Protein‐based analogues of conventional thermoplastic elastomers can be designed with enhanced properties as a consequence of the precise control of primary structure. Protein 1 undergoes a reversible sol–gel transition, which results in the formation of a well‐defined elastomeric network above a lower critical solution temperature. The morphology of the network is consistent with selective microscopic phase separation of the endblock domains. This genetic engineering approach provides a method for specification of the critical architectural parameters, such as block length and sequence, which define macromolecular properties that are important for downstream applications.  相似文献

The ATM Forum is a key body which has been developing specifications for asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) technology over the past six years. It has produced a number of signalling specifications covering the user network interface, the inter-carrier interface and private networking environments. While work continues on 'fine-tuning' these agreements, there is still discussion about how they are used in large scale networks, and in particular on the interworking of public and private network environments.This paper reviews the current status of the relevant protocols and their scope. It then explores the issues related to their interworking and discusses the role of the proposed ATM internetwork interface (AINI) as an alternative internetwork or inter-carrier interface to its broadband intercarrier interface (B-ICI).  相似文献

Practical electrosynthesis of cuprous oxide powder was carried out on a laboratory scale in a cell specially constructed both with and without a diaphragm under the various operating conditions guided by the authors' previous research. The electrolysis was appraised in terms of the quality of the cuprous oxide product, the electrodissolution of the copper anode, and the SEM microstructure of the cuprous oxide powder. In a cell having a diaphragm, of which nylon fabric is the best, the optimal electrolysis operating conditions are: 250gl–1 NaCl, 0.1–1.0gl–1 NaOH, 500–1500Am–2, 80°C, perforated titanium sheet as the cathode, and around 3% cell volume of electrolyte circulation per minute. Under these conditions a product containing more than 97% cuprous oxide can easily be produced with very stable electrolysis and quite uniform dissolution of the copper anode. To eliminate the use of a diaphragm in the cell, the addition of sodium chromate, sodium dichromate, or calcium gluconate is effective in a sense, depending upon the requirements of the cuprous oxide product. For a product in which more than 95% cuprous oxide and no copper powder are required but a slightly higher content of chloride is allowable, sodium chromate and dichromate can be proposed for use with the former around 0.03–0.05gl–1 and the latter around 0.020–0.025gl–1, although the copper anode will not be perfectly evenly dissolved. For a product in which more than 97% cuprous oxide is demanded and a very small amount of copper powder is tolerated, calcium gluconate would be acceptable at around 4.5gl–1 with quite even dissolution of the copper anode. As to the auxiliary additives, hydrazine hydrate has a negative effect on the quality of the cuprous oxide product. Sucrose can cause a small increase in the chloride content but can make the particles of cuprous oxide more compact thereby increasing sharply its apparent density. Hydroxylamine hydrochloride is the best auxiliary additive which has a positive effect on the purity of the cuprous oxide product but produces no obvious change in the microstructure on the cuprous oxide particles. Even though most work has been concentrated on the electrolytic process, the subsequent processes are equally important: 65–70°C, distilled water for washing, benzotriazole in ethanol solution for stabilization of the cuprous oxide, and 100°C at a vacuum of less than 20mm Hg for drying seem to be satisfactory. A vacuum drying temperature of 55–60°C may be more appropriate to ensure against any oxidation of the product.  相似文献

An Yb-doped fibre laser with a helical core trajectory in the cladding material has been demonstrated for the first time. The laser yields 350 mW of linearly-polarised, single-spatial-mode output at 1047 nm from a multimode core of diameter, 26 /spl mu/m, and numerical aperture, 0.14, when core-pumped by an Yb:YAG laser at 1030 nm.  相似文献

Deposition of carotenoids in saponified paprika (SP) and unsaponified oleoresin paprika (OP) in egg yolks as well as the dietary level for desired pigmentation were evaluated. Sixty-four hens on a carotenoid-depletion diet were divided into two replicated groups of each of eight dietary treatments containing from 0 to 16 mg paprika carotenoids per kg feed. Colour and the carotenoid content of egg yolk increased linearly ( P< 0·01) with the amounts of paprika carotenoids in the diets. The colours of egg yolks from hens fed similar concentra-tions of OP or SP were not significantly different ( P< 0·01). A low dose (4 mg kg−1) of OP or SP provided yolk colour equivalent to the colour of eggs in supermarkets. High-performance liquid chromatographic analyses showed that carotenoids deposited in the yolk are in the free alcohol form, regardless of the form of carotenoids in the diet. Capsanthin, the predominant carotenoid in paprika, was deposited in egg yolk less efficiently than zeaxanthin and lutein.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the impact of bovine leukocyte adhesion deficiency on clinical mastitis incidence, severity, and duration in Holstein cows. Genomic DNA from milk of 847 Holstein cows in six Pennsylvania herds was used to determine bovine leukocyte adhesion deficiency genotypes (82 or 9.7% carriers). Data on clinical mastitis incidence, severity, duration, and pathogen involved were collected during first lactation for the project cows. One hundred ninety-four cows had one or more clinical mastitis episodes; milk samples from each quarter with clinical mastitis were collected at discovery of the episode and were cultured following National Mastitis Council recommendations. The overall incidence of clinical mastitis was significantly affected by sire and herd-year-season of calving. In addition, incidence of clinical mastitis tended to increase with age at first calving. Severity and duration of clinical mastitis were impacted by the pathogen involved. Incidence of clinical mastitis from all pathogens, from coagulase-negative staphylococci, and from coliform bacteria was not significantly related to bovine leukocyte adhesion deficiency status. Carriers tended to have lower rates of mastitis from streptococci other than Streptococcus agalactiae when compared with noncarriers, but this result should be interpreted with caution because of the low frequency of mastitis from the streptococci. Bovine leukocyte adhesion deficiency status was unrelated to severity or duration of clinical episodes. Bovine leukocyte adhesion deficiency carriers are probably similar to noncarriers in resistance to clinical mastitis.  相似文献

A macropipelined CISC microprocessor was implemented in a 0.75-μm CMOS 3.3-V technology. The 1.3-million-transistor custom chip measures 1.62×1.46 cm2 and dissipates 16.3 W. The 100-MHz parts were benchmarked at 50 SPEC marks. The on-chip clocking system and several high-performance logic and circuit techniques are described. Macroinstruction handling, micropipeline management, and control store structures highlight the design architecture. The hierarchical array organization and fast tag comparison technique of the primary cache are discussed. Power estimation procedures are outlined, and the results are compared to measurements. Physical design and verification methods, and CAD tools are also described. After extensive functional verification efforts are described, chip and system test results are presented  相似文献

Multiferroic materials have driven significant research interest due to their promising technological potential. Developing new room‐temperature multiferroics and understanding their fundamental properties are important to reveal unanticipated physical phenomena and potential applications. Here, a new room temperature multiferroic nanocomposite comprised of an ordered ferrimagnetic spinel α‐LiFe5O8 (LFO) and a ferroelectric perovskite BiFeO3 (BFO) is presented. It is observed that lithium (Li)‐doping in BFO favors the formation of LFO spinel as a secondary phase during the synthesis of LixBi1?xFeO3 ceramics. Multimodal functional and chemical imaging methods are used to map the relationship between doping‐induced phase separation and local ferroic properties in both the BFO‐LFO composite ceramics and self‐assembled nanocomposite thin films. The energetics of phase separation in Li doped BFO and the formation of BFO‐LFO composites are supported by first principles calculations. These findings shed light on Li's role in the formation of a functionally important room temperature multiferroic and open a new approach in the synthesis of light element doped nanocomposites for future energy, sensing, and memory applications.  相似文献

Time-dependent-dielectric-breakdown (TDDB) measurements are reported on n-type 6H-SiC MOS capacitors formed by thermal oxidation. Failure distributions are obtained at 145, 240, and 305°C, and intrinsic mean-time-to-failure (MTTF) is plotted as a function of oxide field at each temperature. The results indicate that oxide reliability will not be a significant limitation to MOS-based power switching devices at temperatures up to 150°C. However, long-term operation of SiC MOS devices at temperatures higher than 250°C may not be practical  相似文献

Transmission edge filters for power equalization of EDFA's   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We propose and demonstrate the use of transmission edge filters based on apodized linearly chirped fiber Bragg gratings for providing power equalization among different wavelength channels in an erbium-doped fiber amplifier module. The filters we fabricated provide a dynamic range of ≈13 dB, an amplitude variation of ±0.5 dB from an ideal linear edge, and negligible group delay in transmission. Using the grating filters, we demonstrate power equalization, with no observed variation in signal levels after compensation, for three WDM signals having >6-dB difference in power levels before amplification. Our technique can also be extended to provide active power equalization by incorporating a feedback loop  相似文献
