocation motion. In addition, the thermo‐viscoplastic behaviour of the 6082‐T6 and 7075‐T6 aluminium alloys was analytically described using the extended Rusinek–Klepaczko model of viscous drag effects. Quantum dot (QD) contrast-enhanced molecular imaging has potential for early cancer detection and image guided treatment, but there is a lack of quantitative image contrast data to determine optimum QD administered doses, affecting the feasibility, risk and cost of such procedures, especially in vivo. Vascular fluorescence contrast-enhanced imaging is performed on nude mice bearing dorsal skinfold window chambers, injected with 4 different QD solutions emitting in the visible and near infrared. Linear relationships are observed among the vascular contrast, injected contrast agent volume, and QD concentration in blood. Due primarily to differential light absorption by blood, the vasculature is optimally visualized when exciting in the 435-480 nm region in 81% of the cases (89 out of 110 regions of interest in 22 window chambers). The threshold dose, defined here as the quantity of injected nanoparticles required to yield a vascular target-to-autofluorescence ratio of 2, varies from 10.6 to 0.15 pmol g(-1) depending on the QD emission wavelength. The wavelength optimization maximum and broadband gain, defined as the ratio of threshold doses estimated for optimal and suboptimal (worst wavelength or broadband) spectral illumination, has average values of 4.5 and 1.9, respectively. This study demonstrates, for the first time, optimized QD imaging in vivo. It also proposes and validates a theoretical framework for QD dose estimation and quantifies the effects of blood absorption, QD emission wavelength, and vessel diameter relative to the threshold dose.  相似文献

A novel material combination of a large diameter Biolox(?) Delta zirconia-toughened-alumina (ZTA) head and a pitch-based carbon fibre reinforced poly ether-ether-ketone (CFR-PEEK) MOTIS(?) cup has been studied. The acetabular cups were inclined at three angles and tested using Durham Hip Simulators. The different inclination angles used did not have a significant effect on the wear rates (ANOVA, p = 0.646). Averaged over all cups, the wear rates were calculated to be 0.551 ± 0.115 mm(3)/10(6) cycles and 0.493 ± 0.107 mm(3)/10(6) cycles taking into account two types of soak controls; loaded at room temperature and unloaded at 37 °C respectively. Averaged across all femoral heads, the wear rate was 0.243 ± 0.031 mm(3)/10(6) cycles. The temperature change of the lubricant caused by the frictional heat was measured in situ. Friction factors measured using the Durham Friction Simulator were lower for the worn CFR-PEEK cups compared with unworn. This correlated with the decreased surface roughness. Even though relatively high friction was observed in these hemispherical hard-on-soft bearings, the wear rate is encouragingly low.  相似文献

An illusion of explanatory depth (IOED) occurs when people believe they understand a concept more deeply than they actually do. To date, IOEDs have been identified only in mechanical and natural domains, occluding why they occur and suggesting that their implications are quite limited. Six studies illustrated that IOEDs occur because people adopt an inappropriately abstract construal style when they assess how well they understand concrete concepts. As this mechanism predicts, participants who naturally adopted concrete construal styles (Study 1) or were induced to adopt a concrete construal style (Studies 2–4 and 6), experienced diminished IOEDs. Two additional studies documented a novel IOED in the social psychological domain of electoral voting (Studies 5 and 6), demonstrating the generality of the construal mechanism, the authors also extended the presumed boundary conditions of the effect beyond mechanical and natural domains. These findings suggest a novel factor that might contribute to such diverse social-cognitive shortcomings as stereotyping, egocentrism, and the planning fallacy, where people adopt abstract representations of concepts that should be represented concretely. People commonly anthropomorphize nonhuman agents, imbuing everything from computers to pets to gods with humanlike capacities and mental experiences. Although widely observed, the determinants of anthropomorphism are poorly understood and rarely investigated. We propose that people anthropomorphize, in part, to satisfy effectance motivation—the basic and chronic motivation to attain mastery of one's environment. Five studies demonstrated that increasing effectance motivation by manipulating the perceived unpredictability of a nonhuman agent or by increasing the incentives for mastery increases anthropomorphism. Neuroimaging data demonstrated that the neural correlates of this process are similar to those engaged when mentalizing other humans. A final study demonstrated that anthropomorphizing a stimulus makes it appear more predictable and understandable, suggesting that anthropomorphism satisfies effectance motivation. Average crystallite sizes of microbially synthesized pure, metal-, and lanthanide-substituted magnetite (bio-magnetite) were determined for a variety of incubation times and temperatures, substitutional elements and amounts, bacterial species, and precursor types. The intriguing difference between nanoparticle bio-magnetite and chemically synthesized magnetite (chem-magnetite) was that powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) data showed that the bio-magnetite exhibited slightly smaller lattice parameters, however, Raman Spectroscopy exhibited no difference in Fe-O bonding. These results indicate that bio-magnetite likely exhibits a more compact crystal structure with less uncoordinated iron on the surface suppressing negative pressure effects. The bio-magnetite with decreased lattice parameters could have potential technological advantages over current commercial chemically synthesized magnetites.  相似文献
