Michael Mahoney, who made seminal contributions not only to the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI) but also to the entire field of psychotherapy, died a tragic death at the age of 60 on May 31, 2006. He published more than 250 scholarly articles and chapters, authored and edited 19 books (one of which was awarded a Citation Classic by the Science Citation Index), edited 4 journals, and served on 23 editorial boards plus numerous guest editorships and advisory boards. His research spanned a tremendous breadth without sacrificing depth. Primarily, however, he inquired into development across the life course, including but not limited to psychotherapy. Initially trained as a behaviorist, he played a significant role in the cognitive revolution in psychology; he was also a leading figure in constructivist psychotherapies. He was a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, as well as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. This paper proposes an analytical model for line (1D) and point contacts (2D), based upon the Ertel’s hypothesis to predict the evolution of film thickness in steady-state and transient conditions in elastohydrodynamic lubrication. This theoretical approach, applied to a velocity ramp at constant deceleration, is perfectly supported by experimental results in terms of film thickness distribution during the deceleration process and in terms of central film thickness at the vanishing of the entrainment velocity. This work emphasizes the role of the transport effects of the lubricant at the instantaneous entrainment velocity on the time and length scales at which the film thickness disturbances induced by the deceleration process occur until the complete halting of the surfaces. 相似文献

This paper presents a new arrangement for the indicating measurement system utilized in the study of internal combustion engines. In this experimental configuration, the current polarized by a piezoelectric pressure transducer is converted into an analog signal proportional to the cylinder pressure variation rate, which constitutes the primary information for combustion heat release analysis. The proposed technique reduces the uncertainty in the pressure derivative data, providing more accurate heat release results than those obtained with the traditional transducer signal conditioning procedure, which requires the numerical derivation of in-cylinder pressure data supplied by a charge amplifier. 相似文献

Brazilian petrobras is one of the world largest oil companies. Recurrently, it faces a very difficult planning and scheduling problem: how to
operate a large pipeline network in order to adequately transport oil derivatives and biofuels from refineries to local markets.
In spite of being more economical and environmentally safer, the use of a complex pipeline network poses serious operational
difficulties related to resource allocation and temporal constraints. The current approaches known from the literature only
consider a few types of constraints and restricted topologies, hence they are far from being applicable to real instances
from petrobras. We propose a hybrid framework based on a two-phase problem decomposition strategy. A novel Constraint Programming (CP) model
plays a key role in modelling operational constraints that are usually overlooked in literature, but that are essential in
order to guarantee viable solutions. The full strategy was implemented and produced very adequate results when tested over

Maillard reaction products (MRPs) were prepared from aqueous model mixtures containing 60 g L? 1 ribose and 30 g L? 1 of the bioactive tripeptide IPP (Ile-Pro-Pro), heated at 98 °C. MRP and associated reactions with changes in IPP were observed within one hour of heat-treatment. The pH of MRPs decreased significantly during the heat treatment of IPP–ribose mixtures from 9.0 to 7.6 after one hour. The amino group content, IPP and ribose concentration decreased significantly during heat treatment. The fluorescence intensity of the IPP–ribose MRPs reached the maximum within 2 h. Modification of the UV/vis spectra for IPP–ribose MRPs was mainly due to a condensation reaction of IPP with ribose. Compounds with molecular weight between 300 and 650 Da were dominant while compounds smaller than 250 Da were also produced during the reactions, as characterized by size exclusion chromatography. Mass spectrometry revealed that IPP was conjugated to ribose at the N-terminal (m/z of 458.3) upon heat-treatment. The presence of ribose also promoted peptide degradation to dehydrated IP (m/z of 211.1). IPP–ribose MRPs lost the known angiotensin-I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity of IPP; however, strong antioxidant properties were detected. 相似文献

Barium strontium titanate (BST) thin films are studied with respect to their application as tunable dielectric at microwave frequencies. BST thin films are deposited by means of radio-frequency magnetron sputtering on platinized Si substrates. The substrate to target distance during sputter deposition is varied and the effect on structure, topology, composition and electronic properties is monitored using X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, Rutherford backscattering spectrometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. These findings are related to the dielectric measurements, which are carried out at 1 MHz and in the microwave range up to 8 GHz using metal-insulator-metal structures with Pt electrodes. For further device evaluation, leakage current measurements are carried out. Changing the process parameter strongly affects the composition of the films. The results emphasize the possibility for enhancing the microwave properties by fine-tuning of the chosen process parameter. 相似文献

Recent studies have yielded evidence that plant flavonoids reduce hepatic lipid and apolipoprotein B (apoB) secretion. However,
the possible role of flavonoids in regulating lipid and apoB secretion by the intestine has not been studied. The purpose
of our study was to examine the effects of quercetin, a common dietary flavonoid, on TAG and apoB secretion in a human intestinal
cell-line, CaCo-2. Differentiated postconfluent CaCo-2 cells grown on filters and pretreated with quercetin for 8 h were shown
by ELISA to inhibit basolateral apoB secretion in a dose-dependent manner. At 15 μM, the secretion of both apoB-100 and apoB-48
were inhibited similarly. This effect was shown to be specific, as quercetin did not affect the incorporation of [35S]methionine/cysteine into secreted TCA-precipitable proteins. To determine the mechanism underlying this inhibitory effect,
we examined two regulatory points: IAG availability and lipid transfer to the lipoprotein particle. Quercetin inhibited TAG
synthesis under both basal and lipid-rich conditions, indicating that lipid availability is a determining factor in the regulation
of apoB secretion by quercetin. The reduction was due at least in part to a decrease in diacylglycerol acyltransferase activity.
We next examined lipid transfer or lipidation of the lipoprotein particle by analyzing microsomal IAG transfer protein (MTP)
activity. Quercetin decreased MTP activity moderately. In summary, the data demonstrated that pharmacological concentrations
of quercetin are a potent inhibitor of intestinal apoB secretion and that reduced lipid availability and lipidation in the
lipoprotein assembly step are the mechanism for the suppression of apoB-containing lipoprotein secretion by quercetin in CaCo-2
