In this work, the effects of power level and sample mass on moisture content, moisture ratio, drying rate, and drying time of Turkey okra (Hibiscus esculenta L.) were investigated using microwave drying technique. Various microwave power levels ranging from to 180 to 900 W were used for drying of 100 g of okra. To investigate the effect of sample mass on drying, the samples in the range of 25 to 100 g were dried at microwave power level of 360 W. To determine the kinetic parameters, the drying data were fitted to various models based on the ratios of the differences between the initial and final moisture contents and equilibrium moisture content. Among of the models proposed, Page's model gave a better fit for all drying conditions used. The activation energy for microwave drying of okra was calculated using an exponential expression based on Arrhenius equation and was found to be 5.54 W/g.  相似文献

The built environment provides a habitat for the most sophisticated mammal in our universe, the human being. Developments in science and technology are forcing us to reconsider the priority of human needs in current theories of architecture and the built environment. Newly developed theories and methodologies in neuroscience have allowed us to improve and deepen our knowledge of human experience in the built environment. The potential of the relationship between neuroscience and architecture for knowledge creation generates an increasing interest in theoretical and methodological approaches to explore this intersection. Thus, a common ground on which to conduct interdisciplinary studies investigating developing and emerging concepts at the intersection must be established. However, few reviews in the literature have systematically examined developing and emerging concepts at the intersection of neuroscience and architecture. The present review aims to examine the existing literature systematically to explain the influence of the built environment on human experience by using approaches from neuroscience by examining the conceptualizations in the field. The study is conducted as a systematic qualitative review that analyzes and synthesizes the developing and emerging concepts that have appeared in the ever-evolving literature. The study concludes with an overall discussion about these concepts as a means of deeply understanding the influence of the built environment on human experience, responses to the environment based on approaches from neuroscience, and their potential for providing further directions for future research.  相似文献

This study evaluated the pull-out strength of different glass fiber posts and measured volume of cement and voids in the cement in the root canal utilizing micro-computerized tomography (micro-CT) analysis after they were cemented with two different luting cements. Canine teeth (N = 40) were endodontically treated and randomly divided into four groups depending on the fiber post and the cement type (n = 10 per group) as follows: Group RU: (RelyX + RelyX U200), Group PU: (PINpost + RelyX U200), Group RF: (RelyX + FujiCEM 2), Group PF: (PINpost + FujiCEM 2). Each tooth was scanned using micro-CT and the percentage of cement and void volume at the coronal, middle, and apical levels was calculated. Pull-out tests were performed by applying tensile load parallel to the long axis of the posts (0.5 mm/min). Data were analyzed using, ANOVA, Kruskal–Wallis, and Mann–Whitney U tests (α = 0.05). Regardless of cement type, the percentage (%) of cement volume in the RelyX post groups (RU:31–36; RF:29–40) was significantly higher than that in the PINpost groups (PU:19–23; PF:18–22) (p < 0.05). The percentage of void volume at the PINpost groups (PU:6–11; PF:8–13) was significantly lower than that in the RelyX groups (RU:2; RF:3) (p < 0.05). No significant differences were observed in pull-out strength (N) between the four experimental groups (RU:358.8 ± 56.2; RF:299 ± 64.8; PU:311.9 ± 61.3; PF:293.1 ± 91.3) (p > 0.05). The micro-CT analysis demonstrated that the percentage of cement and void volumes vary depending on the type of fiber post and cement used. No correlation between cement, void volume, and pull-out strength was observed.  相似文献

In the current study, in order to prepare poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/organoclay nanocomposite fibers, a slurry‐compounding method (SCM) was applied and compared to conventional melt‐compounding method (CMM) in terms of the dispersion of organoclays and the performance of the spun and or drawn fibers. The organoclays were synthesized by using three different alkyl phosphonium salts and compared with commercially available alkyl ammonium‐modified organoclays in terms of thermal stability and basal spacing. It was found that the alkyl phosphonium salts exhibited higher thermal stability and basal spacing with respect to commercial alkyl ammonium organoclays. Among them, tributylhexadecylphosphonium bromide resulted in superior properties; therefore, it was used to prepare the nanocomposite PET fibers. The organoclay content of 0.1–1 wt% was taken as the material parameter. It was demonstrated that the SCM yielded better dispersion of organoclays with respect to CMM. The drawn nanocomposite fibers prepared via SCM exhibited improved tensile strength and modulus in comparison to the neat‐PET. The maximum tensile properties for fibers were obtained at 0.5% organoclay loading in SCM. The thermal properties and the percentage of crystallinity were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry analysis. In addition, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was utilized to obtain the percentage of crystallinity of the fibers. POLYM. This paper describes countrywide electrical power quality (PQ) assessments of the Turkish Electricity Transmission System through a genuine PQ database. The database stores the output of mobile PQ measurement systems which are established at 172 transformer substations of the transmission system. At 601 measurement points in these substations, which are potentially critical in terms of PQ, measurements are carried out by the mobile systems for a period of 1 week. PQ parameters defined in the IEC-61000-4-30 standard in addition to power values are calculated from acquired raw data by the mobile-monitoring system and the resulting data are transferred to the PQ database. The database, based on a novel PQ data model, enables its users to take PQ snapshots of the transmission system countrywide and can be accessed through several interfaces including a visual query interface, a natural language interface, and a map interface. The overall PQ status of the measured points, representing the characteristics of the transmission system, is assessed through these interfaces and problematic points are determined while deriving important conclusions about the transmission system’s PQ behavior. Moreover, several novel PQ assessment methods are proposed and their applications on the PQ data are demonstrated especially through the map interface.  相似文献

Adulteration is frequently encountered in the food industry and can be identified using currently available techniques. Infrared and Raman spectroscopic procedures are the most attractive techniques regarding fats and oils. The objective of this study was to determine the adulteration of the fat source (margarine or butter) in bakery products using Raman and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopies. Margarine and butter samples were purchased at local markets in Turkey and examined using Raman and NIR devices. A mixture (50 % margarine : 50 % butter) of fat samples was examined as well. The NIR and Raman spectral output data of all the fat samples were processed using principal component analysis (PCA). Good classification was obtained for margarine, butter and the 1:1 adulterated mixture. The chosen bakery product (cake) was produced using the same fat samples according to the method of the American Association of Cereal Chemists. Then, the fat fraction was extracted from the cakes with n-hexane. Extracted fat samples from the cakes were examined as before. PCA was applied to Raman and NIR spectral data to achieve the separation of fat sources in the cakes. PCA was also validated in each of the two stages. Significant decomposition was observed in the Raman study in contrast to the NIR study. A chemometric comparison was also applied to processed (baked) fat samples in cakes and purchased samples by PCA to assess the effects of heat treatment on sample spectra. Raman spectroscopy with multivariate analyses such as PCA can be used to detect the adulteration of the fat source in bakery products in a faster and more suitable way than the other methods.  相似文献

Sulphate removal by chemical precipitation from the wastewater of a wire‐welding facility was investigated. Sulphate was precipitated by using limestone and a small amount of lime. Firstly, the relationship between the ionic strength of wastewater and sulphate removal efficiency was established. A kinetic study of sulphate precipitation was also conducted. Finally, modification of plating process was proposed to achieve the highest sulphate removal. According to the suggested modification, the sulphate concentration of final discharge could be down to 425 mg/L. Hence, if wire‐welding facilities modify their systems so that the wastewater is treated at the highest level of sulphate contents, the removal efficiency will be the highest, i.e. lesser amounts of sulphate will be discharged into sewage systems.  相似文献

Objectives: This study evaluated the effect of different root canal sealers on the push-out bond strength of tooth-colored posts to root dentin. Material and methods: Eighty human mandibular premolar teeth with single roots were decoronated and randomly divided into two groups according to post material: G1–G5: Cytec blanco; G6–G10: Cosmopost. In each group, the specimens were further subgrouped according to the filling material plus sealer (n = 8): G1, G6: Gutta-percha + AH Plus; G2, G7: Resilon + Epiphany SE; G3, G8: Gutta-percha + Sealite; G4, G9: Gutta-percha + iRoot SP; and G5, G10: control (unobturated). Cytec blanco and Cosmopost of 1.4 mm diameter were adhesively luted to samples using Variolink II. Push-out test was performed in a universal testing machine, and failure modes were examined under stereomicroscope. Data were analyzed with the two-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey’s tests. Statistical significance was set to 0.05. Results: Roots obturated with AH Plus (3.48 ± 1.41 MPa), Sealite (3.47 ± 0.65 MPa), and Resilon (3.36 ± 1.23 MPa) had the lowest bond strength (p < 0.005). iRoot SP and control group samples showed the highest bond strength values (7.38 ± 0.89 MPa and 6.43 ± 1.16 MPa, respectively) (p < 0.05). Significant differences were observed among tooth-colored posts and sealers (p < 0.05). Adhesive failures were predominant in all groups (48%). Conclusions: When the resin cement Variolink II was used, the types of root canal filling materials and sealers could affect the retentions of the fiber/zirconium posts; the fiber post revealed the higher bond values than the zirconium post; and the calcium silicate-based sealer (iRoot SP) revealed the highest bond strengths.  相似文献

In the present study, glucose and galactose inhibition effects for β-galactosidase hydrolyzing lactose recovered from whey were investigated. The experiments were carried out in 250 mL of 25 mM phosphate buffer solution containing 1, 1.5, 2, 4, and 6% (w/v) lactose recovered from whey by using a commercial β-galactosidase produced from Kluyveromyces marxianus lactis at a constant temperature of 37°C, pH 6.5, and enzyme concentration of 1 mL/L, in a batch reactor system. The amounts of glucose and galactose added to the reaction solution were 6.25, 12.5, and 25 g/L. A second-order kinetic expression effectively simulated the data of residual lactose concentration with respect to processing time for each experimental condition examined. The Lineweaver-Burk plots showed that the inhibition effects of glucose and galactose were uncompetitive. The inhibition constants (Ki) obtained for glucose and galactose (10.32 g/L and 13.03 g/L, respectively) showed that the glucose was the most effective inhibitor for β-galactosidase.  相似文献

This study describes a method development for the determination of rosmarinic acid (RA) by using a gradient high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and its application to certain plant materials. The analysis was performed by utilizing a two solvents system [A: methanol/water/formic acid (10:88:2; v:v:v); B: methanol/water/formic acid (90:8:2; v:v:v)] on a reverse-phase column. The flow rate and injection volume were 1 ml min−1 and 10 μl, respectively. Signals were detected at 280 nm. In addition, an internal standard (IS) technique was applied for the analysis of RA to increase precision, and propylparaben was employed for this purpose. The repeatability results as RSD% were 1.66, 1.17 and 1.26 for intra-day and 1.38 was for inter-day with the employment of (3.67 × 10−5 M) RA. A limit of linearity (LOL) was observed in a wide (1.13 × 10−5–5.65 × 10−4 M) concentration range. Linearity parameters were also examined in the range of 5.95 × 10−6–7.14 × 10−5 M RA, and very good correlation was observed. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) (for inter-day) were 1.60 × 10−6 M (signal/noise [S/N] = 3.3) and 4.80 × 10−6 M (S/N = 10), respectively. The method was applied to the extracts of certain Lamiaceae plants (Salvia candidissima Vahl. subsp. candidissima, S. sclarea L., S. verticillata L. subsp. verticillata and R. officinalis L.), and reasonable results were obtained.  相似文献
