The quality of rotational molded products is strongly affected by the sintering behavior of the powders used in the process. In turn, for a given material, the sintering behavior of polymer powders is dependent on the size and the shape of particles obtained in the milling apparatus. The quality of powders for rotational molding is usually determined by means of size distribution, dry flow, and bulk density tests. However, these tests do not provide insight into the relationship between the shape of powders, the milling conditions, and the sintering behavior during the rotational molding cycle. Nevertheless, the application of mathematical tools to powder analysis can significantly improve the efficiency of the grinding process, looking not only at the size but also at the shape of the powder. This can in turn result in a higher reliability of rotational molding and in better performances of the products obtained in processes dominated by the sintering behavior of polymer powders. In this work the grinding process of recycled high‐density polyethylene was analyzed using a quantitative approach to the shape and size of the powders. In particular, shape factors, capable of characterizing powders obtained in different milling conditions, were studied. Poly(vinyl) butyral (PVB) nanofibers (NFs) and carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced PVB NF composites were developed by using the Forcespinning® technology. PVB was dissolved in a mixture of ethanol and methanol (7:3 wt/wt) at various concentrations, and the solutions were spun at rotational speeds varying between 3,000 and 9,000 rpm. The CNT/PVB solutions were prepared using the same solvent ratio with varying the concentration of CNTs. The results show that the diameter of the PVB fibers increased with increasing rotational speed; however the standard deviation of the fiber diameter distribution decreased. The morphology and thermal properties of the developed fiber systems were studied by DSC, TGA, Raman, and FTIR. The effect of CNT on the mechanical properties of the developed fibers was investigated by carrying out tensile tests at different strain rates. Raman and FTIR analyses indicate a noncovalent π–π stacking interactions and hydrogen bonding between CNT and the PVB NFs. A novel pectin was acid extracted from chickpea husk (CHP). CHP presented a 67% (w/w) of galacturonic acid, an intrinsic viscosity of 374 mL/g and a viscosimetric molecular weight of 110 kDa. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectrum of CHP indicated a degree of esterification of about 10%. The CHP-calcium system formed ionic gels with a storage (G') modulus of 40 Pa and gel set time (G' > G″) of 3 min at 1% (w/v), and a G' of 131 Pa and gel set time of 1 min at 2% (w/v). The G' of CHP gels was not greatly affected by temperature. The results attained suggest that chickpea husk can be a potential source of a gelling pectin material.  相似文献

Fully bio-based and biodegradable active films based on poly(lactic acid) (PLA) blended with poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) and incorporating lactic acid oligomers (OLA) as plasticizers and carvacrol as active agent were extruded and fully characterized in their functional properties for antimicrobial active packaging. PLA_PHB films showed good barrier to water vapor, while the resistance to oxygen diffusion decreased with the addition of OLA and carvacrol. Their overall migration in aqueous food simulant was determined and no significant changes were observed by the addition of carvacrol and OLA to the PLA_PHB formulations. However, the effect of both additives in fatty food simulant can be considered a positive feature for the potential protection of foodstuff with high fat content. Moreover, the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of the proposed formulations increased by the presence of carvacrol, with enhanced activity against Staphylococcus aureus if compared to Escherichia coli at short and long incubation times. These results underlined the specific antimicrobial properties of these bio-films suggesting their applicability in active food packaging.  相似文献

The effectiveness of ultraviolet irradiation in inactivating microorganisms has been known for decades. Nevertheless, in the processing of foodstuff other important issues must be considered, such as organoleptic or nutritional properties preservation. Ultraviolet irradiation constitutes an alternative to thermal treatment that is being studied and developed to obtain a better final product sensory quality, but without neglecting microbial safety. Moreover, it has been proved that this technology can be useful to decompose some toxins that are not affected by thermal processing. In this piece of work, the effect of UV irradiation on all of these contaminants and components of liquid food has been reviewed.  相似文献

This paper studies the synthesis of structured triacylglycerols (STAGs) rich in palmitic and docosahexaenoic acids (PA and DHA) at sn-2 position and oleic acid (OA) at sn-1,3 positions by a four step process. First, triacylglycerols (TAGs) were obtained with 63–66 mol PA/100 mol total fatty acids and 10 mol DHA/100 mol by acidolysis of tuna oil and commercial PA, catalyzed by the non-positionally specific lipase Novozym 435. Then these TAGs were purified neutralizing the free fatty acids (FFAs) by KOH hydroethanolic solutions and extracting TAGs with hexane; these TAGs were completely recovered as pure TAGs (without FFAs). The third step involved the displacement of fatty acids located at sn-1,3 positions by acidolysis of PA and DHA enriched TAGs with OA rich FFAs, catalyzed by the sn-1,3 specific lipase DF from Rhizopus oryzae, immobilized on Accurel MP-1000; TAGs with 67 mol OA/100 mol at sn-1,3 positions and 52.1 and 15.4 mol PA and DHA, respectively, per 100 mol at sn-2 position were obtained. Both acidolysis reactions were carried out in stirred tank reactors (STRs) with lipase both dispersed in the reaction medium and contained in a cartridge filter attached to the stirrer rod. Finally STAGs were purified and obtained with yields of over 80 mol STAGs/100 mol STAGs in the reaction product (no FFAs were detected).  相似文献

Impulsive dynamical systems is a well-established area of dynamical systems theory, and it is used in this work to analyse several basic properties of reset control systems: existence and uniqueness of solutions, and continuous dependence on the initial condition (well-posedness). The work scope is about reset control systems with a linear and time-invariant base system, and a zero-crossing resetting law. A necessary and sufficient condition for existence and uniqueness of solutions, based on the well-posedness of reset instants, is developed. As a result, it is shown that reset control systems (with strictly proper plants) do not have Zeno solutions. It is also shown that full reset and partial reset (with a special structure) always produce well-posed reset instants. Moreover, a definition of continuous dependence on the initial condition is developed, and also a sufficient condition for reset control systems to satisfy that property. Finally, this property is used to analyse sensitivity of reset control systems to sensor noise. This work also includes a number of illustrative examples motivating the key concepts and main results.  相似文献
