Assessed the relation of teachers' ratings of young children's abilities, classroom skills, and personal-social characteristics to achievement (Wide Range Achievement Test) in school. Teachers' ratings of 217 children were obtained in the fall and spring of kindergarten and again in 2nd and 3rd grades. By the end of the 3rd grade, 146 children remained in the sample. A total of 63 teachers participated. Predictive validity of the ratings was high for both concurrent and subsequent achievement by the children. The sum of 4 ratings (Effective Learning, Retaining Information, Vocabulary, and Following Instructions) predicted achievement nearly as well as the entire battery of ratings. Average ratings were consistently higher for girls than for boys. Ratings made by mothers were less predictive of scholastic success than ratings made by teachers. This paper describes the quasi-linear parameter varying (quasi-LPV) modeling, identification and control of a Twin Rotor MIMO System (TRMS). The non-linear model of the TRMS is transformed into a quasi-LPV system and approximated in a polytopic way. The unknown model parameters have been calibrated by means of the non-linear least squares identification approach and validated against real data. Finally, an LPV state observer and state-feedback controller have been designed using an LPV pole placement method based on LMI regions. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed control approach have been proved both in simulation and on the real set-up.  相似文献

This paper proposes a linear parameter varying (LPV) interval unknown input observer for the robust fault diagnosis of actuator faults and ice accretion in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) described by an uncertain model. The proposed interval observer evaluates the set of values for the state, which are compatible with the nominal fault‐free and icing‐free operation and can be designed in such a way that some information about the nature of the unknown inputs affecting the system can be obtained, thus allowing the diagnosis to be performed. The proposed strategy has several advantages. First, the LPV paradigm allows taking into account operating point variations. Second, the noise rejection properties are enhanced by the presence of the integral term. Third, the interval estimation property guarantees the absence of false alarms. Linear matrix inequality–based conditions for the analysis/design of these observers are provided in order to guarantee the interval estimation of the state and the boundedness of the estimation. The developed theory is supported by simulation results, obtained with the uncertain model of a Zagi Flying Wing UAV, which illustrate the strong appeal of the methodology for identifying correctly unexpected changes in the system dynamics due to actuator faults or icing.  相似文献

The paper presents a robust fault estimation approach for a class of nonlinear discrete‐time systems. In particular, two sources of uncertainty are present in the considered class of systems, that is, an unknown input and an exogenous external disturbance. Thus, apart from simultaneous state and fault estimation, the objective is to decouple the effect of an unknown input while minimizing the influence of the exogenous external disturbance within the framework. The resulting design procedure guarantees that a prescribed disturbance attenuation level is achieved with respect to the state and fault estimation error while assuring the convergence of the observer. The core advantage of the proposed approach is its simplicity by reducing the fault estimation problem to matrix inequalities formulation. In addition, the design conditions ensure the convergence of the observer with guaranteed performance. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by its application to a twin rotor multiple‐input multiple‐output system. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
