This study explicates the complexity of sexual harassment coping behavior among 4 diverse samples of working women: (a) working-class Hispanic Americans, (b) working-class Anglo Americans, (c) professional Turks, and (d) professional Anglo Americans. K-means cluster analysis revealed 3 common harassment coping profiles: (a) detached, (b) avoidant negotiating, and (c) support seeking. The authors then tested an integrated framework of coping profile determinants, involving social power, stressor severity, social support, and culture. Analysis of variance, chi-square, and discriminant function results identified significant determinants at each of the 4 levels of this ecological model. These findings underscore the importance of focusing on whole patterns of experience--and considering influences at the level of the individual employee and multiple levels of the surrounding context--when studying how women cope with workplace sexual harassment. Introduction Severe nephrotic syndrome is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Renal artery embolization (RAE) has been used in a number of renal diseases such as renal tumors, arteriovenous fistulas etc. However, data regarding benefits of RAE in patients with symptomatic severe proteinuria is limited. We decided to evaluate role of RAE in the setting of severe symptomatic nephrotic syndrome. Methods Eight patients who had undergone transcatheter renal artery embolization with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were included. Clinico‐demographic characteristics as well as baseline laboratory data including level of proteinuria, serum albumin, C‐reactive protein and LDL cholesterol levels were recorded for each patient. After RAE, outpatient clinic control laboratory values were also assessed. Findings All patients except one underwent bilateral RAE (four simultaneous or three sequential). Two patients experienced postembolization syndrome characterized by flank pain, fever, and leukocytosis, which was self‐limited and responded to analgesics in all patients. There was no technical complications associated with RAE procedure. All patients became anuric except one. Serum albumin levels increased and serum LDL‐cholesterol levels decreased considerably in treated patients. Discussion Renal artery embolization with the purpose of amelioration in nephrotic syndrome complications was effective and free of major technical complications in our patients.  相似文献

The incorporation of SO3? groups into a polypyrrole backbone was successfully carried out using FSO3H/acetonitrile medium. The degree of sulfonation (sulfonation or sulfur‐to‐nitrogen ratio) of polymer was controlled by varying FSO3H concentration while the film was being electrodeposited. The cyclic voltammograms of the electrodeposited films were taken between ?1.00 and +2.00 V (versus Ag/AgCl) in blank solution. A substantial effect on the electrical conductivity was observed upon the incorporation of SO3? groups in the polypyrrole polymeric chain. The elemental analysis results of the freshly prepared and reduced films give independent evidence that the SO3? groups are covalently bound to the structure. In this study, infrared treatment at different powers was used at drying stage of noodle production. Drying time was reduced to 3 min 30 s and 50% reduction in cooking time was obtained at the highest power. Lower cooking loss and total organic matter values, higher maximum force values were obtained for noodles dried by using infrared, indicating improved quality. Infrared treatment generally caused an increase in Rapid ViscoAnalyzer viscosity values of the noodles. Starch granules of the noodles dried by using infrared retained their birefringence to a large extent and increase in intensity of some peaks and formation of a new peak at 2θ = 20° (V-type diffraction pattern) were observed in X-ray diffraction patterns. Relative intensities of some protein bands in SDS-PAGE patterns decreased, total dietary fiber and enzyme resistant starch contents increased slightly. Starch digestibility (in vitro) values increased gradually as the infrared power applied increased.  相似文献

The adsorption of phenol onto chitin, a naturally occurring material was studied as a function of initial pH, temperature and initial phenol concentration. The highest phenol adsorption capacity was determined as 21.5 mgg(-1) for 300 mgdm(-3) initial phenol concentration at pH 1.0 and 40 degrees C. Adsorption data were well described by the Freundlich Model, although they could be modeled by the Langmuir equation. The pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models were applied to test the experimental data. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model provided the best correlation of the experimental data compared to the pseudo-first-order model. The thermodynamic constants of the adsorption process; DeltaG degrees , DeltaH degrees and DeltaS degrees were evaluated as -19.4 kJmol(-1) (at 40 degrees C), 10.2 kJmol(-1) and 0.093 kJmol(-1)K(-1), respectively. These showed that adsorption of phenol on chitin was endothermic and spontaneous.  相似文献

We studied simultaneously in serum (S) and CSF (L) the enzyme activities of GOT, GPT, LDH, ICDH, MDH, ALD, and CPK in 28 patients with head injuries divided into three groups according to the severity of the trauma. We found a correlation between severity of brain lesion and enzyme activity. The best correlation was found for SGOT, SCPK, LGOT, LLDH, LMDH and LCPK. We do not believe that enzyme activity is of prognostic value. We think that further studies should be made of the specific isoenzymes of the Central Nervous System.  相似文献

Diphenolases from two cherry laurel cultivars (Laurocerasus officinalis Roem. ‘Globigemmis’ and ‘Oxygemmis’) were highly active against 3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)propionic acid (DHPPA) at acidic pH values with temperature optima of 50 and 40 °C, respectively. Although the pH-stability profiles showed that both enzymes were fully stable at pH 7.0, their stabilities decreased significantly at alkaline pH values. Thermal-stabilities of the cherry laurel diphenolases indicated that enzymes from the two cultivars share similar thermodynamic properties and heat-sensitivities as a result of heat-inactivation. In addition, ascorbate and metabisulfite, at 1 mM final concentrations, almost completely inhibited the oxidation of DHPPA by the enzymes, indicating the sensitivities of the cherry laurel diphenolases from the two cultivars towards general Polyphenol oxidases inhibitors. It can be concluded that the crude enzymes prepared from the cherry laurel fruits of the two cultivars, at an early stage of development, possess diphenolase activities sharing similar behaviours.  相似文献

This study has been performed on continuous graphene oxide fiber produced by different production parameters which has very large potential application areas such as electronic/smart textiles, sensors, energy. In this study, three different graphene oxide dispersion preparation methods; namely, Modified Hummers, Modified Hummers on exfoliated graphite and Modified Hummers with plasma application; have been used to prepare coagulated continuous graphene oxide fibers. The effect of production parameters on properties of continuous graphene oxide fibers have been measured by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), X-Ray Photoelectron Microscopy (XPS), tensile tester, electrical conductivity device. It was observed that exfoliation process results with decrease of fiber Tex count, fiber surface roughness, oxygen functional groups and an increase of breaking strength and electrical conductivity, while plasma application results to an increase of surface roughness of fiber, oxygen functional groups and decrease of breaking strength of fiber.  相似文献
