A backpropagation learning algorithm for feedforward neural networks withan adaptive learning rate is derived. The algorithm is based uponminimising the instantaneous output error and does not include anysimplifications encountered in the corresponding Least Mean Square (LMS)algorithms for linear adaptive filters. The backpropagation algorithmwith an adaptive learning rate, which is derived based upon the Taylorseries expansion of the instantaneous output error, is shown to exhibitbehaviour similar to that of the Normalised LMS (NLMS) algorithm. Indeed,the derived optimal adaptive learning rate of a neural network trainedby backpropagation degenerates to the learning rate of the NLMS for a linear activation function of a neuron. By continuity, the optimal adaptive learning rate for neural networks imposes additional stabilisationeffects to the traditional backpropagation learning algorithm. 相似文献

Designing software involves good perception, good reasoning, and a talent to express oneself effectively through programming and interactive languages. Semiotic theories can help HCI designers increase their power to perceive, reason and communicate. Foaming as a pretreatment was used prior to freeze‐drying of Bifidobacterium longum RO175 to investigate the potential acceleration of the drying rate and increase in microorganism viability after the process. A study on storage of foamed and nonfoamed freeze‐dried products at 4 °C completed this study. B. longum RO175 in foamed medium could be freeze‐dried in 1/7 to 1/4 of the time required for nonfoamed suspensions. In addition, foamed suspensions presented higher viability immediately after freeze‐drying (13.6% compared to 12.81 % or 11.46%, depending on the cryoprotective media). Refrigerated storage led to a reduction in B. longum RO175 viability for all tested protective agents (foamed and nonfoamed). No correlation between glass transition temperature and stability of probiotic powders was observed during storage. In addition, lower viability after 56 d of storage was observed for foamed materials, probably due to foam porous structure and higher hygroscopicity, and oxygen presence and moisture pickup during storage. 相似文献

Threshold condition and rate of fatigue crack growth appear to be significantly affected by the degree of deflection of cracks. In the present paper, the reduction of the fatigue crack growth rate for a so-called ‘periodically-kinked crack’ as compared to that for a straight counterpart is quantified via the Paris–Erdogan law modified according to some simple theoretical arguments. It is shown that such a reduction increases as the value of the kinking angle increases. Then, a so-called ‘continuously-kinked crack’ (the kink length tends to zero) is considered and modelled as a self-similar invasive fractal curve. The sequence of kinking angles in the crack is such that the fatigue crack path is ‘on average’ straight. Using the Richardson’s expression for self-similar fractals, the fractal dimension of the crack is expressed as a function of the kinking angle. It is shown that the fatigue crack growth rate in the Paris range depends not only on the above fractal dimension and in turn on the kinking angle, but also, in an explicit fashion, on the crack length. Sugarcane bagasse and trash are used as fuels in cogeneration systems for bioethanol production, supplying steam and electricity, but may also be used as feedstock for second generation ethanol. The amount of surplus lignocellulosic material used as feedstock depends on the energy consumption of the production process; residues of the pretreatment and hydrolysis operations (residual cellulose, lignin and eventually biogas from pentoses biodigestion) may be used as fuels and increase the amount of lignocellulosic material available as feedstock in hydrolysis. The configuration of the cogeneration system (boiler pressure, lignocellulosic material consumption and steam production, turbines efficiencies, among others) has a significant impact on consumption of fuel and electricity output; in the integrated first and second generation, it also affects overall ethanol production. Simulations of the integrated first and second generation ethanol production processes were carried out using Aspen Plus, comparing different configurations of the cogeneration systems and pentoses use (biodigestion and fermentation). Economic analysis shows that electricity sale can benefit second generation ethanol, even in relatively small amounts. Environmental analysis shows that the integrated first and second generation process has higher environmental impacts in most of the categories evaluated than first generation. 相似文献

The suction muffler of hermetic reciprocating compressors is installed in order to attenuate the noise generated by the gas pulsation of the flow through the suction valve. However, the installation of the suction muffler affects the operation of the compressor owing to gas pressure drop, which causes volumetric and energetic efficiency loss due to the gas specific volume augmentation. Therefore, there is a compromise between sound attenuation and pressure drop increase, which has to be taken into account by compressor designers. In this work, it presents a numerical solution to the flow through a suction muffler in order to analyze the pressure field and point out the main contributions to the overall pressure drop of the flow. A commercial CFD (computational fluid dynamics) code was used to perform the numerical simulations and the results were validated by using experimental data. After analyzing the pressure field, the geometry of the muffler was modified intending to decrease the flow pressure drop. The geometric modification produced a 28% reduction on the overall pressure drop, without influencing the sound attenuation. 相似文献

Antimicrobial packaging can be considered an extremely challenging technology that could have a significant impact on shelf-life extension and food safety of fresh meat and meat products. In this study, different commercial polyethylene films differing in vinyl acetate ethylene, erucamide contents, and oxygen permeability were used for the coating treatment with a nisin-based antimicrobial solution (NS). Detection and measurement of the activity of the NS was determined against different food spoilage bacteria. NS was then spread manually on food contact layer of different plastic films using coating rods providing thickness of 6, 40, 60, and 100 μm. The polyethylene films before and after treatment were analysed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). NS was active against Gram-positive bacteria and the best activity was obtained against Brochothrix thermosphacta. Viable staining and epifluorescence microscopy analysis of indicator strains in contact with activated plastic films showed that the effect of the film on the various indicator strains changed very much on the basis of both type of film and indicator strain. The highest numbers of lysed cells were shown by two polyethylene films that, according to the AFM and roughness parameters analyses, were characterized by significant increase or decrease of roughness after the coating treatment. AFM analysis showed that the homogeneity of the coating was much influenced by the type of plastic films used. In order to test the efficacy in food, portions of beef chuck tender slices were prepared and covered with the antimicrobial plastic films on both sides. After 1 h and 1, 7, and 12 days of storage at 4 °C the meat samples were analyzed by standard plate counting targeting spoilage associated microbial populations. The antimicrobial plastic films after 1 h of contact with the meat caused a significant reduction of lactic acid bacteria and B. thermosphacta. The most effective antimicrobial activity of films was shown against the same populations after 24 h of storage. 相似文献
