A fast and efficient hybrid fractal-wavelet image coder.   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The excellent visual quality and compression rate of fractal image coding have limited applications due to exhaustive inherent encoding time. This paper presents a new fast and efficient image coder that applies the speed of the wavelet transform to the image quality of the fractal compression. Fast fractal encoding using Fisher's domain classification is applied to the lowpass subband of wavelet transformed image and a modified set partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) coding, on the remaining coefficients. Furthermore, image details and wavelet progressive transmission characteristics are maintained, no blocking effects from fractal techniques are introduced, and the encoding fidelity problem common in fractal-wavelet hybrid coders is solved. The proposed scheme promotes an average of 94% reduction in encoding-decoding time comparing to the pure accelerated Fractal coding results. The simulations also compare the results to the SPIHT wavelet coding. In both cases, the new scheme improves the subjective quality of pictures for high-medium-low bitrates.  相似文献

This article reports the latest results of an R&D effort to develop a prototype implementation of a dynamic policy-based network management (PBNM) system that can be used to configure and manage a secure network for a coalition environment across an unsecured wide area network. The prototype, based on a distributed architecture, includes capabilities for policy creation and management, dynamic policy negotiation, and dynamic policy provisioning. The policy negotiation facilitates the rapid deployment of a coalition network while the dynamic policy provisioning automates the configuration and management of network services including firewalls, virtual private network connections, routing, quality of service (QoS), and domain name services. Such a PBNM system enhances an organization's ability to react to network incidents identified by a network situational awareness assessment. Although the focus of the current research is a military coalition environment, the system can be used in any distributed enterprise or collaborative environment  相似文献

Light detection technologies are of interest due to their applications in energy conversion and optical communications. Single-crystal organic semiconductors, such as rubrene, present high detectivities and charge carrier mobility, making them attractive for light-sensing applications. Growth of high crystallinity organic crystals is achieved using vapor processes, forming crystals of arbitrary shapes and orientations and requiring posterior patterning processes. However, patterning the organic semiconductors using industry-standard microfabrication techniques is not straightforward, as these often cause irreversible damage to the crystals. Here the fabrication of patterned micrometric rubrene photosensors is demonstrated through a combination of photolithography and Reactive Ion Etching steps. Protective layers during microfabrication minimize degradation of optoelectronic properties of the organic single crystals during fabrication. Crystals undergoing the patterning process presented a survival rate of 39%. Photoresponse values of up to 41 mA W−1 are obtained under illumination at 500 nm. This opens a route for the industrial-scale fabrication process of high-performance optoelectronic devices based on organic crystals semiconductors.  相似文献

Ultranarrowband organic photodiodes (OPDs) are demonstrated for thin film solid state materials composed of tightly packed dipolar merocyanine dyes. For these dyes the packing arrangement can be controlled by the bulkiness of the donor substituent, leading to either strong H‐ or strong J‐type exciton coupling in the interesting blue (H‐aggregate) and NIR (J‐aggregate) spectral ranges. Both bands are shown to arise from one single exciton band according to fluorescence measurements and are not just a mere consequence of different polymorphs within the same thin film. By fabrication of organic thin‐film transistors, these dyes are demonstrated to exhibit hole transport behavior in spin‐coated thin films. Moreover, when used as organic photodiodes in planar heterojunctions with C60 fullerene, they show wavelength‐selective photocurrents in the solid state with maximum external quantum efficiencies of up to 11% and ultranarrow bandwidths down to 30 nm. Thereby, narrowing the linewidths of optoelectronic functional materials by exciton coupling provides a powerful approach to produce ultranarrowband organic photodiodes.  相似文献

The analysis of a multicell topology that is implemented with single-phase nonregenerative cells under an unbalanced ac mains is presented. The study shows that the topology naturally compensates most of the voltage unbalance; for instance, for a 100% voltage unbalance in the ac mains, just 32% reaches the load. For critical applications, a feedforward control technique is proposed in order to compensate the remaining unbalance at the load side. The resulting topology, in combination with the proposed strategy, reduces near to zero the load fundamental voltage unbalance, while the input current unbalance and distortion are also improved. A theoretical analysis that is based on symmetrical components and the experimental results confirm the theoretical considerations.  相似文献

Monitoring speech quality in Voice over IP (VoIP) networks is important to ensure a minimal acceptable level of speech quality for IP calls running through a managed network. Information such as packet loss, codec type, jitter, end‐to‐end delay and overall speech quality enables the network manager to verify and accurately tune parameters in order to adjust network problems. The present article proposes the deployment of a monitoring architecture that collects, stores and displays speech quality information about concluded voice calls. This architecture is based on our proposed MIB (Management Information Base) VOIPQOS, deployed for speech quality monitoring purposes. Currently, the architecture is totally implemented, but under adjustment and validation tests. In the future, the VOIPQOS MIB can be expanded to automatically analyze collected data and control VoIP clients and network parameters for tuning the overall speech quality of ongoing calls. The fabrication of high‐resolution nanostructures in both poly(p‐phenylene vinylene), PPV, and a crosslinkable derivative of poly(9,9′‐dioctylfluorene), F8, using scanning near‐field optical lithography, is reported. The ability to draw complex, reproducible structures with 65000 pixels and lateral resolution below 60 nm (< λ/5) is demonstrated over areas up to 20 μm × 20 μm. Patterning on length‐scales of this order is desirable for realizing applications both in organic nanoelectronics and nanophotonics. The technique is based on the site‐selective insolubilization of a precursor polymer under exposure to the confined optical field present at the tip of an apertured near‐field optical fiber probe. In the case of PPV, a leaving‐group reaction is utilized to achieve insolubilization, whereas the polyfluorene is insolubilized using a photoacid initiator to create a crosslinked network in situ. For PPV, resolubilization of the features is observed at high exposure energies. This is not seen for the crosslinked F8 derivative, r‐F8Ox, allowing us to pattern structures up to 200 nm in height.  相似文献

This work describes sequences of extended morphological transformations for filtering and classification of high-dimensional remotely sensed hyperspectral datasets. The proposed approaches are based on the generalization of concepts from mathematical morphology theory to multichannel imagery. A new vector organization scheme is described, and fundamental morphological vector operations are defined by extension. Extended morphological transformations, characterized by simultaneously considering the spatial and spectral information contained in hyperspectral datasets, are applied to agricultural and urban classification problems where efficacy in discriminating between subtly different ground covers is required. The methods are tested using real hyperspectral imagery collected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Jet Propulsion Laboratory Airborne Visible-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer and the German Aerospace Agency Digital Airborne Imaging Spectrometer (DAIS 7915). Experimental results reveal that, by designing morphological filtering methods that take into account the complementary nature of spatial and spectral information in a simultaneous manner, it is possible to alleviate the problems related to each of them when taken separately.  相似文献

FASANT is a computer tool for the analysis of antennas on-board satellites, ships, aircraft, and other complex bodies. The structure under analysis, which can be metallic or dielectric (with and/or without losses), must be modeled by plane and/or curved surfaces. The geometrical input files are in DXF format, and can be generated by the most commonly used computer-aided geometrical-design (CAGD) tools. The code can also be applied to the analysis of arrays and arbitrarily shaped reflectors. The kernel of the code is based on the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD). Special algorithms have been developed to speed up the ray-tracing computation for both flat and curved surfaces. FASANT can obtain far-field patterns, field levels at points near the structure, can calculate the mutual coupling between antennas or between array elements, and can show each ray-tracing mechanism  相似文献

This paper introduces a multi-agent behavioral-based optimization algorithm for system level radio design. Making multi-standard wireless communication receivers that meet their specs while keeping the requirements of the individual blocks as relaxed as possible is the goal of this algorithm. In order to achieve this goal a “divide and conquer” approach is proposed. Different agents focus on different objectives that are pursued in parallel. Agents adopt different behaviors depending on the status of the environment and their interaction with other agents. Agents are cooperative by default as they try to meet their spec without making changes that affect other agents. However, more aggressive behaviors that lead to global changes can be adopted when needed. The interaction between these simple entities yields an emergent behavior able to deal smoothly with the complexity of the problem at hand.  相似文献
