To predict the response of polyethylene thin films subjected to stress for a long time, it is necessary to understand the influence of stress on either the relaxation modulus or creep compliance. Extensive testing has been conducted on 20-micron-thick samples of a particular linear low-density polyethylene film at temperatures from 23°C to −50°C. When reduced to creep compliance and compared with results from dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), the influence of nonlinearities in the response function is apparent. However, the use of a two-step loading procedure has produced sufficient data to discriminate between the effect of stress on amplitude and time on the creep compliance. It has been found that a master curve of compliance generated by DMA equipment may be used in conjunction with certain nonlinear functions to accurately predict the response of the polyethylene. Perhaps of more importance is the observation that the principles of simple time-temperature superposition, commonly used with linear viscoelastic characterization, are insufficient for use with polyethylene films at most stress levels of interest.  相似文献

CD26 has been reported as a marker for colorectal cancer stem cells endowed with tumor-initiating properties and capable of colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis. In this study, we investigated the functional effect of CD26 on CRC angiogenesis and metastasis, and the potential underlying mechanism. The functional effects of CD26 overexpression or repression were determined by a wound healing experiment, and cell migration and invasion assays in vitro and in mouse models. Differentially expressed genes regulated by CD26 were identified by genome-wide mRNA expression array and validated by quantitative PCR. CD26 functionally regulated CRC cell migration and invasion in vitro and angiogenesis and metastasis in vivo. Genome-wide mRNA expression array and qPCR showed that MMP1 was up-regulated in CD26+ subpopulation, and a subsequent experiment demonstrated the regulatory effect of CD26 on MMP1 in CRC cell lines with CD26 repression or overexpression. Furthermore, overexpression of CAV1 abrogated the CD26-regulated MMP1 induction in CRC cell lines. This study demonstrated the functional roles of CD26 in inducing CRC migration, invasion, angiogenesis and metastasis and identified the potential involvement of MMP1 and CAV1 in such process. CD26 is an attractive therapeutic target for combating tumor progression to improve the prognosis of CRC patients.  相似文献

Nanocomposite polymer films are prepared by using ultrasonic spray deposition (USD) technique through mixing polymethyl methacrylate as matrix and fumed silica nanoparticles as second phase in dimethyl carbonate solvent. Annealing procedure improves the film uniformity and optical transmission. The addition of fumed silica nanoparticles impedes the transmission of the electrolyte films due to agglomeration of fumed silica nanoparticles. Fortunately, adding surfactant, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, disperses the fumed silica nanoparticles and retrieves the optical transmission of nanocomposite polymer films to around 90%. The hardness and elastic modulus of the nanocomposite polymer films are better than the commercial bulk. The USD deposited nanocomposite polymer film comprises of PMMA and fumed silica nanoparticles is a promising candidate of solid-state electrolyte for EC windows application. POLYM. ENG. Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) were isolated from aVibrio species of bacterium, known to produce eicosapentaenoic acid (20∶5n−3) andtrans-hexadecenoic acid (16∶1n−7), and subjected to phospholipase A2 degradation to determine the positional distribution of component fatty acids. At the two growth temperatures studied (20 and 5°C), both 20∶5n−3 andtrans 16∶1 n−7 were located mainly at positionsn−2 in PE. Increases in the proportions of 20∶5n−3 andtrans 16∶1n−7 in positionsn−2 with decreasing growth temperature were balanced mainly by decreases in the level ofiso-15∶0. In PG,trans 16∶1n−7 was located predominantly in positionsn-1, although the difference between the two positions was not as great as in PE. Eicosapentaenoic acid was preferentially located in positionsn-2 of PG, particularly at 5°C when it comprised 29.9% of the total fatty acids in this position. It is concluded thattrans 16∶1n−7/20∶5n−3 is not a major molecular species of phospholipid in this species ofVibrio and that changes in the levels of molecular species of PE containingiso-15∶0 may feature in thermal acclimation.  相似文献

1H wideline and 13C magic‐angle spinning NMR have been used to study the morphology and dynamics of latex‐cast and solution‐cast film blends of natural rubber (NR) and a polyurethane (PU) based on poly(?‐caprolactone) diol and isophorone di‐isocyanate. 1H T1 and T relaxation times have been measured, and the extent of interpenetration of the NR and PU constituents has been monitored using the Goldman–Shen technique. The NMR spectra and relaxation properties indicated that the NR and PI constituents largely occupy separated domains on a distance scale of >10 nm. The Goldman–Shen experiments indicated that there was slightly greater contact between NR and PU in the solution‐cast samples than in the latex‐cast. The tensile properties of the films have been measured. The tensile strength and initial Young's modulus pass through a maximum at a PU content of about 50 wt%. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The transfer of photoenergized electrons from extracellular photosensitizers across a bacterial cell envelope to drive intracellular chemical transformations represents an attractive way to harness nature's catalytic machinery for solar‐assisted chemical synthesis. In Shewanella oneidensis MR‐1 (MR‐1), trans‐outer‐membrane electron transfer is performed by the extracellular cytochromes MtrC and OmcA acting together with the outer‐membrane‐spanning porin ? cytochrome complex (MtrAB). Here we demonstrate photoreduction of solutions of MtrC, OmcA, and the MtrCAB complex by soluble photosensitizers: namely, eosin Y, fluorescein, proflavine, flavin, and adenine dinucleotide, as well as by riboflavin and flavin mononucleotide, two compounds secreted by MR‐1. We show photoreduction of MtrC and OmcA adsorbed on RuII‐dye‐sensitized TiO2 nanoparticles and that these protein‐coated particles perform photocatalytic reduction of solutions of MtrC, OmcA, and MtrCAB. These findings provide a framework for informed development of strategies for using the outer‐membrane‐associated cytochromes of MR‐1 for solar‐driven microbial synthesis in natural and engineered bacteria.  相似文献
