The influence of the CuO–TiO2 phase (CT) on dielectric properties of the CCTO ceramic was investigated. CaCuXTiYO12 (CCXTYO) powders were prepared based on the coprecipitated method, where 2.70 ≤ x ≤ 3.30 and 3.25 ≤ y ≤ 4.75. XRD patterns confirmed the presence of CCTO and also the secondary phases as CuO, TiO2, and CaTiO3 for each sample and aided in its quantification. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) shows secondary phases evolution in the grain boundaries, and its influence on size and morphology of the grains. Impedance spectroscopy measurements showed that the ceramics with lower amount of CuO and TiO2 phases (CT/deficient ceramics) exhibited the highest ε′ values (2.1 × 104 at 1 kHz for CC2.9T3.75O ceramic). Also, CT/deficient ceramics showed lower tanδ values (0.090 at 1 kHz for CC2.9T3.75O ceramic) than ceramics prepared with excessive CuO–TiO2 phase (0.241 at 1 kHz for CC3.1T4.25O ceramics). The deficiency of CuO and TiO2 phases associated with high percentage of CCTO and CaTiO3 phases resulted in ceramics with the higher ε′ values.  相似文献

The preparation of poly(hexylacrylate)core‐poly(ethyleneglycol methacrylate)shell (PHA‐co‐PEGMA) nanogels, to be used as fillers in nanocomposite hydrogels, is reported. Stable nanogels with particle sizes between 90–300 nm were obtained varying the conditions of synthesis. The synthesis recipe of the nanogels could be easily scaled up. Purified and dispersed nanogels in aqueous solution were used as soft fillers for poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) hydrogels, crosslinked with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA). The obtained nanocomposite hydrogels exhibit a larger swelling capacity and a higher thermal stability in comparison with the non‐filled PHEMA hydrogels. Young, storage, and lost moduli, increase largely, in the better case up to 72.5% in the swollen state; while in the dry state the storage modulus increase up to 4.7 fold with a very low load on nanogels (0.64 wt%); resulting in biomaterials with improved properties with potential applications in medical devices. The effect of the broad spectrum cyclic antimicrobial peptide enterocin AS-48 combination with high-intensity pulsed-electric field (HIPEF) treatment (35 kV/cm, 150 Hz, 4 micros and bipolar mode) was tested on Salmonella enterica CECT 915 in apple juice. A response surface methodology was applied to study the bactericidal effects of the combined treatment. The process variables were AS-48 concentration, temperature, and HIPEF treatment time. While treatment with enterocin AS-48 alone up to 60 microg/ml had no effect on the viability of S. enterica in apple juice, an increased bactericidal activity was observed in combination with HIPEF treatments. Survival fraction was affected by treatment time, enterocin AS48 concentration and treatment temperature. The combination of 100 micros of HIPEF treatment, 30 microg/ml of AS-48, and temperature of 20 degrees C resulted in the lowest inactivation, with only a 1.2-log reduction. The maximum inactivation of 4.5-log cycles was achieved with HIPEF treatment for 1000 micros in combination with 60 microg/ml of AS-48 and a treatment temperature of 40 degrees C. Synergism between enterocin AS-48 and HIPEF treatment depended on the sequence order application, since it was observed only when HIPEF was applied in the presence of previously-added bacteriocin. The combined treatment could improve the safety of freshly-made apple juice against S. enterica transmission.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: In Equatorial Guinea, as a result of the recent growth of the oil industry, there is an opportunity to address important public health problems through public and private initiatives. To propose effective nutrition and public health strategies, it is important first to have reliable information on the nutritional status of the population and the underlying factors affecting it. OBJECTIVE: To assess the nutritional status and the prevalence of anemia among Equatoguinean children in a nationally representative sample and to identify the risk factors associated with the nutritional problems detected. METHODS: The study was a cross-sectional survey using a multistaged, stratified, cluster-selected sample. The survey included a sociodemographic, health, and dietary questionnaire and measurement of hematocrit and anthropometric features, from which nutritional indicators based on the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) reference and the World Health Organization (WHO) standards were calculated. Logistic regression models were used for the multivariate analysis. A total of 552 children aged 0 to 60 months were surveyed. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of stunting (< -2 height-for-age z-scores [HAZ]) was 29.7% based on the NCHS reference and 35.2% based on WHO standards; the risk factors associated with stunting were age (p < .0001), low socioeconomic status (p = .01), and fishing by a member of the household (p = .003) The prevalence of mild anemia (hemoglobin < 110 g/L) was 69.3%, and that of moderate or severe anemia (hemoglobin < 80 g/L) was 8.3%. The only significant risk factor associated with moderate to severe anemia was low household socioeducational level (p = .01). CONCLUSIONS: Stunting and anemia are public health problems in Equatorial Guinea. Integrated strategies, including fighting poverty and improving maternal education, should be undertaken.  相似文献

Raw and processed foods are open to contamination during their production, sale and distribution. At present, therefore, a wide variety of chemical preservatives are used throughout the food industry to prevent the growth of food spoiling bacteria. However health and economic considerations have led to a search for alternatives, such as essentials oils that can safely be used as substitutes for fungicides and bactericides to partially or completely inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria. The aim of this work was to determine the effectiveness of the essentials oils from oregano (Origanum vulgare), thyme (Thymus vulgaris), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), sage (Salvia officinalis), cumin (Cuminum cyminum) and clove (Syzygium aromaticum) on the growth of some bacteria commonly used in the food industry, Lactobacillus curvatus, Lactobacillus sakei, Staphylococcus carnosus and Staphylococcus xylosus or related to food spoilage Enterobacter gergoviae, Enterobacter amnigenus. The agar disc diffusion method was used to determine the antibacterial activities of the oils. All six essential oils analysed had an inhibitory effect on the six tested bacteria. Oregano essential oil showed the highest inhibition effect followed by cumin and clove.  相似文献

Acid soluble collagen (ASC) and pepsin soluble collagen (PSC) were extracted from scale of spotted golden goatfish (Parupeneus heptacanthus) with the yields of 0.46% and 1.20% (based on dry weight basis), respectively. Both ASC and PSC were characterised as type I collagen, containing α1 and α2 chains. β and γ components were also found in both collagens. Based on FTIR spectra, the limited digestion by pepsin did not disrupt the triple helical structure of collagen. ASC and PSC contained glycine (336–340 residues/1000 residues) as the major amino acid and had imino acids of 186–189 residues/1000 residues. Maximal transition temperatures (Tmax) were 41.58 and 41.01 °C for ASC and PSC, respectively. From zeta potential analysis, net charge of zero was found at pH 4.96 and 5.39 for ASC and PSC, respectively. Both collagens exhibited high solubility in acidic pH (2–4) and were soluble in the presence of NaCl at concentration up to 20 and 30 g/l for ASC and PSC, respectively.  相似文献

TEM specimens of a LaAlO(3)/SrTiO(3) multilayer are prepared by FIB with internal lift out. Using a Ga(+1) beam of 5 kV, a final cleaning step yielding top, top-angle, side, and bottom-angle cleaning is performed. Different cleaning procedures, which can be easily implemented in a dual beam FIB system, are described and compared; all cleaning types produce thin lamellae, useful for HRTEM and HAADF-STEM work up to atomic resolution. However, the top cleaned lamellae are strongly affected by the curtain effect. Top-angle cleaned specimens show an amorphous layer of around 5 nm at the specimen surfaces, due to damage and redeposition. Furthermore, it is observed that the LaAlO(3) layers are preferentially destroyed and transformed into amorphous material, during the thinning process.  相似文献

Analysing risk of today’s complex systems is challenging due to the complex and dynamic nature of systems. The current risk analysis tools are not able to take the complex interactions among risks into account and therefore they can’t predict the behaviour of risks accurately. In an attempt to overcome this shortcoming, this paper proposes an integrated generalised decision support tool using fuzzy cognitive maps for dynamic risk assessment of complex systems. The proposed approach has the ability to prioritise risk factors and more importantly predict and analysis the influences of each individual risk factor/risk set on the other risks or on the outcomes of complex and critical systems by taking into account probability of occurrence and consequences of risks and also considering the complex dependencies between risk factors. These features could provide practitioners with realistic results in critical industries and able them to manage risks more efficiently.  相似文献
