Expansion behaviour for a bed of binary mixture of the irregularly shaped particle in Newtonian liquid was measured in two different circular columns. Variations in the physical parameters on the expansion behaviour have been reported. Bed expansion increases with an increase in liquid velocity and a decrease in particle diameter. Static bed height and expansion of the bed are low for higher diameter columns. An empirical correlation has been developed for predicting the ratio of bed height at the fluidized condition to the initial bed height as a function of the physical and dynamic variables related to the system for the binary particle mixtures. The correlation coefficient and variance of the estimate are 0.9299 and 0.0013, respectively, which is acceptable statistical accuracy. A hybrid of the genetic algorithm and neural network modelling for the prediction of the same has also been attempted where the input parameters are optimized using the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm. With a relative error of 1.46%, the genetic algorithm performed well. So, the modelling has successfully predicted the bed height ratio at fluidized conditions to the initial bed height.  相似文献

The present paper outlines the characterization, electrokinetic behaviour, and flotation response of rejected coking coal fines with 32.5% ash generated in a coal washery in Eastern India. The response methodology and central composite rotatable design (RSM-CCRD) were used for the process modelling and optimization of the flotation process using diesel, methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC), and sodium hexametaphosphate as a collector, frother, and depressant to maximize ash reduction, yield, and combustible recovery. At optimum condition, a 9.7% clean ash coal was achieved with a 63% yield at collector, frother, and depressant dosages of 0.78, 0.31, and 0.80 kg/ton, respectively. The model prediction and experimental data corroborated sufficiently. Subsequently, within 1 year, the fines oxidized and did not float with the collector. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed surface oxidation on oxidized coal. The oxidized coal responded favourably to acid oil, a vegetable oil refinery waste. With acid oil as a collector, the oxidized coal can upgrade to 12% clean ash coal with a 60% yield; the combustible recovered is 80%. The work indicates successful upgradation of fresh and oxidized coal using the froth flotation process.  相似文献

Patients with end-stage renal disease require to establish vascular access for regular hemodialysis. The creation of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is usually a safe procedure; however, there could be complications such as bleeding, hematoma, pseudoaneurysm, thrombosis, infection, and steal syndrome. A rare complication of such vascular manipulation could be formation of lymphocele. We present a case of a 67-year-old man who presented with a progressively enlarging mass 12 days after the surgery for AVF creation at the site of surgery in the right upper arm. Ultrasonographic examination revealed a fluid-filled cystic structure measuring about 4.2 × 3.6 × 1.9 cm under the skin just above the anastomosis. The fluid was aspirated using ultrasound-guided fluoroscopy that relieved the swelling. The analysis of aspirate suggested the cyst to be a lymphocele. The mass re-enlarged to its previous size in the next 3 days. While under observation for signs of complication, regular intermittent compression and a low-fat diet completely resolved the lymphocele over the subsequent 3 months. The less common occurrence of such lymphocele post AVF creation needs to be evaluated for its potential for complication, in the absence of which the lymphocele is amenable to conservative management using regular intermittent compression and low-fat oral diet.  相似文献
