A new device called the linear the gate transistor (LGT) is described which promises in excess of 20 GHz flat-band performance in a single compact structure. The LGT is designed and modelled using a unique software package developed for all travelling-wave structures. Results from a prototype LGT are reported.  相似文献

High-efficiency impatt devices and oscillators have been fabricated from epitaxially grown silicon for operation in the frequency range 40?140 GHz. These devices have produced world state-of-the-art efficiencies and demonstrated the expected relative frequency insensitivity of silicon. Single drift devices have given efficiencies of approximately 8%; and double drift device efficiencies as high as 13.5% at 50 GHz and 12% at 90 GHz. Initial measurements show that the sideband phase noise levels follow a constant deviation law.  相似文献

Extracellular recordings were made from the magnocellular neurones of the red nucleus (mRN) in anaesthetised cats. A study was made of the effects of selective excitatory amino acid receptor antagonists on excitatory monosynaptic responses evoked from the sensorimotor cortex (SMC) and cerebellar interpositus nucleus (IPN). Iontophoretically applied CNQX and NBQX antagonised both SMC and IPN responses whereas, D-AP5 inhibited the SMC response but was ineffective to the IPN. At currents that selectively antagonised NMDA responses, CPPene had no effect on either SMC or IPN responses. 7-chlorokynurenate inhibited both SMC and IPN responses but required currents that antagonised both AMPA and NMDA responses and was therefore acting in a non-selective manner. Iontophoretically applied glycine was inhibitory to both agonist and synaptic responses, whilst D-serine potentiated NMDA responses but did not enhance monosynaptic responses of the SMC. However in the presence of either 7-chlorokynurenate or high currents of CNQX that reduced the SMC synaptic activation of the mRN neurones, D-serine attenuated the inhibitory action of these antagonists. It is concluded that monosynaptic responses from the SMC are mediated by both NMDA and non-NMDA receptors whereas the monosynaptic responses evoked from the IPN are mediated only by non-NMDA receptors. The lack of effect of CPPene is consistent with the postulate that two NMDA receptor subtypes are present on mRN neurones.  相似文献

A complete range of perovskite solid solutions can be formed in the (1 − x )Ba(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3- x La(Mg2/3Nb1/3)O3 (BMN-LMN) pseudobinary system. While pure BMN adopts a 1:2 cation ordered structure, 1:1 ordered phases are stabilized for 0.05 ≤ x ≤ 1.0. Dark-field TEM images indicate that the La-doped solid solutions are comprised of large 1:1 ordered domains and no evidence was found for a phase-separated structure. This observation coupled with the systematic variations in the intensities of the supercell reflections supports a charge-balanced "random-site" model for the 1:1 ordering. The substitution of La also induces a transformation from a negative to positive temperature coefficient of capacitance in the region 0.25 ≤ x ≤ 0.5.  相似文献

The objective of the study is to identify the 3D behaviour of an adhesive in an assembly, and to take into account the effect of ageing in a marine environment. To that end, three different tests were employed. Gravimetric analyses were used to determine the water diffusion kinetics in the adhesive. Bulk tensile tests were performed to highlight the effects of humid ageing on the adhesive behaviour. Modified Arcan tests were performed for several ageing times to obtain the experimental database which was necessary to identify constitutive models. A Mahnken–Schlimmer type model was determined for the unaged state according to a procedure developed in a previous study. This identification used inverse techniques. It was based on the unaged modified Arcan results and on a coupling between an optimisation routine and finite-element analysis. Then, a global inverse identification procedure was developed. Its aim was to relate the unaged parameters to the moisture concentration and overcome the difficulties usually associated with ageing of bonded assemblies in a humid environment: a non-uniformity of the stress state and a gradient of mechanical properties in the adhesive. This procedure was similar to the one used in the first part but needed modified Arcan results for several ageing times. It also required an initial assumption for the evolution of the Mahnken–Schlimmer parameters with the moisture concentration.  相似文献

Hybridization in plants provides an opportunity to investigate the patterns of inheritance of hybrid resistance to herbivores, and of the plant mechanisms conferring this resistance such as plant secondary metabolites. We investigated how inter-race differences in resistance of Eucalyptus globulus to a generalist mammalian herbivore, Trichosurus vulpecula, are inherited in their F1 hybrids. We assessed browsing damage of three-year-old trees in a common environment field trial on four hybrid types of known progeny. The progency were artificial intra-race crosses and reciprocal inter-race F1 hybrids of two geographically distinct populations (races) of E. globulus; north-eastern Tasmania and south-eastern Tasmania. Populations of trees from north-eastern Tasmania are relatively susceptible to browsing by T. vulpecula, while populations from south-eastern Tasmania are more resistant. We assessed the preferences of these trees in a series of paired feeding trials with captive animals to test the field trial results and also investigated the patterns of inheritance of plant secondary metabolites. Our results demonstrated that the phenotypic expression of resistance of the inter-race F1 hybrids supported the additive pattern of inheritance, as these hybrids were intermediate in resistance compared to the pure parental hybrids. The expression of plant secondary metabolites in the F1 hybrids varied among groups of individual compounds. The most common pattern supported was dominance towards one of the parental types. Together, condensed tannins and essential oils appeared to explain the observed patterns of resistance among the four hybrid types. While both chemical groups were inherited in a dominant manner in the inter-race F1 hybrids, the direction of dominance was opposite. Their combined concentration, however, was inherited in an additive manner, consistent with the phenotypic differences in browsing.  相似文献

The strength, S , of ceramic and glass fibers often can be estimated from fractographic investigation using the fracture mirror radius, r m, and the relationship S = A m/( r m)1/2, where A mis the "mirror constant." The present work estimates the value of A mfor Tyranno® Si-Ti-C-O fibers in situ in a three-dimensional woven SiC/SiC-based composite to be 2.50 ± 0.09 MPa·m1/2. This value is within the range of 2–2.51 MPa·m1/2 previously obtained for nominally similar Nicalon® Si-C-O fibers.  相似文献

The phase stabilities in the(1−x)Ba(Zn1/3Ta2/3)O3 (BZT)-xBaZrO3(BZ)system have been investigated using samples prepared by the mixed oxide method. The substitution of Zr4+destabilizes the 1:2 cation ordering in BZT and pro-motes the formation of a cubic, 1:1 ordered structure with a doubled perovskite repeat. The homogeneity range of the 1:1 phase extends from x = 0.04 to approximately x = 0.25; substitutions beyond this range stabilize a disordered perovskite. The limits of stability of the 1:1 ordering coin-cide with compositions previously found to exhibit anoma-lies in their dielectric loss. The range of homogeneity is consistent with a "random layer" model for the 1:1 ordered "Ba{β';1/2β1/2}O3" structure. In this model the B× positions are assumed to be occupied exclusively by Ta5+, and the b× sites by a random distribution of Zn2+, Zr4+, and the remaining Ta 5+ cations. The validity of the model, where the ordered solid solutions can be represented by Ba{[Zn2− y /3Ta(1−2 y )/3Zr y ]1/2[Ta]1/2}O3(y =2x)was con-firmed by Rietveld refinements conducted using data col-lected with a synchrotron X-ray source.  相似文献
