SequenceL is a language intended for experimentation with declarative constructs for nonscalar processing. In SequenceL, a problem solver provides little in the way of iterative/recursive details in a problem solution. Instead, the problem solver describes the solution directly by specifying, via a metastructure, the data structures which will hold results useful for solving the problem. This paper describes a program of experiments conducted over the advanced communications technology satellite (ACTS) and the associated T1-VSAT (very small aperture terminal). The experiments were motivated by the commercial potential of low-cost receive-only satellite terminals that can operate in a hybrid network environment, and by the desire to demonstrate frame relay technology over satellite networks. The first experiment tested highly adaptive methods of satellite bandwidth allocation in an integrated voice–data service environment. The second involved comparison of forward error correction (FEC) and automatic-repeat-request (ARQ) methods of error control for satellite communication with emphasis on the advantage that a hybrid architecture provides, especially in the case of multicasts. Finally, the third experiment demonstrated hybrid access to databases and compared the performance of internetworking protocols for interconnecting local area networks (LANs) via satellite. A custom unit termed frame relay access switch (FRACS) was developed by COMSAT Laboratories for these experiments; the preparation and conduct of these experiments involved a total of 20 people from the University of Maryland, the University of Colorado and COMSAT Laboratories, from late 1992 until 1995. 相似文献

Rice bran was extruded at 110, 120, 130, and 140°C with post extrusion holding times of 0, 3, and 6 min and stored at ambient temperatures for 1 yr. Holding time had no effect (p>0.05) on hydrolytic stability whereas 110°C was slightly less effective in maintaining hydrolytic stability. Increased holding times reduced (p<0.05) total vitamin E content. Oryzanol concentration was lower (p<0.05) only after 6 min holding time. Oryzanol was relatively more stable to extrusion temperatures than vitamin E. The highest retentions of total vitamin E and oryzanol were found in raw rice bran during storage. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of protein modification by Maillard reactions on the functionality of rennet caseins. The extent of Maillard reactions in rennet caseins was determined by measuring furosine levels by a high-performance liquid chromatography method following acid hydrolysis of the casein. An approximately 20-fold range in furosine levels in commercially produced rennet caseins was observed. High furosine levels correlated significantly with increased time taken to reach maximum viscosity index and with decreased maximum viscosity index when the rennet caseins were dispersed in a solution of calcium-sequestering salt, which suggests that modification of casein by Maillard reaction contributes to the variability in the hydration behaviour of the rennet caseins. 相似文献

Mixtures of magnesia and silicic acid ranging in composition from 0.5 to 2.0 M/S were treated hydrothermally at temperatures of 75° to 350°C. for various periods of time. The reaction solids were examined by differential thermal analysis, X ray, and electron microscopy and analyzed chemically. The intermediate products of reaction ranging in composition between that of talc (0.75 M/S) and chrysotile (1.5 M/S) comprised a continuous series of cryptocrystalline needle-like crystaIs matted tightly together and showing the same X-ray pattern. The initial reaction product of the 0.75 to 1.50 M/S raw mixtures was a cryptocrystalline solid having a 1.5 M/S ratio. This phase subsequently reacted with the residual silica, so long as any was available, to form a solid having the composition of the raw mix, but only at relatively moderate temperatures(100°to175°C.). As the temperature was increased the crystals of the 0.75 and 1.50 M/S compositions increased in size, but all remained submicroscopic. The compositions intermediate between 0.75 and 1.5 M/S crystallized as mixtures of talc and chrysotilelike products.
