Modular ligation strategies for the functionalization of polymeric microspheres provide new perspectives for their applications in material science. In the current trend article we highlight variable synthetic procedures for generating functional microspheres via orthogonal modular conjugation chemistries. An overview of the different surface chemistries available is provided, followed by surface-sensitive characterization techniques relevant for the microparticles. Finally, we explore future trends in modular orthogonal modification approaches on microparticles and provide an outlook on the perspectives that the field of surface-modification of polymeric microparticles holds.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to establish the correlation among sintering process, porosity, and important thermo-mechanical property of refractory concrete, i.e., creep. Creep deformation was investigated according to the standard laboratory procedure applied at three temperatures: 1200, 1300, and 1400 °C. Corundum and bauxite-based refractory concretes were investigated. The concretes are varying in chemical and mineralogical composition. Both loss of strength and degradation of material occur when refractory concrete is subjected to increased temperature and compressive static load. Measuring of thermo-mechanical properties can indicate and monitor the changes within microstructure. Variation of refractory concrete microstructure, as a consequence of sintering process, during exposure to constant compressive load and constant elevated temperature during certain time-intervals was investigated using scanning electron microscope and Image Pro Plus program for image analysis. Obtained results of the investigation proved that creep can be useful method when type of refractory concrete is to be chosen for an application.  相似文献

Immobilised DNA-oligo layers are scientifically and technologically appealing for a wide range of sensor applications such as DNA chips. Using microcantilever-based sensors with integrated readout, we demonstrate in situ quantitative studies of surface-stress formation during self-assembly of a 25-mer thiol-modified DNA-oligo layer. The self-assembly induces a surface-stress change, which closely follows Langmuir adsorption model. The adsorption results in compressive surface-stress formation, which might be due to intermolecular repulsive forces in the oligo layer. The rate constant of the adsorption depends on the concentration of the oligo solution. Based on the calculated rate constants a surface free energy of the thiol-modified DNA-oligo adsorption on gold is found to be -32.4 kJ mol(-1). The adsorption experiments also indicate that first a single layer of DNA-oligos is assembled on the gold surface after which a significant unspecific adsorption takes place on top of the first DNA-oligo layer. The cantilever-based sensor principle has a wide range of applications in real-time local monitoring of chemical and biological interactions as well as in the detection of specific DNA sequences, proteins and particles.  相似文献

Thermolysin is catalytically inactive in mixtures of 10-15 % acetonitrile in aqueous buffer. Unexpectedly, dilution of the inactive enzyme with acetonitrile leads to complete recovery of the catalytic activity in a similar way to dilution with aqueous buffer. Circular dichroism and fluorescence studies of thermolysin in the same solvent mixtures reveal discontinuous changes in the overall secondary and tertiary protein structure that correlate well with the reversible differences in catalytic activity. The spectra on either side of the minimum activity point are different from each other, a fact indicating that the enzyme may be able to access two active conformations which are thermodynamically stable in different solvent environments.  相似文献

The vacuum deposition of ferromagnetic material at oblique incidence will become a major production technology for magnetic tapes for longitudinal recording applications in the future. In this paper the general formation mechanism of magnetic thin films, the field of relevant parameters and the dependance of magnetic properties on the essential parameters is discussed and demonstrated by a few examples of hysteresis loops: The resulting layout of laboratory and pilot production equipment developed so far for this application is demonstrated. For typical application examples, the material efficiency of the systems has been calculated as a function of the used incidence angle range. Also the differential increase in layer thickness as a function of incidence angle has been calculated in order to get a simple model for the formation of microcolumns.  相似文献

Interactive Application Systems (IAS) attend to the information needs of application experts, i.e. problem-solving end-users within particular application environments. As such, IAS must be customized functionally and behaviourally toward both user and environment. Such customizing must be feasible in an economical fashion. The study claims that this objective is met by appropriate IAS development tools and by a basic IAS architecture that consists of the following main building blocks: a general-purpose dialogue processor that is controlled by a particular user interface specification, called information net; a library of software modules and packages for providing system functions on the basis of reusable software; and a data management system that may, just like the library elements, be procured from outside, perhaps even including an already existing information base. The paper discusses the approach in detail with particular emphasis on information nets and on the integration of reusable software into a total system. The paper argues that the approach is flexible enough to accommodate (rapid) prototyping, i.e. procuring of first versions of an IAS, that may be used during requirements analysis to refine the user wishes, or operationally during an interim period until the final system becomes available.  相似文献
