Salt crystallisation is a very common and powerful weathering agent that can modify the petrophysical properties of building stone such as granite. In addition, the weathering can affect the susceptibility of the stone to biological colonisation. The aims of the present study were to examine the properties of a granite weathered by sodium chloride crystallisation and to evaluate the effects of the weathering on the secondary bioreceptivity of the stone to subaerial phototrophic biofilms. For this purpose, granite samples were subjected to a laboratory-based accelerated salt weathering test, and changes in weight, open porosity, bulk density, capillary water content, abrasion pH and surface roughness of the samples were determined. Samples of both weathered and non-weathered granite were then inoculated with a multi-species phototrophic culture derived from a natural subaerial biofilm and incubated under standardised laboratory conditions for 3 months. The weight loss produced by the weathering process was consistent with significant changes in abrasion pH and surface roughness. The bioreceptivity of the stone was also altered. According to the bioreceptivity index, the granite under study was characterised by ‘mild primary bioreceptivity’, but ‘high secondary bioreceptivity’ after the salt weathering process. Study of the secondary bioreceptivity of stone materials can provide very useful information about response to weathering effects, and the findings can be used to improve the selection of materials for building purposes. 相似文献

Controlling the outer surface of nanometric metal–organic frameworks (nanoMOFs) and further understanding the in vivo effect of the coated material are crucial for the convenient biomedical applications of MOFs. However, in most studies, the surface modification protocol is often associated with significant toxicity and/or lack of selectivity. As an alternative, how the highly selective and general grafting GraftFast method leads, through a green and simple process, to the successful attachment of multifunctional biopolymers (polyethylene glycol (PEG) and hyaluronic acid) on the external surface of nanoMOFs is reported. In particular, effectively PEGylated iron trimesate MIL‐100(Fe) nanoparticles (NPs) exhibit suitable grafting stability and superior chemical and colloidal stability in different biofluids, while conserving full porosity and allowing the adsorption of bioactive molecules (cosmetic and antitumor agents). Furthermore, the nature of the MOF–PEG interaction is deeply investigated using high‐resolution soft X‐ray spectroscopy. Finally, a cell penetration study using the radio‐labeled antitumor agent gemcitabine monophosphate (3H‐GMP)‐loaded MIL‐100(Fe)@PEG NPs shows reduced macrophage phagocytosis, confirming a significant in vitro PEG furtiveness. 相似文献

We deal with a multi-echelon inventory system in which one warehouse supplies an item to multiple retailers. Customer demand arrives at each retailer at a constant rate. The retailers replenish their inventories from the warehouse that in turn orders from an outside supplier. It is assumed that shortages are not allowed and lead times are negligible. The goal is to determine replenishment policies that minimize the overall cost in the system. We develop a heuristic to compute efficient policies, which also can easily be used in a spreadsheet application. The main idea consists of finding a balance between the replenishment and the inventory holding costs at each installation. This new heuristic we compare with two other approaches proposed in the literature; the computational studies show that in most of the instances generated the new method provides lower costs. 相似文献

Termination is one of the most interesting problems when dealing with context-sensitive rewrite systems. Although a good number of techniques for proving termination of context-sensitive rewriting (CSR) have been proposed so far, the adaptation to CSR of the dependency pair approach, one of the most powerful techniques for proving termination of rewriting, took some time and was possible only after introducing some new notions like collapsing dependency pairs, which are specific for CSR. In this paper, we develop the notion of context-sensitive dependency pair (CSDP) and show how to use CSDPs in proofs of termination of CSR. The implementation and practical use of the developed techniques yield a novel and powerful framework which improves the current state-of-the-art of methods for automatically proving termination of CSR. 相似文献

The pull-in time (tpi) of electrostatically actuated parallel-plate microstructures enables the realization of a high-sensitivity accelerometer that uses time measurement as the transduction mechanism. The key feature is the existence of a metastable region that dominates pull-in behavior, thus making pull-in time very sensitive to external accelerations. Parallel-plate MEMS structures have been designed and fabricated using a SOI micromachining process (SOIMUMPS) for the implementation of the accelerometer. This paper presents the experimental characterization of the microdevices, validating the concept and the analytical models used. The accelerometer has a measured sensitivity of 0.25 μs/μg and a bandwidth that is directly related to the pull-in time, BW = 1/2tpi ≈ 50 Hz. These specifications place this sensor between the state of the art accelerometers found both in the literature and commercially. More importantly, the resolution of the measurement method used is very high, making the mechanical-thermal noise the only factor limiting the resolution. The in-depth noise analysis to the system supports these conclusions. The total measured noise floor of 400 μg (100 μs) is mainly due to the contribution of the environmental noise, due to lack of isolation of the experimental setup from the building vibrations (estimated mechanical thermal noise of 2.8 μg/√Hz). The low requirements of the electronic readout circuit makes this an interesting approach for high-resolution accelerometers. 相似文献

In this work we used the sol-gel technique to develop luminescent Eu(III) transparent films deposited on glass slides to build for sensor devices capable of monitoring transition metal ions in aqueous solutions. The films were obtained from a bis(trialkoxysilyl) organic precursor synthesized from the amide of the 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (DPA) with aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) in the presence or absence of cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) surfactant as templating agent and triethylethoxysilane (TEOS) as crosslinker. These sensor devices were used to perform in situ quenching experiments by Cu(II), Fe(III), Co(II) and Ni(II) ions. The results indicate that the templated films allow the detection and quantification of these metals down to ppb levels by means of the values of the Stern-Volmer constants. In particular, it was shown that Cu(II) acts as an extremely efficient quencher (KSV = 3.5 × 105 M−1) when compared with the results obtained for the other metals, opening the possibility to use these devices as potential Cu(II) sensors for actual applications in aqueous media. 相似文献

Auctions have been used to deal with resource allocation in multiagent environments, especially in service‐oriented electronic markets. In this type of market, resources are perishable and auctions are repeated over time with the same or a very similar set of agents. In this scenario it is advisable to use recurrent auctions: a sequence of auctions of any kind where the result of one auction may influence the following one. Some problems do appear in these situations, as for instance, the bidder drop problem, the asymmetric balance of negotiation power or resource waste, which could cause the market to collapse. Fair mechanisms can be useful to minimize the effects of these problems. With this aim, we have analyzed four previous fair mechanisms under dynamic scenarios and we have proposed a new one that takes into account changes in the supply as well as the presence of alternative marketplaces. We experimentally show how the new mechanism presents a higher average performance under all simulated conditions, resulting in a higher profit for the auctioneer than with the previous ones, and in most cases avoiding the waste of resources. 相似文献

Chickpea flour (CF)‐based muffin formulations were made with CF alone and with added biopolymers [whey protein (WP), xanthan gum (XG) and inulin (INL)] to evaluate their suitability to be a wheat flour (WF) substitute in muffins. Structural characteristics of the batters and muffins were studied by means of rheometry, microscopy, physicochemical properties, and texture and sensory analysis. Partial replacement of CF with XG, alone (at 0.5 and 1%) or blended with either WP or INL, significantly increased the batter viscoelasticity as denser matrices developed; moreover, the muffins with XG added at 1% had similar hardness to wheat gluten muffins. The replacement of WF decreased the springiness, cohesiveness, chewiness, resilience and specific volume of the muffin. However, baked muffins with added XG also showed higher sensory sponginess and moisture associated with numerous air bubbles in the batter and were perceived to be easier to swallow and to have better general appearance. 相似文献

In this study, the chemical composition, total phenolic content and antioxidant activity (DPPH, ORAC and FRAP assays) of A. subrufescens and P. ostreatus, cultivated with handmade and commercials supplements, were compared. Additionally, the compounds ergosterol, saccharopine, and hexitol were identified in A. subrufescens by HPLC-MS/MS. The antioxidant compound p-coumaric acid and dihexoses was found in both mushroom species. A. subrufescens presented higher total phenolic content (73.8 ± 0.6 mg GAE 100 g−1) and antioxidant activity than P. ostreatus (16.6 ± 0.5 mg GAE 100 g−1). The handmade supplement based on the waste of noble grains presented statistically similar phenolic content to the mushrooms cultivated with commercial ones Spawn Mate II SE (86.1 ± 1.4 and 92.9 ± 0.3 mg GAE 100 g−1, respectively). Therefore, the results support the use of handmade supplements based on agro-wastes as a viable alternative to the use of high-cost commercial ones. 相似文献
