Standard simulation in classical mechanics is based on the use of two very different types of equations. The first one, of axiomatic character, is related to balance laws (momentum, mass, energy,...), whereas the second one consists of models that scientists have extracted from collected, natural or synthetic data. Even if one can be confident on the first type of equations, the second one contains modeling errors. Moreover, this second type of equations remains too particular and often fails in describing new experimental results. The vast majority of existing models lack of generality, and therefore must be constantly adapted or enriched to describe new experimental findings. In this work we propose a new method, able to directly link data to computers in order to perform numerical simulations. These simulations will employ axiomatic, universal laws while minimizing the need of explicit, often phenomenological, models. This technique is based on the use of manifold learning methodologies, that allow to extract the relevant information from large experimental datasets.  相似文献

Primates, and particularly humans, are characterized by superior manual dexterity compared with other mammals. However, drawing the biomechanical link between hand morphology/behaviour and functional capabilities in non-human primates and fossil taxa has been challenging. We present a kinematic model of thumb–index precision grip and manipulative movement based on bony hand morphology in a broad sample of extant primates and fossil hominins. The model reveals that both joint mobility and digit proportions (scaled to hand size) are critical for determining precision grip and manipulation potential, but that having either a long thumb or great joint mobility alone does not necessarily yield high precision manipulation. The results suggest even the oldest available fossil hominins may have shared comparable precision grip manipulation with modern humans. In particular, the predicted human-like precision manipulation of Australopithecus afarensis, approximately one million years before the first stone tools, supports controversial archaeological evidence of tool-use in this taxon.  相似文献

In recent years, two adulteration incidents concerning the addition of melamine, a nitrogen-rich industrial small polar compound, to pet food and infant formula products have occurred in China. These issues prompted laboratories to develop methods for the analysis of melamine and related compounds in a wide variety of food products and ingredients. In this context, a CE-ESI-MS method was developed to simultaneously analyze melamine and its related products (ammeline, ammelide and cyanuric acid) that possess close physico-chemical properties. This method allows the simultaneous analysis of both cations and anions in a single run, using CE to divide the run into two time segments in normal polarity mode. For this purpose, ESI polarity was switched once during the run, increasing sensitivity and data quality. The method was applied to spiked powdered milk and melamine-contaminated powdered milk, with two sample preparation procedures.  相似文献

Proteomics can be defined as the large‐scale analysis of proteins. Due to the complexity of biological systems, it is required to concatenate various separation techniques prior to mass spectrometry. These techniques, dealing with proteins or peptides, can rely on chromatography or electrophoresis. In this review, the electrophoretic techniques are under scrutiny. Their principles are recalled, and their applications for peptide and protein separations are presented and critically discussed. Summary Zn lactate, 3H2O and dehydrated Zn lactate were used as initiator to polymerize DL-lactide under various conditions. It is shown that the latter does polymerize DL-lactide up to high molecular weight at a slower rate than Sn octoate. Zn lactate being formed when lactic acid is allowed to react with Zn metal, it is believed that the active species in Zn metal initiation is Zn lactate. Comparison was made of the two poly(DL-lactide) initiated with Zn metal and Sn octoate respectively and selected to have almost similar characteristics. It is shown that degradation characteristics of the two polymers are different, especially water uptake and rate of heterogeneous degradation. It is further shown that residual Sn concentrated within the matrix remnants whereas the content in Zn remained constant according to degradation controlled release.  相似文献

A rank-ordered list was constructed that reports the first 99 of the 100 most eminent psychologists of the 20th century. Eminence was measured by scores on 3 quantitative variables and 3 qualitative variables. The quantitative variables were journal citation frequency, introductory psychology textbook citation frequency, and survey response frequency. The qualitative variables were National Academy of Sciences membership, election as American Psychological Association (APA) president or receipt of the APA Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award, and surname used as an eponym. The qualitative variables were quantified and combined with the other 3 quantitative variables to produce a composite score that was then used to construct a rank-ordered list of the most eminent psychologists of the 20th century. The lipidic fraction from 8 sediments sampled at the confluence between the Fensch River (FR) and the Moselle River (MR) have been analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in order to investigate the transfer of organic micropollutants from the FR to the MR. Molecular markers have been quantified and classified into five categories: natural, petrogenic, pyrogenic and sewage water markers and non-specific molecules. This classification coupled with the quantification of the molecules allows the comparison between anthropogenic and natural inputs and the source apportionment of anthropogenic molecules that are not covalently bound to sedimentary organic macromolecules. The transfer and the fate of organic micropollutants in river sediments seem to be controlled by the water flow. Low water flow conditions induce the settling of fine particles, which could limit the biodegradation. This leads to the preservation of the original anthropogenic fingerprint that is rich in low molecular weight molecules. In high water flow conditions, sediments are mainly composed of coarse particles, limiting the preservation of organic matter, which leads to a persistent anthropogenic fingerprint, mainly composed of high molecular weight compounds.  相似文献

Wheat gluten (WG)/montmorillonite (MMT) films were prepared by a thermomechanical process consisting of first mixing the components in a two‐blade, counter‐rotating device and second thermoforming the obtained dough. A significant loss in protein solubility due to the formation and rearrangement of disulfide bonds was observed upon mixing and thermoforming. In the range of studied glycerol contents (25–42.8 wt %), it was shown that glycerol had no significant effect on the mechanical properties or water sensitivity of WG‐based films. Increasing the thermoforming temperature from 60 to 120°C led to considerable improvements of the mechanical properties (increases in both the stress and strain at break) and a significant reduction of the water sensitivity. The introduction of MMT (up to 5 wt %) allowed the achievement of mechanical properties that were not possible by just the variation of the glycerol content and the processing temperature. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
