Textural evolution in electrodeposits is strongly affected by foreign species in the electrolyte and also by the co-deposition of hydrogen. The effects of foreign species on textural development in electrodeposits were studied by employing a Monte Carlo model. This model is based on physical principles and incorporates parameters which are used to control electrodeposition processes. An attempt was made in the simulation to reflect the basic process of the deposit growth, and to identify the factors responsible for the texture formation and its variation with the deposition condition. It is assumed that the texture of the deposit results from the minimization of the free energy of the system. Based on this assumption, it was demonstrated that the surface-energy anisotropy played an important role in the formation of fibre texture. In particular, the model can be used to simulate textural evolution under the influence of adsorbed foreign species, because the surface-energy anisotropy is modified by the adsorbed foreign species. Part I of the paper presents results of our studies on iron electrodeposition with the emphasis on the effect of hydrogen adsorption on iron deposit texture. Relevant experimental results have also been presented to corroborate the simulation study. Part II of the paper presents simulation studies of textural evolution in copper deposits under the influence of adsorbed potassium and chloride ions. Double-crystal x-ray rocking curve (DCRC) and secondary-ion mass-spectroscopy (SIMS) measurements have been performed to investigate the effect of rapid thermal annealing on the interdiffusion behavior of Hg in HgTe/CdTe superlattices grown on Cd0.96Zn0.04Te (211)B substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. The sharp satellite peaks of the DCRC measurements on a 100-period HgTe/CdTe (100Å/100Å) superlattice show a periodic arrangement of the superlattice with high-quality interfaces. The negative direction of the entropy change obtained from the diffusion coefficients as a function of the reciprocal of the temperature after RTA indicates that the Hg diffusion for the annealed HgTe/CdTe superlattice is caused by an interstitial mechanism. The Cd and the Hg concentration profiles near the annealed HgTe/CdTe superlattice interfaces, as measured by SIMS, show a nonlinear behavior for Hg, originating from the interstitial diffusion mechanism of the Hg composition. These results indicate that a nonlinear interdiffusion behavior is dominant for HgTe/CdTe superlattices annealed at 190°C and that the rectangular shape of HgTe/CdTe superlattices may change to a parabolic shape because of the intermixing of Hg and Cd due to the thermal treatment.  相似文献

An "Occam algorithm" learning model maintains a tentative hypothesis consistent with past observations and, when a new observation is inconsistent with the current hypothesis, updates to the next-simplest hypothesis consistent with all observations. In previous work, observations were assumed to be stochastically independent. This paper initiates study of such models under weaker Markovian assumptions on the observations, In the special case where the sequence of hypotheses satisfies a monotonicity condition, it is shown that the number of mistakes in classifying the first t observations is O(√t log 1/πi), where πi is the stationary probability of the initial state, i, of the Markov chain.  相似文献

A model for the calculation of the current-voltage characteristics of strained In0.52Al0.48As/InxGa1-xAs on InP substrate High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMT's), based on a variational charge control model, is presented. A polynomial fit of the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) density is used for the calculation of the current-voltage characteristics. The effect of strain is introduced into the 2DEG density versus gate voltage relation. Very good agreement between the calculated and measured I-V characteristics was obtained. In addition, our results show that, for an indium mole fraction of the InxGa1-xAs channel in the range 0.53-0.60, increasing the indium mole fraction lowers the threshold voltage and hence increases the drain current at the same gate bias  相似文献

Recommendations resulting from a JCAHO survey can be a true blessing as they force nursing departments to assess critically their professional practice and documentation systems. Systematic preparation, begun at least two years prior to the survey, includes Nursing Administration, a Nursing Documentation Task Force and all staff nurses. Educational consultants assigned to each unit bring nurses up-to-date on nursing process and nursing diagnosis. PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of mitomycin C to an accelerated hyperfractionated radiation therapy. The aim was to test a very short schedule with/without mitomycin C (MMC) with conventional fractionation in histologically verified squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck region. METHODS AND MATERIALS: From October 1990 to December 1996, 188 patients entered the trial. Tumors originated in the oral cavity in 54, oropharynx in 82, larynx in 20, and hypopharynx in 32 cases, respectively. Patients' stages were predominantly T3 and T4 (158/188, 84%) and most patients had lymph node metastases (144/188, 77%) at diagnosis. Only 22 patients were female, 166 were male, the median age of patients was 57 years (range 34 to 76 years). Patients were randomized to one of the following three treatment options: conventional fractionation (CF) consisting of 70 Gy in 35 fractions over 7 weeks (65 patients) or continuous hyperfractionated accelerated radiation therapy (V-CHART; 62 patients) or continuous hyperfractionated accelerated radiation therapy with 20 mg/sqm MMC on day 5 (V-CHART + MMC; 61 patients). By the accelerated regimens, the total dose of 55.3 Gy was delivered within 17 consecutive days, by 33 fractions. On day 1, a single dose of 2.5 Gy was given, from day 2 to 17 a dose of 1.65 Gy was delivered twice: the interfraction interval was 6 hours or more. RESULTS: Mucositis was very intense after accelerated therapy, most patients experiencing a grade III/IV reaction. The mucosal reaction did not differ whether MMC was administered or not. Patients treated by accelerated fractionation experienced a confluent mucosal reaction 12-14 days following start of therapy and recovered (no reaction) within 6 weeks. The skin reaction was not considered different in the three treatment groups. Those patients treated with additional chemotherapy experienced a grade III/IV hematologic toxicity in 12/61 patients. Initial complete response (CR) was recorded in 43% following CF, 58% after V-CHART, and 67% after V-CHART + MMC, respectively (p < 0.05). Actuarial survival (Kaplan-Meier) was significantly improved in the combined treated patients. Local tumor control was 28%, 32%, and 56% following CF, V-CHART, and V-CHART + MMC, respectively (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: We conclude that our continuous hyperfractionated accelerated radiation therapy regimen is equal to conventional fractionation, suggesting that by shortening the overall treatment time from 7 weeks to 17 days a reduction in dose from 70 Gy to 55.3 Gy is possible, with maintenance of local tumor control rates. The administration of MMC to the accelerated regimen is tolerable and improves the outcome for patients significantly.  相似文献

Tested the hypothesis that Ss with severe mental illnesses would achieve better vocational outcomes with an accelerated approach to supported employment (AASE), as compared to gradual approaches (GA) with prevocational training. 86 Ss (mean age 35.1 yrs) with a diagnosis of a serious mental illness, were randomly assigned to either the AASE, or the GA, which included a minimum of 4 mo prevocational training. Data were obtained on indicators of vocational outcomes over 2 yrs, and for a limited number of Ss (n=36), during the 4th yr of inception into the program. Initially, only 5% of Ss preferred prevocational training. After 1 yr, AASE Ss showed better outcomes for a range of indicators, including achievement of competitive employment, duration of employment and mean earnings. During the 4th yr, 59% of these Ss were competitively employed, as compared to only 6% of GA Ss. Rehabilitation is more effective using AASE than GA. A rare case of hepatoblastoma in a 61-year-old Japanese housewife is described. This liver tumor mainly consisted of two tissue components: embryonal hepatocytes and primitive mesenchymal tissue. Fetal hepatocytes with alpha-fetoprotein production, gland formation, cartilage and osteoid were also found in a small portion. Molecular analysis by slot blot method revealed increased copy numbers of c-met and K-sam proto-oncogenes and cyclin D1 genes. These findings suggest that alterations of these oncogenes might play a role in the development of adult hepatoblastoma.  相似文献
