Small-molecule amphiphilic species such as many drug molecules frequently exhibit low-to-negligible aqueous solubility, and generally have no identified transport proteins assisting their distribution, yet are able to rapidly penetrate significant distances into patient tissue and even cross the blood–brain barrier. Previous work has identified a mechanism of translocation driven by acid-catalysed lipid hydrolysis of biological membranes, a process which is catalysed by the presence of cationic amphiphilic drug molecules. In this study, the interactions of raclopride, a model amphiphilic drug, were investigated with mixtures of biologically relevant lipids across a range of compositions, revealing the influence of the chain-melting temperature of the lipids upon the rate of acyl hydrolysis.  相似文献

Abstract  

CuI reacts instantaneously with butanedithiol in MeCN solution to form a sparingly soluble and thermally stable colorless polymeric material 1 of composition [(Cu2I2){HS(CH2)4SH}] n . Raman and IR spectroscopy confirm the presence of Cu(I) bound S–H functions. Furthermore, small amounts of the yellow compound [{Cu(μ2-I)2Cu}(C4H8S2)2] n 2 co-crystallize after several days. If the reaction mixture is exposed to air, polymeric 2 is isolated as the main product. An X-ray diffraction study reveals that 1D polymer 2 is assembled by rhomboid Cu(μ2-I)2Cu clusters (d Cu···Cu 2.6843(18) ?), which are linked through the S-atoms of six-membered 1,2-dithian heterocycles, thus generating an infinite ribbon. The low-frequency region in the Raman spectra show a striking similarity suggesting that polymers 1 and 2 bear the same cluster rhomboid Cu(μ2-I)2Cu clusters. The photophysics and luminescence properties of 2 have been studied experimentally and by means of DFT/TDDFT calculations.  相似文献

Microbiologically-influenced corrosion behaviour of thermally aged 2205 duplex stainless steel in comparison to the as-received material was studied by exposing the coupons for 40 days in chloride medium containing sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB). Coupons exposed to the sterile medium were used as control. Electrochemical studies suggest a sharp drop in corrosion potential and increase in the anodic current for the coupons exposed to SRB. The austenite phase was found to be selectively attacked in presence of SRB for as-received material. Even though enhanced selective etching of austenite was noticed for thermally aged material, presence of actively corroding locations adjacent to the σ-phase protect the austenite phase.  相似文献

Sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) play significant role in the corrosion of stainless steels exposed to marine and soil environment. Sulfate reduction by bacterial species results in the production of H2S, which can significantly influence the anodic and cathodic processes and ultimately enhances the corrosion of materials. In the present study, 2205 type duplex stainless steel (DSS) coupons in solution-annealed condition were exposed to chloride medium containing SRB species, Desulfovibrio desulfuricans, for 40 days and examined by microscopy. Etching of the duplex structure, pitting as well as crevice attack were noticed. Similar results were obtained by microscopic studies with coupons exposed for 14 days in medium containing SRB followed by anodic polarization. SEM studies, of crevices observed after anodic polarization, indicated that the attack was initiated at the grain boundaries and slowly encroached into austenite grains. The initiation of attack was also evident from AFM studies of coupon exposed under freely corroding conditions for 7 days. ESCA studies reveal that under anaerobic conditions of SRB growth sulfidation of passive film occurs. The modified passive film found to depolarize the cathodic reactions. The nature and mechanism of SRB attack on DSS and possibility of detection at early stages were discussed.  相似文献

Several indoor atmospheric corrosion layers (0-800 years old) were selected from different localisations in France. Each sample was scrapped from its iron substrate. The resulting powder was mixed with graphite in appropriate proportions and the mixture was pressed onto a stainless steel grid to constitute a composite electrode. The electrochemical responses of the different samples were recorded under galvanostatic regulation, in a near-neutral pH-buffered NaCl solution at 25 °C. The E-t reduction curves allowed the determination of two characteristic parameters, Eτ/2, the potential value obtained at half the transition time, and Qτ, the coulombic charge obtained at the end of the reduction. The diminution of Eτ/2 and Qτ with the age of the corrosion layer showed that the “reduction reactivity” decreases with time, suggesting a progressive stabilisation of the corrosion layer.In a second part of the work, we synthesised several common ferric or ferrous/ferric products (goethite, lepidocrocite, magnetite, maghemite, ferrihydrite) and compared their reduction responses (product alone or mixture of 2 or 3 products) to those of corrosion samples.  相似文献

Iron-iron oxide core-shell nanoclusters are of great interest due to their potential applications as a remedy for environmental contamination. We report the room-temperature synthesis of core-shell iron-iron oxide nanoclusters using our novel cluster deposition system. Various types of measurements such as Transmission Electron Microscopy, X-ray Diffraction, X-ray Photon Spectroscopy, and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy are conducted in characterizing nanoclusters. Stable, monodispersive iron-iron oxide core-shell nanocrystals are identified.  相似文献

This study evaluates the effect of pre-existing relational governance mechanisms on environmental collaboration. Specifically, our study distinguishes between structural and process dimensions of relational governance mechanisms so as to facilitate a more nuanced investigation into the inherent complementarities and performance implications. Using data collected from 145 US firms and a combination of methodologies – three-stage least squares and structural equation modelling, a number of direct, complementary and mediation effects are hypothesised and tested. The three-stage least squares methodology was adopted to overcome endogeneity and simultaneity issues inherent in the hypotheses covering complementarity. Contrary to conventional wisdom, structural and process governance mechanisms were not found to act as complements for environmental collaboration. Instead, the effect of structural mechanisms was found to be completely mediated by the process mechanisms. Thus, process mechanisms of relational governance were found to be much more important in promoting advanced practices such as environmental collaboration. Our results also document the significant mediating role of environmental collaboration. Implications for future research and practice are offered.  相似文献
