A composite material polyaniline-Zr(IV) phosphoborate (PZPB) was synthesized via sol-gel method by the combination of Zr(IV) phosphoborate and polyaniline. The PZPB composite material was characterized by various analytical techniques. The PZPB composite material was found to be selective for Hg2++ metal ion due to the high distribution coefficient values for Hg2++ metal ion in all mediums. The PZPB composite material was used for Hg2++ removal under different experimental conditions. The antibacterial activity of PZPB composite material was also studied against E. coli. 相似文献

A total of 125 (ready to eat) processed food samples (70 intended for infant and 55 for adult intake) belonging to 20 different food categories were analyzed for aflatoxins contamination using Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatography (RP-HPLC) with fluorescent detection. A solvent mixture of acetonitrile-water was used for the extraction followed by immunoaffinity clean-up to enhance sensitivity of the method. The limit of detection (LOD) (0.01-0.02 ng·g(-1)) and limit of quantification (LOQ) (0.02 ng·g(-1)) was established for aflatoxins based on signal to noise ratio of 3:1 and 10:1, respectively. Of the processed food samples tested, 38% were contaminated with four types of aflatoxins, i.e., AFB1 (0.02-1.24 μg·kg(-1)), AFB2 (0.02-0.37 μg·kg(-1)), AFG1 (0.25-2.7 μg·kg(-1)) and AFG2 (0.21-1.3 μg·kg(-1)). In addition, the results showed that 21% of the processed foods intended for infants contained AFB1 levels higher than the European Union permissible limits (0.1 μg·kg(-1)), while all of those intended for adult consumption had aflatoxin contamination levels within the permitted limits. 相似文献

Bone regeneration is driven by mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) via their interactions with immune cells, such as macrophages (MPs). Bone substitutes, e.g., bi-calcium phosphates (BCPs), are commonly used to treat bone defects. However, little research has focused on MSC responses to BCPs in the context of inflammation. The objective of this study was to investigate whether BCPs influence MSC responses and MSC–MP interactions, at the gene and protein levels, in an inflammatory microenvironment. In setup A, human bone marrow MSCs combined with two different BCP granules (BCP 60/40 or BCP 20/80) were cultured with or without cytokine stimulation (IL1β + TNFα) to mimic acute inflammation. In setup B, U937 cell-line-derived MPs were introduced via transwell cocultures to setup A. Monolayer MSCs with and without cytokine stimulation served as controls. After 72 h, the expressions of genes related to osteogenesis, healing, inflammation and remodeling were assessed in the MSCs via quantitative polymerase chain reactions. Additionally, MSC-secreted cytokines related to healing, inflammation and chemotaxis were assessed via multiplex immunoassays. Overall, the results indicate that, under both inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions, the BCP granules significantly regulated the MSC gene expressions towards a pro-healing genotype but had relatively little effect on the MSC secretory profiles. In the presence of the MPs (coculture), the BCPs positively regulated both the gene expression and cytokine secretion of the MSCs. Overall, similar trends in MSC responses were observed with BCP 60/40 and BCP 20/80. In summary, within the limits of in vitro models, these findings suggest that the presence of BCP granules at a surgical site may not necessarily have a detrimental effect on MSC-mediated wound healing, even in the event of inflammation. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to explore the potential of fluorescence spectroscopy to determine the quality of yoghurt ice cream, prepared by adding different concentrations of yoghurt (10, 20, 30, 40, 50%). The addition of 50% of yoghurt showed the lowest pH and meltdown values, whereas the highest acidity and overrun rates were observed at the same concentration. Additionally, fluorescence spectra taken at varied emission and excitation ranges were preprocessed for baseline correction. The partial least square regression analysis on proposed excitation wavelengths (270 nm, 280 nm, 290 nm and 315 nm) showed effective prediction of various quality parameters of yoghurt ice cream. 相似文献

Bioactive polyphenols, cartenoids, and anthocyanins present in fruits and vegetables are receiving much attention because of their potential antioxidant activity. This study was conducted to determine antioxidant activity of leaves, peels, stem bark, and kernel of mango varieties langra and chonsa. Total phenolic (TPC) and total flavonoid contents (TFCs) in segments of langra ranged from 63.89 to 116.80 mg GAE/g DW and 45.56 to 90.89 mg CE/g DW, respectively, and that of chonsa were 69.24 to 122.60 mg GAE/g DW and 48.43 to 92.55 mg CE/g DW, respectively. The 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity and linoleic inhibition capacity in segments of langra ranged from 53.30% to 61.10% and 40.0% to 47.20%, respectively, whereas for chonsa; 56.40% to 66.0% and 48.1% to 49.0%, respectively. The reducing potentials of different segments of langra and chonsa at concentration of 10 mg/mL were 0.512 to 0.850 and 0.595 to 0.665 mV, respectively. Comparison between both varieties showed chonsa exhibited better antioxidant activity. Highly efficient Eu-TiO2/graphene composites were synthesized by a two-step method such as sol-gel and hydrothermal process. The synthesized photocatalysts were characterized by XRD, TEM, XPS, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The results confirmed that anatase Eu-TiO2 nanoparticles with average 10 nm sizes were successfully deposited on two-dimensional graphene sheets. The UV–visible spectroscopy showed a red shift in the absorption edge of TiO2 due to Eu doping and graphene incorporation. Moreover, effective charge separation in Eu-TiO2/graphene composites was confirmed by PL emission spectroscopy compared to TiO2/graphene, Eu-TiO2 and pure TiO2. The photocatalytic activity for H2 evolution over prepared composites was studied under visible light irradiation (λ ≥ 400 nm). The results demonstrate that photocatalytic performance of the photocatalysts for hydrogen production increases with increasing doping concentration of Eu upto 2 at%. However, further increase in doping content above this optimum level has decreased the performance of photocatalyst. The enhanced photocatalytic performance for H2 evolution is attributed to extended visible light absorption, suppressed recombination of electron-hole pairs due to synergistic effects of Eu and graphene. 相似文献

Nanotechnology is one of the advance technologies that almost found implications in every field of science. The importance is due to the unique properties of nanoparticles. In this study, bimetallic alloys of copper (Cu) and gold (Au) were tested in submerge root cultures of Stevia rebaudiana for production of biomass and secondary metabolites. A known amount of inoculum roots were submerged in liquid Murashige and Skoog medium containing combination of naphthalene acetic acid (NAA; 0.5 mg l−1) and different ratios of nanoparticles (NPs). NAA augmented medium was used as control. The addition of nanoparticles (30 µg l−1) stimulated biomass accumulation (1.447 g/flask) on 27th day of log phases. The maximum total phenolics content (TPC; 16.17 mg/g‐DW) and total flavonoids content (TFC; 4.20 mg/g‐DW) were displayed using AuCu‐NPs (1:3) and NAA. The same combinations enhanced total phenolic production (TPP; 116 mg/L) and total flavonoid production (TFP; 29.5 mg/L) in submerged cultures. A strong correlation was observed between phenolics, flavonoids and dry biomass. Moreover, maximum 1, 1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) activity of 79% was displayed by addition of AuCu (1:3) nanoparticles.
