As the only fuel that is not chemically bound to carbon, hydrogen has gained interest as an energy carrier to face the current environmental issues of greenhouse gas emissions and to substitute the depleting non-renewable reserves. In the last years, there has been a significant increase in the number of publications about the bacterium Thermotoga neapolitana that is responsible for production yields of H2 that are among the highest achievements reported in the literature. Here we present an extensive overview of the most recent studies on this hyperthermophilic bacterium together with a critical discussion of the potential of fermentative production by this bacterium. Unbalanced charge injection is deleterious for the performance of colloidal quantum dot (CQD) light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) as it deteriorates the quantum efficiency, brightness, and operational lifetime. CQD LEDs emitting in the infrared have previously achieved high quantum efficiencies but only when driven to emit in the low‐radiance regime. At higher radiance levels, required for practical applications, the efficiency decreased dramatically in view of the notorious efficiency droop. Here, a novel methodology is reported to regulate charge supply in multinary bandgap CQD composites that facilitates improved charge balance. The current approach is based on engineering the energetic potential landscape at the supra‐nanocrystalline level that has allowed to report short‐wave infrared PbS CQD LEDs with record‐high external quantum efficiency in excess of 8%, most importantly, at a radiance level of ≈5 W sr?1 m2, an order of magnitude higher than prior reports. Furthermore, the balanced charge injection and Auger recombination reduction has led to unprecedentedly high operational stability with radiance half‐life of 26 068 h at a radiance of 1 W sr?1 m?2. 相似文献

This paper presents computation of swing modes of a large power system that could be significantly affected by power swing damping controllers in FACTS or HVDC devices at a given location. Modal controllability is a suitable measure to isolate these modes for analysis. Computation of the controllable swing mode spectrum is useful, especially in situations where the controller structure and feedback signals are not frozen (e.g., at the planning stage). This paper proposes two important steps that allow us to map the problem of finding highly controllable swing modes to the problem of finding the swing modes that have high transfer function residues (for which efficient algorithms are available). The steps are: (a) normalization of the eigenvectors corresponding to different modes and (b) identification of specific feedback signals for each type of FACTS/HVDC device such that the modal observability and modal controllability are tightly coupled. Once the mapping is done, a computationally efficient method like the Subspace Accelerated Dominant Pole Algorithm [16] (SADPA) can be adapted to find the highly controllable swing modes. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated by case studies of FACTS and HVDC devices in a 16-machine system and the Indian power grid. 相似文献

In this article, a novel design of compact cavity‐backed slot antenna based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology is presented for dual‐frequency communication services. A single layer printed circuit board is applied to implement the proposed antenna. The bowtie‐ring slot engraved on the SIW square cavity is excited using two orthogonal microstrip feed lines to operate at two distinct frequencies (6.62 GHz and 11.18 GHz). The proposed antenna allows each of these frequencies to be designed independently. A prototype of the proposed cavity‐backed antenna that radiates at both 6.62 GHz and 11.18 GHz is fabricated and measured. The port isolation better than 29.3 dB is achieved by utilizing the transmission zeros (TZs), which are produced due to the orthogonal feed lines, TE110 mode and coupling between the TE120 and TE210 modes. The measured peak gains of the proposed diplexing antenna are 5.77 dBi and 5.81 dBi at lower and upper resonating frequencies, respectively. The proposed dual‐frequency antenna exhibits the front‐to‐back‐ratio (FTBR) and cross‐polarization level greater than 26 dB and 21 dB, respectively, at both resonating frequencies. 相似文献

In this investigation, a hybrid optimization approach is used for the estimation of minimal surface integrity of surface created in electrical discharge machining (EDM). A new combination, response surface methodology coupled with the grey relational analysis method has been proposed and used to optimize the machining parameters of EDM. The significant input parameters such as pulse current (Ip), pulse duration (Ton), duty cycle (Tau) and discharge voltage (V ) are considered, and white layer thickness, surface roughness, and surface crack density have been considered as responses for this study. Thirty experiments were conducted on American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) D2 steel work piece materials based on central composite design. The optimum conditions of the machining parameters were obtained from the grey relational grade. Analysis of variance is used to find the percentage contribution of the input parameters and found that Tau was the most influencing parameter followed by Ton and Ip in EDM of D2 steel. The $R^2$ value for the grey relational grade model was 0.918. These results provide useful information about how to control the responses and ensure the high-quality surfaces-quality surfaces. This method is simple with easy operability. The assessment outcome provides a scientific reference to obtain the minimal condition of surface integrity, and they were found to be a pulse current of 1 A, a pulse duration of 50 μs, a duty cycle of 80 %, and discharge voltage 40 V. 相似文献

We discuss a simple time of flight technique for measurement of temperature of a cold cloud in a magneto-optical trap (MOT). The technique is based on spatiotemporal fluorescence imaging of the cloud that is allowed to undergo one-dimensional expansion in the presence of the orthogonal two-dimensional configuration of laser beams by temporal modulation of a pair of counterpropagating trapping beams in the MOT. We show that, in the time scale 0< or =t<5 ms, the expansion of the cloud is ballistic and the temperature can be extracted from the time variation of the rms size of the cloud in the expansion direction. The reliability of the technique has been established by comparing the results with release and recapture method, and also by fitting them to the known temperature scaling law. 相似文献
